As a recent graduate at GA Tech, I've learned a few ways over the past four years to earn money. During my time in school, I've participated in over 30 market research studies / focus groups & earned well over 3 thousand dollars. While its not a ton of money, its definitely a nice supplement over the year to have an extra hundred bucks or more a month .

If ya'll are interested in learning about how to sign up with the the highest paying FOCUS group facilities in the Atlanta area, then lemme know and send me an email since I cant paste too much stuff here. Hope some of ya'll will be able to take advantage of the focus groups in Atlanta since I'm moving and sadly wont be able to take advantage of the info anymore.

Good luck everyone!
Volunteers wanted to help out at UNICO--a non-profit Spanish community center near downtown Canton (exit 19 off Hwy 575.)

So far, I am the only native English-speaker working at the Center, and we really need a few more. I teach 3rd level English 2 nights a week---mostly to adults who have gotten up at 5:00am to start their workday and, still, they somehow make it to class to learn English from 8:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. Although I’ve never taught anything before, and I speak only a few words of Spanish, the experience of teaching at the Center is the most fun and rewarding time I have all week.
If you have been thinking about volunteering somewhere, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you are interested in working with the Spanish community. You can make your own hours and help out in various ways. Even if you could only make it for a couple hours per week and all you did was (very slowly and clearly) dictate a story from the textbook, so that the students got a chance to hear the American pronunciation—You wouldn’t believe how grateful both the students and the folks who run the Center would be. Or, if you would like to volunteer more time and you feel confident teaching, you can have your own class that meets 3 times per week. Besides teaching or assisting in teaching English, we also need someone who can teach the basic use of the computer or coach people to prepare to get U.S. citizenship.

If this sounds interesting to you, you can contact me by replying to this email, or you may contact the director of the Center directly: Fidel Gomez at 404-316-3007
Phone hours Daily, 9:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M.

This is a serious posting...A ministry called the lifezone sometimes does ads for deliverance in this forum. I traveled all the way to New York for ministry and ended up in a worse position for it. So use your own judgement but this is a warning to beware.

Stokkseyri is a coastal South Icelandic town in the fertile farming district region of Flói. It is known for its black sandy beach which becomes quite crowded with tourists during summer. The beach is wide and full of driftwood. A long sea wall was erected in the late 18th century to prevent encroachment by the sea and as a shield against Ölfusá river's flooding and high waves. The entire coastal area is open lowland and very windswept with shallow shores.

The village has a rich art and cultural life. Paintings and glass galleries, Ghost Centre and the Center of Ethnomusicology, which are all situated in the Hólmaröst cultural centre. An interesting museum, "Ţuríđar cottage" is in Stokkseyri, built in memory of Lady Ţuríđur Einarsdóttir, captain of a fishing boat in the late 18th and early 19th century, a time when it was considered a unique profession for a woman. The Ghost Centre in Stokkseyri is a Ghost Museum with all of the most famous ghosts in Iceland located in a building by the harbour. Guests walk through the ghost-maze, where they will experience the stories in the environment where they happened. The stories can be listened to in English, German and Icelandic.

Here is a nice description of Stokkseyri in the Icelandic newspaper Grapewine: “It is a community where one native has a polar bear in the living room, some have horses in their backyard, and almost everyone knows the Foo Fighters on a first name basis, Stokkseyri is located on the south coast only 45 minutes from Reykjavík. This small village of about 500 people is renowned for its natural beauty, but more impressive are the creative inhabitants living there, inspired by the shore and wildlife in the surrounding area. Stokkseyri wasn’t much of a draw for tourists a decade ago. Natives almost entirely depended on the fishing industry, and the 26-metre-high lighthouse Knarrarósviti was really the only attraction for travellers. Times have changed, the fish processing moved to nearby town Ţorlákshöfn and with companies like Kajakferđir, Töfragarđurinn, restaurant Viđ fjöruborđiđ and all kinds of museums the village is becoming a popular spot for both locals and foreigners arriving by thousands every year to take part in various activities.”

The volunteers will be acting as ghosts in the Ghost museum and also, they will be working closely with the staff of the museum helping them with all other necessary tasks. They will also give a helping hand in a family park, taking care of the animals and the visiting guests. This project is perfect for people with artistic skills, especially theatre. Five volunteers will be participating in each group.

Project language: English

More information and enrollment: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-iceland.htm

For volunteer opportunities in other countries please click here: www.cadip.org

t: 604-628-7400

HOST AN EXCHANGE STUDENT

Are you looking for an international experience for the whole family without leaving the country? If the answer is "YES," then consider hosting an ASSE exchange student!

WANTED: Volunteer host families in your community to open their hearts and homes to our ASSE high school exchange students. Students range from 15-18 years of age and come fully insured.

WHEN: Students will be arriving late July through August/early Sept.

WHAT THE HOST FAMILY PROVIDES: Host families provide room and board for the student (a separate bed, three daily meals) and include the student as a member of their family (hugs and chores!). Students bring their own spending money.

RESULTS AND REWARDS: You will get the chance to learn about a new country and culture, as well as share our American way of life with a child who is eager to learn more about America. You are asked to treat the student as your own child, with the same loving support, guidance, and household rules that you would ask your own teenager to abide by. In return, you get the priceless experience of helping a young person while experiencing another culture-as we like to say, host a student and make a friend for a lifetime! (because ASSE works through the U.S. State Dept. and must follow their guidelines, host families are not paid for hosting students. I'm an Angel....are you? Well, you can be! You can support deployed U.S. soldiers by sending letters, cards or care packages to them as they fight in the name of freedom. A lot of our military folks that are deployed around the world sometimes feel like they are forgotten and not supported in what they do. Many don't have families(or don't hear from them) and get no mail. In a lot of cases, they just crave the basic comforts of home, yummy snacks, and news from the U.S.A. This is NOT about whether you support the war...it's about showing these men/women that we support them and the sacrifices they make each and every day. Visit www.soldiersangels.org to find out what you can do for the men and women who do so much for you. There are 1,000s of soldiers waiting to hear from an "Angel" like you!

Dekalb! Be Very Very Excited! Michael Rothenberg for Dekalb Superior Court Judge!

Isn’t going to court the most favorite part of your day? NOT! If you have to go to court, do want a fair and impartial Judge? Let's organize to elect Michael Rothenberg to replace incumbent Gail C. Flake* in Dekalb Superior Court. Michael carries the promise to bring fairness, integrity and efficiency to the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. Michael is a fresh pair of eyes and ears. Let’s breathe new life into our courts.

Judges matter. Make a difference.

www.MichaelForJudge.com

If you are interested in the opportunity to participate in the campaign to Elect Michael Rothenberg or would like to learn more, please respond to this ad with your contact information.

While many matters are of public record, if you have had a negative experience with Judge Flake that you would like to share from a personal perspective, please respond to this ad. All information will be kept strictly confidential, and will not be shared without your express permission.

This post is from a Dekalb County Resident who wants a safer Dekalb County with officials who treat all people with dignity and equitable justice. Thanks for helping to make Dekalb better for us all. If you are a minority, a woman, low to middle income, retired, a parent - this is a very important election issue for you. If you are an attorney, law enforcement, public official…you know the deal and the time for change is now. We are all anonymous when it comes time to vote.

*Judge Flake, initially appointed by Zell Miller, has held on to her position for years in spite of public outcry because voters don't typically focus on the election of our Judges; in the past, she either had no opposition or was not seriously challenged. It's easy to get the popular vote when you don't have competition. Judges have an incredible amount of power. Let's get focused and hold Judge Flake accountable for her high rate of reversals**, appearance of impropriety and inability remain impartial by spreading the word and voting for a better suited candidate.

**Reversal means that as a Judge, a judgment she renders is wrong. Through an appeal process, the decision is reversed. This usually means that the Judge made an error, did not apply the law properly or abused their discretion. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney and pursue an appeal, which many of us cannot, you’re stuck with the judgment. In addition, our taxpayer dollars are wasted as a result of a high error record. From a business standpoint, this Judge’s experience and qualifications are not sufficient for her to remain on the bench. Vote for Change Dekalb.
