She was rescued as a stray so we don't know her parentage, but she has the character traits of a Bengal -- highly intelligent, affectionate, and curious. <![CDATA[Cute lil' Buster is at the Georgetown Dog Rescue. There is a small adoption fee of $95. Buster is all boy, and is looking for someone to be his best pal. For those who are old enough to remember, he looks a lot like Petey, the dog on the old TV show, “The Little Rascals”. Just like Petey, Buster is waiting to get into all sorts of adventures with you. This quick learner has been living with a professional dog trainer for the last 5 months, learning good manners and all of the obedience commands. He is a smart, strong, energetic, playful dog who loves people and gets along with most other dogs. Buster was a favorite among the volunteers at town lake animal center. When his time had run out there, they contacted Georgetown Animal Rescue, who pulled this boy out just in the nick of time. Since then, he’s been living at a kennel with a dog trainer. He’s learned a lot, but living at a kennel is hard and he really needs a home. <![CDATA[After a divorce and an upcoming move out of state, I am very saddened to have to give up my sweet dog, Nuala. I picked her out of a litter of pups 5 1/2 years ago. Her father was a gorgeous Great Pyrenees and her mother the most gentle medium sized mixed-breed dog I have ever met. Nuala looks like a white lab with a purple tongue. Under different circumstances Nuala would live with me for the rest of her life, however, the reality is that I can no longer give her the care and life that she deserves. Nuala is an adventurous sweetheart who would thrive in a home with a yard for chasing squirrels as well as a couch to snuggle with her owners on. She enjoys the company of people over that of other dogs, although she has had a companion dog for the past 3 years. Nuala was not raised with cats and would prefer chasing them than to co-exist peacefully. Independent and intelligent, she does very well left alone during the day - outside or inside - while her people are at work. At night she loves a warm soft place to sleep and somebody to pet her. Nuala's 70 lb frame produces a deep bark for unwanted guests but her teethy-smile gives away her true sweet intentions. She'll jump and kiss you on the lips if you let her! Nuala has had basic training as a puppy and will do almost anything for a treat. She enjoys walks and playing tug with her favorite rope. Her independent personality keeps her from enjoying off-leash activities, however. She is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and house-trained. Yes, I have a boyfriend that is over quite often who owns a dog and brings this dog with him when he comes over. I was honest when I filled out the application and figured that I better mention the dog since it is always over here. They want the vet records for this dog. This is NOT my dog, I am NOT responsible for it or its medical care, yet the rescue agencies want to know all about this animal, and why it isn't neutered? It's NOT my dog, and he's NOT mine to make that decision about. I don't know why the past history of my boyfriends dog is of any consequence to me or my adoption of a rescue animal since all the rescue animals are already neutered! I have visited the shelters in my area, and tried to adopt only to hear that the dogs that I chose have enough applications on them already. I felt very strongly that I would rather adopt a dog that "needs" a home and that no one else "wants" and that has been abandoned and could really use a good home unfortunately since these rescue agencies have made it almost completely impossible for me to adopt one of their animals I am considering the adoption of a puppy, just like everyone else and that everybody always wants. This is a sad thing. I agree that animals should be neutered and mine will be, but not everyone thinks that way. I am responsible and I know what's involved with the adoption and care of a dog or puppy and our home offers a loving caring environment for one of the rescue dogs. I was willing to adopt a rescue dog with previous medical problems to love and to welcome as a member of our family, and actually going to pay for that honor at a tune of $200. All I can say is that this is sad and unfortunately the rescue agency has made a big mistake in passing up our home and still another one of their dogs still does not have a "forever" home.]]>

<![CDATA[My dog got out a couple of days ago in the rutland and parkfield area. The storms scared him I think. i jave checked the stray drop off at the town lake spca three times and still no sign. His name is Charlie, he is black and white. the white is mostly on his chest and feet. he has one blue eye and one brown that has asmall speckle of blue in it also. he also has a distinctive stripe down his back that is about three inches wide. Has a sort of bushy tail and big fuzzy ears. He looks like a wolf (sort of). PLEASE help me find him. He doesnt have a collar on. We have been able to adopt our 3 babies, but we still have 1 baby left who needs to find a loving family! I believe she is a girl, All black with a smidge of Orange on her hiney! We took him in after an unfortunate accident with a stick to get stapled up and they went ahead and did some other work including blood tests. I got the results of the blood test on my voice mail saying his sugar level was at 150, not dangerous but it could he could be prediabetic and more tests need to be done. We've had some interest, but the one's we've screened want to breed him and want to leave him in the yard all day. He's not fixed....but doesn't mark all over the place. He's active, but submissive. He's a great guard dog, but a little bit of a chicken :) He'll bark when he hears something different outside his fence....but runs away from squirrels in the yard. He's great with kids! We have four children ages 8, 4, 3, and 18 months. He licks and paws at them, but never takes it too far. I've had to say "No! Down" only a handful of times. He's a good listener:) We're working on the potty training, but like a toddler, he easily forgets when he's playing, so we've had a few accidents. <![CDATA[Rowdy - She just had all of her shots, and surgery in March. And even has the microchip implant. She is about a year old and weighs in at around 30 lbs. Yes, her name is Rowdy, and she lives up to it. I am not going to be misleading in telling her story because that wouldn't be fair to you, and especially not to her. I don't want her to end up on the streets again by falsifying about what kind of personality she has. She is a great dog, very loyal to her masters, and just wants to be loved. And she is a bit of a "wild dog" at heart still. She is very territorial, which does make for a great guard dog for the house. But the potential owners need to have a lot of time to dedicate to her and her training, a yard for her to burn off her energy, and ideally, no other dogs. She loves to be the center of your attention at all times. And I have two other dogs, so this was the most challenging part for me. Rowdy's Story She was found on the streets in South Texas and taken in by my in-laws. I think she lived on the streets for a while, because she is very jumpy with any noises, sirens, cars, other dogs, and even people. But very submissive with her masters. I fell in love with her right away because of her desire to be loved, and loyalty by defending me against their evil chihuahuas. :) So they asked at Thanksgiving 2007 if I wanted her and I couldn't say no. My other two dogs are very well behaved, and I thought Rowdy would learn from them and with my training techniques that have worked for the other two pups. Her wild side showed even more once we got her home. She wasn't eating her food out of her bowl. She would carry bites of it and actually bury it around the yard. And does the same with any rawhide bones we would give them. She still taps at her food with her nose like she's trying to hide it. Even in her kennel with her blankets. It took a couple of weeks for my other dogs and her to really understand that she was (hopefully going to be) a part of our family. She picks fights with my oldest dog (Rottweiller/Shepherd mix) and does not back down. I've had to get in the middle of them a couple times. It's usually a fight over food, or a toy. But with the biggest dog, she knows not to mess around with and doesn't. She thinks all of the toys and balls in the yard are hers, and forces the older one to give them up by being a bully. And she loves to hunt anything that moves - bugs, lizards, bees, butterflies, birds, etc. She'll bite at them, and actually play with them till they die. But she likes to keep them alive for a little bit and acts like they are her "pets." It's kind of cute - in a way. I've tried training her a little, but not the amount that the other dogs have had. I don't have enough time, money, and energy anymore. Three dogs is just too much for me. So I am hoping to find someone out there who does have the ablities, and can try - because she does deserve another chance. I really want the best for her, and if someone else has the resources to do it - she's yours.]]>
