I started this meetup because I felt alone, although I knew there were others just like me out there. I love clothes and fashion. I always loved to sew since I was a wee lad. I never had a chance to get my own sewing machine, or learning how to sew from someone else, or had a place to sew, or going to school for sewing or meet other people with the same feeling/want; until now. Mostly everything that I know now is self thought, and I wanted to share my knowledge with others. This group is open to everyone and anyone. From: Professional or amateur sewers Fashion Designers, Stylist, Dresser Crafters, Fabric Art lover Someone who wants to learn from scratch Kids, Adults Quilters, etc. This group is made for people who love to share their ideas and knowledge with others. Come and share a space in my home studio in Brighton. My studio is 14 by 12 and can accommodate at least 10 people at a time, maybe more. ROS, now in its 6th year, is a FREE two day event that brings community and local artists together for fun and culture. This year over 100 artists will display in 44 locations throughout Roslindale. <![CDATA[Join us for a 6 week in-depth class in sculpting the nude female figure from life in natural clay. Dan Myers, QAA's award winning sculptor and teacher, will guide all artists at every level in a systematic, hands-on method of creating a likeness of our model. The course will include gesture and pose selection, armature building, bone and muscle anatomy, details of features, use of specialized tools, encouragement of individual artistic expression, photographs of the leather hard stage, firing in a kiln, patina and mounting for exhibit. At least 40 pages of photos and reference materials will be supplied and a CD of photos of each stage will be available at the end. Class fee is $206 for QAA members (include extra $20 for membership) which includes everything: clay, model fee, use of tools, and firing in a kiln to permanent terracotta. The class will be offered on 6 Wednesday nights, starting Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 7 to 10 pm. Maximum class size is 7. Discount available for US service personnel. Ideally you should be 5'6" or taller, 130 pounds or more, handsome or cute face, good personality is a plus as that can come across nicely in images.
