I'm a photographer and artist in the Beacon Hill area of Boston specializing in Headshots for Actors, Modeling shoots, Portraits of all kinds including... Family Portraits, Internet Dating, MY SPACE photos, Couples, Business, Children, Bands, Pets etc. I also shoot artistic nudes, small weddings, corporate photography, etc. My style is less formal than the traditional studio photographers, as I like to take my time with the subject to get the most relaxed and personalized shots I can. I won't snap a limited set amount of photos and get you out as soon as possible because I have someone else coming in after you.

My photo shoots take place in my studio in the Beacon Hill area of Boston. A shoot tends to go from 1-3 hours (depending on the type of shoot) and I take anywhere between 200-500 photographs (Black & White and Color) during the shoot. I use both professional backdrops and the environmental architecture of my studio as backgrounds along with professional studio lighting and natural lighting.

My philosophy has always been to take a lot of photos, as I feel it takes time for any subject to get comfortable being photographed and that is when you get the wonderful images and the creativity flows on both ends.

I shoot with a high-end digital camera and I have over 10 years of extensive PHOTOSHOP experience allowing me to offer full retouching and digital creativity to your pictures. Your images can be delivered to you on CDs at high resolution, web-ready or actual printed photographs ( Photographic prints at an additional cost). My paper Photographs are printed at one of the top photography labs in New England.

Check out the pricing page on my website for the shoot that best suits your needs. You will get all your images on CDs with full use of copyright.

Graphic design services also available for photographic collages, Comp Cards, Head Shot composites, CD design, Poster design...etc.

Conveniently located in Beacon Hill in the Mass. General area. Accessable from the Green, Blue, Red, and Orange "T" lines with just a 5-10 minute walk.

We live in a house in Brookline Village and rent the first floor garage out as artist studios. The space available is about 12"x12"of raw space with 2 1/2 walls. The basement has 4 other artists working in it. There is a garage door for moving things in and out, a slop sink bathroom, and an industrial space heater. It does get cold in the winter but with an additional personal space heater it's do-able. It has no natural light except for when the garage door is open in good weather. There isn't proper air ventilation so WE CANNOT ALLOW SOLVENTS(oil painters), ADHESIVES WITH HEAVY FUMES, OR FIRE (welding, etc.). All utilities are included. We give first dibs to people who could really use a cheap studio.

John O. Roy discovered his love of photography a decade ago when his father-in-law gave him a gift of a digital camera. In the years that followed, John learned about photography through self-actualization, a mentor and through several workshops at a local community college.

In the Spring of 2006, John decided to make photography a larger part of his life’s focus, so he enrolled in a professional photography program at The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. There John refined his photography skills with one on one instruction with world class photographers. The school was a great learning experience for John both personally and professionally. (John finished his course work in the winter of 2007.)

John’s approach to photography is sometimes unique. He is not afraid to use a wide angle lens to give his work a more unique look. In fact, John did a whole series of wide angle portraits for his final project. (To see the images go to the gallery page of his website.)

John has also done work for a multi-million food distributor outside of Boston, a non-profit as well as a creamery in Vermont. His website can be found at http://www.john-roy.com/

John will be having a gallery show at the Peabody Institute Library from June 3 until June 30. John’s images of machinery and of urban landscapes are going to be on display.

Consider: Obviously money's always tight, especially for artists (and models!), but hiring an amateur might not help you best generate that symbiotic energy condusive to the best piece you can create.

AMATEURS: * Dice roll * Might not show up on time / at all * Don't have an aresenal of poses or a good ability to improvise * Don't have the experience to know their limits / what kind of poses are actually do-able for various periods of time * Can be sketchy (pun intended) and reasons for modeling might be of concern * Aren't adept at anticipating what an artist wants and needs * Can be frustrating, a waste of time, or unhelpful to your purposes *

PROS: * Show up on time / Reliable * Work with you to create just what you need * Have experience and an at-ease demeanor throughout the process * Can be more fun to work with because of their expertise, experience and attitude being around artists * Are more efficient and save time * Are worth what you pay them *

P.S. I've suddenly received many, many calls from men who all coincidentally have the same "hobby" of photography. The fine art world continues to face challenges due to the bad economy and other contributing factors. An artist is sometimes faced with a choice to either quit or continue on. For most quiting is not an option. Many artists need direction or help artistically, or in the handling of the business of their fine art career. I’ve seen countless talented artists, many of which lack direction in everything from subject matter, to color choices, knowledge of art trends, to even making the wrong decisions about something as simple as the size of their canvas. Some have no experience in the world of fine art prints or knowledge of the choices available to them. How to photograph their work seems to be another challenge. The most common question I’m asked is “how do I get someone to represent my work on a mass scale or on a national level”? If you fall into any or all of these categories you might consider retaining a manager for a limited period of time to help you launch your art career. I have 30 years experience in the fine art world, have managed artists bringing them to great levels of success, have numerous contacts and credentials and a 100% success track record in securing artists I accept for representation publishing and licensing contracts. Most artists spend their money on art supplies, sometimes classes and more and nothing on the development of their career. My fee is only $500 per month for a 6-month period for management and representation. I’m very selective about who I choose to work with. You must already be very talented, but need help in some of the areas i’ve mentioned above. Please email me a link to your work for review if interested and include your phone #. I’ll contact you only if I feel I can help you get to the next level of success. Also please be advised, I do not sell artwork or work on a commission basis only. I help artists get to the next level and my fee is stated above. If this is not affordable to you please do not contact me. |

John Collinge, editor of Progression magazine, another reviewer I’ve never met, wrote the following in Issue 45, page 140:

"Out of the Labyrinth, the album, is a companion to Out of the Labyrinth, the book—a fascinatingly complementary dual release that really spirits you away when engaging both simultaneously.... It's [the music] rooted in vintage Tangerine Dream/Vangelis with varying hues touching on ethnic, world-beat, and progressive rock.... [The] disk stands alone as a pleasant, mind-expanding trip—great for contemplation or background listening, with shifting tempos and dynamics. (I really like John's echo-y, fuzzy guitar tone and hypnotic sequencing.... As for the book: ...it's an intriguing adventure yarn dealing with God, immortality, aliens, sex, life-extension technology and ... progressive rock! As Spock would say, 'Fascinating.'"

Hello. My name is Lauren and I love the cyber scene. I'm willing to pay someone a descent amount of money to make me a pair of falls or a dread wig. If there are any artists out there that can do this feel free to reach me at the address below. I have attached a picture to display what I'm looking for. Thank you for your time.

My room will be available starting May 24th and the rent is $550 and that includes one half of the garage. I currently use it for welding, and the other half is set up for carpentry. If you're looking for a place to live and would like studio space but can't afford the separate rent you want to come check this place out.

It is a 5 bedroom, HUGE apartment and the room is a good size with a big closet. It will come with a double bed. The roommates are all chill grad students/young pros and we keep the house in pretty good shape. The lease is up in August but the three boys are renewing and are looking for someone to renew with.

If you're interested please let me know by email and we can set up a time for you to come by and check it out. |
