Do not miss your opportunity!
Our goal is to display a series of about 10-20 framed or mounted photographs, depending on size (typically no smaller than 11x14). To submit, please send 3-12 images to the above email address, or in a sealed envelope Attn: Erika to the bakery, along with...
1- a brief bio,
2- how many images total will be in the series,
3- what size each image will be,
4- and contact information.

****** Do not send us ONLY a link to your website or your facebook. We want you to select what you believe to be a strong body of work.******

We are looking for images that are derived from a creative and intellectual background in photography. Traditional photographs are preferred, but digital photography will also be considered if more time and skill has been considered and applied than on just-the-average-vacation-photo.

In exchange for your efforts and creativity we would like to pick the best photographs to be hung on the wall for 4 weeks (or more), as well as host the reception party. Any sales of artwork will go directly through the artist themselves; we just want to show off your work!

We currently have some months booked already, and would like to plan for the rest of the year as soon as possible. Take your time getting the perfect submission, but don't wait too long! This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has just started their career in photography, a student, and professionals!

Once we review your submission, we may send you a follow up email to schedule a meeting. Please plan accordingly for we would like to review your final images in this meeting. Also plan to bring more images than you sent in your original submission so we can make a selective edit together.

Please do not call the bakery. Emails and sealed envelope inquiries only.

Thanks a bunch | I am a photographer working in an amazing building in Newton Highlands. I have my space, which I love.
The space next to me is available. It is about 800 sqft. Most of the windows face south. Then some face north, either way, you get amazing light. Right now it is split into 5 spaces about 100 sqft each. So, you can keep it as is and find some artists to share it with, or get rid of the walls and have one big open space.
There are bathrooms on the same floor, and a kitchen as well. No slop sink, sorry.
It is very easily accessible to routes 95 and 9, and about a ten minute walk from the green line.
The owners of the building are great, so chill. They are on site, so the building is well taken care of.
What do I get out of this you ask? I want some great neighbors. I want to make the building an artist building.
I believe the rent is about $750-$800 a month for the whole thing. Maybe less, but I am sure they would be happy to talk to you more about that. Heat and electric are included.
Please let me know as soon as possible. They are showing it now, but I can show it to you anytime.
One thing you should know is that I believe they want to have a three year lease for the space, again, I am sure there is some wiggle room with that. They other thing is that ou will need to have your own insurance for the space, but that is true for every studio you will find.
I have included some photos of what I did with my space.

| My name is Aerick Sund and I'm an artist that specializes in artistic bodypaint makeup design where I regularly transform the human body into beautiful and imaginative works of art. I've created hundreds of wonderful bodypaintings over the years, however one genre I have yet to fully explore is maternity belly and bodypainting and I would like to change that by adding some great pregnancy bodyart designs to my portfolio.

To achieve my goal I do need the assistance of women who are currently 6-9 months pregnant or will soon be and who would like to have their belly and/or body transformed into a beautiful work of art. The styles of bodyart I'm looking to feature range from bellyart, to belly and bust painting and up to full bodypainting.

The resulting artwork I create would be photographed and you will receive all of the pictures taken of your bellyart which would be a great addition to any photo album, your child's baby book and would even be worthy of framing.

The bodypainting process is relaxing and easy on both you and your baby. The shoots can be done in the comfort of your own home while you sit comfortably on a couch or chair as I paint the design onto you. You can also rest assure that I only use the best professional grade body makeup for all of the designs I create. These FDA approved products are water based makeup and specifically made for the use on the body and are not harmful to you or your baby in anyway.

I've also included some sample photos of the bellyart I've created so if you like what you see and may be interested in having your belly or body painted in a wonderful design that you will cherish forever please contact me.
I’ll be looking forward to creating some beautiful art with you. | 1 FREE complimentary acting class

Portrait sculpture will begin Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 10 am to 1 pm for 6 Sundays. We will create a life-size portrait likeness of our live model (which can be a friend of one of the enrolled artists...model to be paid $10/hr). The procedure will be hands-on and systematic: armature building, planar head construction, bone and muscle anatomy of the head, choosing a pose and expression, details of sculpting features, individual creativity encouraged (unique expressions for each of the artist is possible), photography of the leather-hard stage, firing to terracotta, patina and mounting for exhibit. Over 40 pages of reference photos and information will be distributed, and a CD of class progress will be available at the end of the course. Class fee is the same as figure sculpture, deadline and address the same but indicate ATTN: Portrait sculpture. A discount is offered to veterans of US military service for either course.

The Motion Graphics Festival will soon be back in town, and from April
1st to 5th, ready with a new wave of artists to awaken those sleeping
synapses. Witness and participate in a convergence of motion, sound
and interactivity, embrace new ideas, celebrated the inquisitive
spirit, and at evening’s approach, dance.

The festival debuts the 2010 schedule with screenings by Lumen
Eclipse, “Psychedelia” and “Somatic Death, Soma Life” at the Brattle
Theater on Thursday 1 April. We will journey down the road set by
thirteen artists exploring a new mind-manifesting experience –
challenging afresh our perceptions and pointing towards a reawakening
unhindered by the prosthetic body.

Friday night’s Best of 2009 screening by Stash DVD Magazine highlights
36 commercials, music videos, virals, short films, broadcast designs
and game cinematics from top-tier studios across the world. Something
will grab your attention, setting off a chain reaction and igniting a
fresh set of ideas, which may have been lying dormant for years,
uninspired to leave the confines of its stasis.

Saturday night’s performance by Z.E.E. in the 2012 Lounge at Machine
features a completely integrated audio + video live performance music
set. The visuals are rendered in realtime, seamlessly spread across 3
full-HD resolution projections, achieving a horizontal resolution of
over 4500 pixels at 30 frames per second. The entire evening
experience brought to you by Zebbler, Vermin Street and MGFest.

HELLO FOLKS !

WE THOUGHT WE WOULD PUT OUT AN AD FOR THE PUBLIC ( YOU ) TO GIVE YOU SOME HELPFUL HINTS ON CUSTOM FRAMING

The Art & Framing Council is a non-profit organization of manufacturers, distributors, publishers and retailers working together to raise consumer awareness of art and custom framing and inspire consumers to buy and custom frame more art.

When should you invest in custom picture framing? According to the Art & Framing Council, a non-profit industry organization, a custom framer is always the right choice if the piece is precious to you. “Most of us know that valuable original art or limited edition prints should be custom framed, and today’s professional framers can frame just about anything, from priceless art to a special t-shirt,” said Kimberly Ahern, executive director of the Art & Framing Councill.

Framing Tips & Trends

According to The Art & Framing Council, these are the

10 items you should always take to a custom framer:

1. College Diploma

2. Original Art and Limited Edition Prints

3. Family Portraits

4. Art You Buy On Your Travels

5. Your Special Favorite Kids Drawings

6. Collections (stamps, coins, miniatures, etc.)

7. Photographs of Great Moments (Sports, vacations)

8. Bridal Portrait

9. Baby Portraits

10. Special Newspaper or Magazine Clippings

“But people forget that value is not just about money. If you have something you want to preserve, you should invest in custom framing. Pictures of your children and special pictures by your children become lifelong treasures. A story about your son’s soccer triumph in the local paper will have real meaning for you after he’s grown. Portraits of your kids can never be re-shot. And as for a college diploma, you paid thousands and thousands of dollars to get it. Doesn’t it deserve a good frame?”

Framing trends - as stated on The Art & Framing Council's website at www.artandframingcouncil.org -

"The Silver Revolution

Silver makes a shining work of art out of almost anything framed, which is why silver frames are now the rage. A variety of ornate silver-toned frames, including carved mouldings and wide, layered-look framing, are available with finishes ranging from sleek and shiny to matte or distressed."

"Illusions Of Grandeur

Classic, ornate frames are not just for the Old Masters anymore. Carved frames are making a comeback and taking their place on the walls of America's most sophisticated homes. Professional framers now offer a wonderful range of woods, of colors and textures, silver and gold-tones, and many mixed media mouldings that add up to real design interest."

"Small Art, Big Impact

Small art in large frames is one of the hottest trends in picture framing. It's also great way to create decorating drama. If you love it, flaunt it, - no matter if "it" is a tiny antique, a special wallet-size photo or even a rare postage stamp. Professional framers are surrounding small pieces with large mats, using more than one mat, or sometimes building a frame within a frame to achieve the look. The result is a much larger piece which draws the eye powerfully to the art object and gives it added impact."

AVOID making the serious mistakes that many new and experienced Photographers and Visual artists make when starting their own businesses. They don't have the business coaches, mentors or network of experienced Pros to offer them advice on where to find the products and services they need for their business start-ups. Many spend un-necessary amounts of money on products not tailored for the Photographer and Visual Artist. Stop funding other businesses livelihoods when the money should fund your own ! Avoid the syndrome of the "Blind Leading the Blind" you will experience at on-line help Forums.
I'm either looking to start a semi-official group from scratch or find one to go to. By "semi-offical" I mean a group where people can get together and talk and draw, even critique a bit but that's rooted mostly in meeting people, talking, discussing new ideas and having a good time.

Basically it would be great to go to a coffee shop or something and talk about cartoons with potential deviations into movies and music. More intillectual, art school types who aren't obsessed with "success" would be cool but I don't think the group should be snobby or exclusivist.. I'm the type of guy who goes to the graphic novel section of the library first. I know a bunch of the major graphic novelists but have read some lesser known authors.

Joe Sacco, Jim Woodring, Daniel Clowes, R. Crumb, Harvey Pekar, Chris Ware, Alan Moore, Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima (Lone Wolf and Cub), Taiyo Matsumoto (Black and White/ Number 5.), Charles Burns (Black Hole), Otomo, Kim Deitch, Frank Miller, Art Spiegelman, etc., are in the realm of what I'm talking about. We could also talk about Calvin and Hobbes or saturday morning cartoons...why not?
You don't have to know or like all of these authors but if you do then you have an idea what kind of group I'm talking about.

Write me and let me know of any group like this that's open, if you are interested in starting a new group or whatever. |

We are a group of MFA grads and local Baltimore artists filming a large, scale cross-country documentary project. The ultimate goal for this documentary is to celebrate contemporary art and showcase undiscovered talent, while bringing attention to the fact that art is no longer a centralized commodity in places like New York City or Los Angeles. Contemporary art can be found all across our country in multiple art communities that all feed off one another and work together to make a cohesive, American, artistic landscape. Call 718-522-1267 | I have a great second floor apartment in a nice Victorian with lots of space and plenty of direct sunshine.
I'm looking for a creative type who might be looking for a great place to live.
There is an 'extra' room that I use as a office/studio/guest room. I would be happy to hand it over to a roommate for a very small sum plus half the rent of course, if there where a real need.
The house is very close to Davis Sq and the red line.
As for me, I'm an ol hippie type, very creative, funny, left leaning, hard working and not a bad cook.
Feel free to email me for more info. M/F, straight/gay, long or short term Flexible on dates starting April or later this spring/summer
Thanks very much
Kevin
