Since age 11, when I had my first babysitting job and at age 15 started living with the family for the summer months, working with children has always been a part of my life. Raising my 3 girls on my own since they were 5,4, and 3, foster children, homeless children, a newborn for three years, twins with other siblings, Irish twins, and many others has certainly kept up my experiences with children and my passion for them. At times I have even been a nanny for a family with a child as old as age 16. Caring for children and understanding their needs is the most rewarding job, and also giving them the love and guidance to become wonderful teens is important. I do overnights and also nights and weekends. I love to teach children their abs’s and letter’s. I have great DVD’s for learning to do that as we have fun exercising also. I also have Dora CD’s that we learn the locomotion and other dance’s. The toddlers love it. The Yoga is good for them if they are in dance class. I believe in coloring, reading, learning rather than TV. But, I still love Sesame Street! Children in my care have had reading as young as age 4, and printing there name at age 3…….. I worked for a certified pre-school for 7 years. That is where I picked up my teaching stills. Sometimes children get bored with their own toys so I have a suitcase full of games, coloring books, puzzles, educational activity books to bring along with me. If it’s not me, I hope you find the right match for you and your family. I would also like to add that in my recent years, I had gone back to college to take classes in the medical field. Some of these classes included EKG, Medical Lab Technician, Drawing Blood, CPR, First Aide, Medical Terminology, also to keep up on my foster care experience for the future if I am needed, I have taken many addition classes with the DSS education department. My most recent class has been training with a Nurse on the care of Newborns, breastfeeding and sleep training. (I am also a non-smoker, non- drinker). I would like to add that I have a clean driving record and love to take children out so I just bought 3 high back booster seats with a weight capacity of 30-100 pounds, and a brand new very expensive up to date car seat for infants of 5 to 50 pounds. Also, I purchased a very cute harness that has a backpack on it and that keeps the small child at close reach to me so there is no wondering into the street. I only use that if a parent allows. I would like to add that I have a 22 year old daughter who attended college for Education and is fluent in Spanish. She does tutoring with children. We do all of the same families so she too has great references, and she also teaches church, did the birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese, worked at a preschool, and in her senior year of high school she worked at an elementary school every day in grades 3 and kindergarten. She has also done many Nanny/sitting positions including the overnights for the same nursing agency I was employed at. Through that agency we were given TB shots, Hep B shots, training classes, classes with a nurse, oral and written tests to pass, background checks, Cori checks, insured, bonded and much more. The families I take care of love her and she fills in if I am sick or one family uses the both of us. She too is a non-smoker and drinker. It’s a good variety for the children. Our children are four and eight years of age, and speak Spanish fluently. They learned Spanish from our last nanny, who was with us for six years. We are now looking for someone who can continue to educate our children in Spanish (simply by speaking with them), while also providing top quality childcare in the after school hours. The right candidate will be creative and self motivated. She will know how to play, when to play, and when to bow out and simply supervise. She will suggest activities -- a trip to the library down the street, to the playground, also down the street, or to our backyard, which is filled with all the flowers, ants, sand, birds and sun a child needs to be engaged in the world. We are looking for a Nanny who understands this, and knows how to feel, and even express, delight. Because our children are in school many hours of the day, I am also looking for someone who is interested, for additional money, in helping me manage my business, which I operate out of the home. I am a writer, and over the years it has become more and more difficult for me to keep track of all my emails, appointments, speaking engagements, etc. Ideally our childcare provider would be interested in earning extra money by helping me organize my schedule, and perhaps even more. The person we hire must be willing to do housework. The childcare position comes with some housework attached -- the children's laundry, for instance, or keeping the play room organized. More housework is needed, however, and the ideal candidate would have some interest in cleaning the home more vigorously for extra pay. The childcare hours are from 7:30 am to 8 am, and then from 1:30 pm to 6 pm. This is a total of twenty hours per week, for which we would provide a base pay of 250.00 which includes full room and board on a private floor with private half bath; free internet and computer, free cell phone, free and full car useage on and off the job. In addition you would receive an 80.000 stipend per week because the job involves watching our neighbor's child three afternoons per week for two hours -- 4 to 6 pm. The neighbor's child plays with ours so it is not a problem. For housecelaning you would be compensated 15.00 per hour; dog walking is 50.00 per week; the administrative assistant position is also 15.00 per hour. Clearly the job is flexible and for an enterprising individual, the pay could go well over 600.00 per week, live in. However, the childcare salary of 250 plus the stipend of eighty plus the 50.00 per week for five 1/2 hours dog walks puts the dependable salary, not including room and board, at 380 per week for roughly 20 hours of work! I am a 27 year old, married, female nanny currently living in Norwood. I have been working full time as a professional nanny since December of 2000. I have worked with three families full time and long term, two families part time and long term, and have worked occasionally or temporarily for some families in between! As a nanny, I have cared for children aged from birth (3 days actually) to age 9. I have worked for families with one child, two children and three children. <![CDATA[I am a social work/education professional with over 18 years experience with children of all ages in a variety of capacities, having been a DSS social worker, battered women's advocate, after-school program coordinator, and manager of a family literacy program. However the truest job satisfaction I have known has been the last 3 years of being a full-time nanny. I cared for twin infants, full-time since they were 8 weeks old until they were 2.5, and their mom made the decision to stay home with them. I was also caring part-time for a nine month old for a year and a half. (I still do occasional babysitting for this family.) Currently I have been a full-time nanny to a 13 month old since she was 7 weeks. I have not known such job satisfaction since 1998, when between social work positions I took my first nanny job with 2 boys then aged 12 weeks and 2 and 1/2 years They are now 11 and 13 and it was one of the greatest joys of my life when both they and their mom sang at my wedding a year and half ago. The commitment and connection I form with children runs deep and I take my role in their lives very seriously. I find the work of providing little ones with a daily environment of nurturing, safety and creativity to be its own reward. I am also passionate about reading, gardening, and cooking and love to share these interests with the kids I am working with. In fact I take great pride in having cooked healthy meals three times a day for all these children and involving them in the process. I also researched and worked hard to meet the health and safety needs of the nine month old who is severely food-allergic. My current toddler was a low-birth weight baby, who required careful feeding and monitoring and I am so happy to report how she has grown and thrived this past year. Her parents now have to relocate out of state due to job changes, so I am now searching for a new full-time, live-out position with another family--preferably with infants and /or toddlers whom I can make a long-term commitment to.
