<br>
<br>
<br>
mike levesque here. i've been teaching drums for 15 years with many happy, successful students. i'm a working pro, not a practice pad jockey in a music store broom closet or a gigless academic and i'm looking for a few new students. there are a lot of drum teacher choices on craigslist and i appreciate you checking out my ad. i think i've got a unique take on this stuff and my students always have fun learning.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
about me......
<br>
<br>
<br>
i've made records with david bowie, natalie imbruglia,candybutchers, and dozens of boston and providence independants like the montgomerys,juliana hatfield and sasquatch and the sickabillys. i've done literally thousands of gigs and have major label AND DIY touring experience. i've played on a number of advertising jingles for the baltimore orioles, NESN, the washington nationals and general motors. i've been featured in articles in spin, rolling stone, the boston globe and modern drummer. i'm currently on the road with seven mary three.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
i charge $40 per hour lesson at my place in s.e mass and $120 for intensive 2 hour "house calls" in mass and ri. i'm open to any frequency of drum lessons that fits an individual's schedule and budget. with one 2 hour lesson i can load you up with enough stuff to practice for months!
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
if you like to practice and love music, i can make learning and improving on the kit a fun and rewarding experience. we will go at YOUR PACE and we'll work on what YOU WANT TO LEARN. no specific method, totally custom made to your drum needs. just enough dry technique stuff to get you started or to help you unlearn all those bad drum habits. from then on, all practical, all the time. we will focus on the stuff that makes other musicians turn around and smile at the drummer rather then the stereotypical "it's the drummers fault" nonsense.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
soon you'll be the guy/girl that people WANT on the gig!
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
all styles and levels are welcome. from total, complete beginners to local rock royalty, i can help you become a better musician. you AND your band will simply sound better. whether your goal is to to be a drum shredder or a first call studio superstar, i'd love to be your drum teacher.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
i'll teach you how to get and keep the good gigs and how to deal with the bad ones. you will NOT get this stuff in mom and pop music stores OR berklee....i should know, i'm a dropout!

"Studying with Mike has been a great experience for me. He brings enthusiasm and real world drumming knowledge to each lesson. I've notice a tremendous improvement on how I sound as a drummer and my overall approach to the instrument is more musical. If you want to become a better drummer and have fun as well I would get in contact with Mike."

"As a result of being a student of Mike Levesque's for nearly two years, I have grown more as a player than in the past ten years of studying with an assortment of teachers, experiencing various musical influences and my own independent playing combined. The concepts and techniques that Mike has illustrated in his relaxed but focused drum lessons have helped provide a frame work for the most substantial period of self-development that I have experienced since picking up drum sticks thirteen years ago. I am forever changed for the better as a drummer and through Mike's direction, I have gained a heightened confidence and control that have helped me communicate more effectively with my band in the rehearsal room, the studio and on stage."

"Mike brings a rare combination of enthusiasm, practical experience, technical skill, creativity, and an encyclopedic knowledge of music to every lesson. Exercises that would be pointless drudgery in the hands of a less capable teacher are brought to life by Mike's unique ability to present new material in a musical way that is tailored to my interests and goals as a drummer. I cannot recommend him more highly."

The Player Session Experience introduces our singing instrumentalist's range of experiences, and allows 1 or 2 singer/musicians in the studio for two hours whether playing guitar, piano, or any other instrument they care to bring. This is a great opportunity for getting some classic cover tracks recorded, with the chance to take home 1 - 3 souvenir CDs (included with this package).

The Recording Studio Experience Day
<br>
On arrival, all guests will be shown around our recording studio by the engineer and producer. You're welcome to bring your own refreshments for the session. Souvenir CDs require a photograph in order to prepare the CD artwork. The player will then set up any equipment and discuss requirements with the engineer and producer. If a backing track is needed to bring the music to life, other than the instrument you play, you will have access to our gigantic professional Drum and Virtual Instrument Production Library.

I'm thinking Radiohead, Bjork, Broken Social Scene, Passion Pit, Elliott Smith, Mates of State, Sia, Mew and anything (for lack of a better term) "alternative" The stuff I listed is just what I like. I'm really interested in being in a collaborative group, where everyone is bringing their fabulous taste in music to the table. Basically, I have no desire to sing Kelly Clarkson or Jason Mraz or pretty much any of the standard a capella repertoire. If you feel the same way, send me an email!

"If you have the opportunity to take guitar lessons from Tony Savarino, run, don’t walk, to his studio in South Boston. My guitar playing was stuck in a rut. That is until I met Tony Savarino. I really turned the corner in terms of my guitar playing after only a few lessons with Tony.
He is great teacher with patience and a sense of humor.
Tony is a wealth of guitar knowledge and you will benefit immensely from his tutelage. He is patient and breaks things down into understandable compartments of knowledge. At one point his advice to me was, “Just Zen out on my lesson and you will learn it.” I use that advice every time I pick up the guitar. He is the poet-warrior. He is the Shaolin monk of guitar teachers. He taught me to be patient with myself and learn the instrument. When armed with his sage advice, his patient teaching style, and his immense knowledge you will conquer your guitar."

<br>
"I had a great experience studying under Tony for the past six months. He showed a tremendous amount of knowledge and his Sith-like abilities made it a great environment to expand my skills playing the blues."- Christopher McFarland
<p>
"I have been taking lessons from Tony for about 8 months and can honestly say they are the best guitar lessons I've ever had. I took group lessons when I was younger and what I learned even in 3 months with Tony was 100 times more than what I got out of years of group lessons. I can actually PLAY songs now! And not the same old hokey old tunes I always had shoved on me as a kid; he will figure out whatever song you want to learn in about 5 minutes. It's really quite incredible: he just plays the song on iTunes, tilts his head and listens for a minute, and then starts playing and tells you what the whole chord sequence is. HE'S MAGIC!!!
Seriously, he's a really good teacher and not some old stuffy guy who is going to scold you or make you feel stupid & discouraged if you don't get something right. The cost has definitely been worth it to me. I'd recommend him to anyone who actually wants to learn what the heck they're supposed to be doing and advance beyond just fooling around with a few notes. I have to walk about 3/4 of a mile in the freezing cold to get to his lessons and I wouldn't do that if they weren't worth every cent.
Sincerely, maryelle"
<p>
"I've been playing the guitar for 10 or so years and I was very proud
of the fact that I have never taken any lessons. However, for the
past few years I've found myself stuck playing the same patterns,
chords, and solos over and over again. I watched a great friend of
mine go from being a pretty mediocre (hey, he'll be the first to admit
it!) guitarist to being able to rip through any Clapton solo and
Sultans of Swing after taking some lessons with Tony, so I figured I'd
give it a shot. After only a few lessons I found myself moving around
the fretboard with much more confidence and I was playing things I
never thought I'd be able to play. Whether you're a crusty old
seasoned cocky guitar player like myself or someone who's just getting
started, Tony will give you the chops you need." - Bennet Kolasinski
<br>
<br>
"When I came to Tony I couldn't play anything. After
couple months of lessons with him my playing and
skills improved tremendously. He is very patient with
a great sense of humor and always finds ways to
motivate me when I have hard time playing a lick. Tony
not only helped me improve my playing skill and taught
me music theory but showed me how all the things I
learned so far fit together. He is a great guitar
teacher and much fun to work with." - Stefan Dragnev
<br>
<br>
"If you're looking for an instructor who will take you to the next level based on where you are musically, Tony is your man, he has a great talent for identifying and teaching you what you need to get where you want to go." - Dave Yanolis
<br>
<br>
"I was playing guitar like s&*t, and everyone knew it. I was ham-fisted,
<br>
and a drunkard to boot. Then I went to Tony, with this challenge:
<br>
teach me to play guitar, or I'll eat feces. For short money, he has - by
<br>
god - taught me to play guitar, and saved me from eating feces. I love
<br>
Tony." - Moon Mullins
<p>
"When I decided to apply to a Masters of Music Degree program, I sought out Tony for advice on solo guitar pieces for the audition. With his help in song selection, lessons on technique and preparation advice; I not only gained acceptance to the program but was also awarded a grant. For this I'm eternally grateful. This year you got one person into a Master's Degree program and another in the Rumble. You're a kick-ass teacher Tony." - Michael Isberg
<p>
"When you take lessons with Tony, you're not just taught chords so you can play a Van Halen or a Nirvana riff. You're taught the fundamentals in a way that you become familiar, almost in tune with your guitar. If you find any other knucklehead that can do that, I'll pay for your lessons. Actually, I won't, but you should take lessons with Tony anyway. He's that good." - Jessica Green
<br>
<br>
"Tony kicks the most ass of any guitar teacher out there. He is patient and encouraging, but in no time will have you playing things you didn't think you could play. He will give you a good music foundation while letting you learn the music you like the most. If you're serious about playing guitar, he's the man." - Ami E Albernaz
<br>
<br>
<br>
"I have been taking lessons from Tony for about 4 months now, and to say I have gone far beyond what I expected would be an understatement. He seems to have an innate feel for what the student is capable of, then reaches just beyond, to get the most from you...... I have not had one lesson where I did not come away feeling that I achieved something..." - Alan D.
<br>
<br>
<br>
"I've studied under four different guitar teachers and Tony is the first one that's been able to clearly explain how the different parts - key signature, chord progressions, scale patterns, picking technique - all fit together. My first lesson was six weeks ago and the guys in my band have already noticed a huge difference." - Glen Goland
<br>
<br>
"I have been going to Tony for lessons since this past spring and my playing has improved tremendously. He has helped me work on my left hand technique, improve my picking, introduced me to new approaches to playing various types of licks, and has helped me with my approach to learning other artist's songs. On top of that, Tony is an excellent teacher, an amazing player, and extremely easy to get along and work with" -David Schwartz
<br>
<br>
"Tony is a wonderful teacher. I've only been taking lessons with him for three months, and had never touched a guitar before - now I'm starting to play my favorite songs! Not only do I learn the techniques and theory, but also how to develop an ear for the music, which is amazing, considering I had always thought I was tone-deaf. Tony keeps me motivated; he is patient, yet perceptively authoriative. Plus, his irresistible Sicilian wit makes the whole thing so much fun!" - Anneke Boese

<br>
<br>
Simply put - Balanced Hands represents a concentrated process in achieving equal hand development. It endeavors to realize this through a consolidated series of materials presented in an elevated progression. The approach is both simplistic and practical given its attention to the pacing of the material, practice time, muscle development, technique and musical application. It makes for a more efficient and productive practice session. The concept is designed to develop both the dexterity and flexibility of and between the right and left hands, namely, matched grip style. A greater sense of freedom and execution are enhanced, issues of right side versus left side are dissolved, and the playing process realizes itself as one smooth, continuous motion
<br>
<br>
For those of you who already play match grip style, the approach will greatly help to advance your playing process. For those of you that have made the crossover or are contemplating switching from traditional to match grip style, this approach will help you come up to speed in a relatively short period of time. And, for those of you who feel comfortable with traditional grip, this approach will benefit your musical needs as well.
<br>
<br>
Given today’s musical trends and the growing demands in the drummers’ marketplace, the material presented in this writing will, in the short-term, help one to meet these needs, and, in the long-term, advance one’s own musical process.
<br>
<br>
Volumes I (Balanced Hands) and Volume II (Independent Sense) of my collected works (12 Volumes) are currently available. Both are major works. Vol. III (Equal Hand Development / Approaching Ambidexterity), Vol. IV (Motion Patterns for the Drum Set / Book 1) and Vol. V (Drum Patterns for Contemporary Rock Styles) are also available. The newest addition is Vol. IX (Latin Styles for Today’s Drummer).

Also, If you're also taking the approach of sending out your MS page to prospective managers, promoters, club owners or booking agents etc., the increased numbers will obviously help spark the initial interest in you and leave a far better first impression. Quick note : Once in a while an artist (usually involved only in the performing aspect of the business) will seem a little skeptical or hesitant and think this may be a form of cheating in one way or another. Not at all. You're not taking an exam or in some kind of race or competition against anybody. You're just marketing and hyping yourself a little by raising your numbers because that attracts attention. It's a minor form of promoting yourself, nothing else. People are much more likely stop and check you out if your numbers are higher, which in turn will increase your plays, friends, fans etc. You're only cheating yourself when you pass up easy opportunities that bring attention to you. If all this sounds like you, then you might be the right bassist for our band. Please take a listen to the demo recordings at www.ExperienceElectricCircus.bandcamp.com and play along.
<br>
<br>
***Please note:
<br>
- The demo recordings were not recorded live, nor with the current lineup of musicians. All instruments were recorded by the same person (me). I'm not a bass player.
<br>
- They do not necessarily reflect the way we sound now, nor the specific genre in which we play. They are merely for reference to give you a ballpark idea of the genre and to help you learn the tunes before attending an audition.

<br>
We have been rehearsing songs based on these demos for about 4 months.

We have yet to play a gig because we need a bass player.

Everybody is welcome to learn , from Begginers to Advanced players, to learn from scratch ,or enhance/add new ideas to your playing. I'm a professional guitarist with more than 15 years of teaching and performing experience in different countries and at several places.
<br>
I play several styles from Jazz, funk, rock, blues to south american music or latin music.
<br>
All these topics are taught slowly and patiently, focusing on playing tunes you like and without pressure and relaxing. There is no need to learn everything, you can choose on what you want to focus to reach your goal.
<br>
<br>
I can help you out with :
<br>
1. Technique (left and right hand positions and picking)
<br>
2. Knowledge of your fretboard (horizontally and vertically and where the notes are and how to find them) based on intervals (seconds, thirds, etc)
<br>
3. Harmony ( CHords: Triads, 7thchords, inversions, tensions and alterations) How to use them to understand a song and be able to improvise or rearrange or compose.
<br>
4. Single notes (using scales, triads, arpeggios) to improvise and/or play solos.
<br>
5. Rhythm (using musical figures to create different motifs or phrases and playing over deifferent time signatures 4/4, 3/4...6/8, 12/8...5/4,7/8...) also several rhythms or music styles , like Blues, Rock, Swing to Afro-Peruvian music, Cumbias, Tangos, Bossa nova, Samba, Boleros, Salsa, Merengue, among others.
