Started in 2001 as an independent record label by Mark Kates (former Geffen Records A&R man and Grand Royal Records president), Fenway has put out records with Read Yellow, Unbusted, The Damn Personals, Consonant, The Kickovers as well as compilations like In Our Lifetime, and Hot Stove, Cool Music.
We are busier now more than ever and are looking to set ourselves up with a great crew of interns.

The opportunities for learning at Fenway as an office intern are considerable. The atmosphere is exciting, stimulating and fast-paced; every day here is more or less like a new job; some days you're an accountant, others you are a designer, a promoter, a researcher, a critic, a secretary or a web administrator. We need people who want to be here and want experience - people that are proactive and can think creatively in the rapidly-changing world of today's music industry. This is an ideal internship for a college student who has the desire to build the skills and relationships needed to succeed in the music business.

Fenway is a great place to intern - putting on shows, meeting fans and bands, and working to make the music of our amazing artists more accessible to the world. Consistency, ingenuity, taking the job seriously and having a desire to learn about the music industry are our biggest requirements. Here are a few others:
- Professionalism
- Loves music
- Follows the music scene
- Computer literate
- Responsible
- Takes initiative
- Goes to shows
- Punctuality
- Creativity

Additional valued skills:
- Web design (Html, dreamweaver)
- Graphic Design
- Experience in the music industry
- Creative writing

We're hoping to have each intern in 2 or more days a week at our office in Porter Square, Cambridge, as well as participating in handing out fliers at concerts. Though this is an unpaid internship there are plenty of perks, including concert tickets.

We will are currently interviewing potential candidates for Summer 2008 and the upcoming Fall. If this is something that interests you please send your resume and a short cover letter ASAP to phil@fenwayrecordings.com
OK...so what's the deal, you're asking.

Well, I'm a voice teacher who gets $40 per hour for a lesson and that's great. I love doing it. I'm friendly, supportive, but demanding (in a nice way).

But I'm looking for a very special kind of student. Maybe you or a friend or relative of yours, that I'd coach for free up to 4 lessons just for the fun of having a great student. The kind who has a voice with potential, who wants to be a singer really BAD and is willing to work hard at it.

So, what are the qualifications?

1. You have to have, or believe you have, some kind of gift for singing that can be developed into a voice that people want to pay money to hear.

2. If you already have a voice that people are paying to hear, which I call a professional quality voice, you probably don't need me. But if you feel there's room for improvement I'd be glad, if you have a demo, to give you a free evaluation on what it is I think you need to work on and some specifics on how to do it.

3. The ideal student would currently have a voice coach or have had one or two in the past. Why? I'm looking for the challenge of being compared to other voice coaches...because I honestly think there's a lot of them out there that aren't that good when it comes to pop/soul/rock/blues/jazz/country, etc.

4. A flexible schedule is helpful. Weekdays up to 2pm are best for me. But for the right person I'd fit something in...even on a weekend. (Showing up, and showing up on time is important...missing a lesson means no more freebies...don't mean to be harsh but I want students who take their singing as seriously as I do.)

5. You want to be coached on anything but opera or show tunes...no offense intended because I love show tunes...it's just that there are already a lot of good teachers out there for that.

6. And now the BIG one - you actually have to have the time to devote an average of pretty close to an hour per day to practicing. That's my definition of someone who wants to sing. Practicing less than that to me is someone who WISHES they could sing...not someone who WANTS to sing.

If you think this might work for you here are some good free video voice lessons that cover the basics so if we work together we can skip this stuff and hit the road running. The dude is Mark Black and he keeps it pretty simple and straight forward. http://www.expertvillage.com/interviews/voice-lessons.htm

Another good resource is the free lessons by Mark Baxter at
http://www.voicelesson.com/html/lessons/free_lessons.htm These aren't video, they're written, but they are really good and maybe more for you advanced singers out there. Let me know what you think of them.

Ok...that's about it. Hope to hear from someone.

not looking to play out yet I am more interested in writing some sick songs and getting them really tight, Once we have some songs everyone is happy with then we can try to get some gigs. This is a low stress project, just looking to practice 1 or 2 times a week if time.

We're an original rock band rehearsing in Windsor Locks, CT at the moment (it's kind of a hike from around Boston, but the guitarist makes trek every week so carpooling or whatever is an option). We've got a bassist, guitarist and drummer, and we're looking for someone with killer pipes to complete the mix (we're eventually looking to add a dedicated lead guitarist, but vocals is the immediate issue). We play straight up, simple, riff based rock n' roll. Fun tunes that are dripping with sleaze and attitude. You can listen to some rough demos we've recorded at http://myspace.com/rolemodelsrock . Not great recordings, the songs have changed a bit, but you'll get an idea of what we're playing.

What do we want in a singer? Good question. We'll know it when we hear it. We're open to just about anything at this point - so long as you don't suck and have the proper attitude about it we'd love to hear you. Good stage presence is vital, we want a frontman, not just someone with a pretty voice. Songwriting is a plus, but we all write, so its not necessary. Male/Female is unimportant, and we're not that picky about age, just be in the ballpark (we're early-mid twenties, don't bother if you're pushing 40).

Our musical tastes/influences run the gambit. Some of our favorites include Guns N' Roses, 70s Aerosmith and AC/DC, Hanoi Rocks, Quireboys, Dogs D'amour, Concrete Blonde, Electric Angels, Rolling Stones (through the early 70s, when they were still amazing), David Bowie, Vains of Jenna, Suicide Twins, Cinderella, Ratt, Faster Pussycat, Motorhead, The Replacements, Van Halen, Pantera, Tool, The Who, Skid Row, New York Dolls, The Wildhearts... If you have no idea who these bands are, or can't stand them, you probably aren't right for us. | Come hang out with ARALIS and some other awesome local bands. Have some drinks with us!

| Original Rock Band Seeks Drummer

Slambango is seeking a high energy drummer with excellent endurance as well as chops. Double-bass should be used as a flavor, not a foundation. Someone with some jazz, blues, rock, & metal background/appreciation would be perfect.

What people are saying about Slambango:

SLambango doesn't leave much to the imagination with their name. You know exactly what you're in for when you push this CD into your player...a healthy does of power-soaked hard rock complete with blistering guitar solos, bombastic bass lines, powerhouse drumming and gut-wrenching vocals. Slambango architects Dave Dawson on vocals and guitar and Kevin Gilligan on bass and vocals make a formidable duo that takes the best from bands like Black Sabbath, DIO, and Judas Priest and designs a sound and vibe all their own. Anyone who says heavey metal is dead hasn't heard the dynamic sounds of Slambango. These guys rock with fierce abandon. Best songs include the blazing album opener "RAIN", the Ozzy inspired "Save Me", "The Deal", and the hard driving grind of "Hangman"(one of the albums best tracks). The Boston club scene is ripe for a metal act this good. Outstanding!

We are looking for a bass player for our jam / band on Saturday nights, we play every other weekend mostly for fun but we do want to progress and get the sound as good as we can. We have our own well equipt cozy free jam space in Framingham and a really laid back attitude. We would much rather have a moderate player with a great attitude than a player extrordinare who's got the personality of a pencil eraser.
We are all grown up now in our 30's-ish and we relax and enjoy ourselves and jam our asses off. A few beers / whatever is fine ( we do !! ) just PLEASE no falling down drunks or junkies....

The music is best described as "*f1%klosh&2=m4&"...which mean there is no set path yet. We do everything from 70's "All right now" Free to "Vaseline" STP, "gouge Away" Pixies, maybe some rockabilly, Rev. Horton Heat "400 Bucks"
Black Sabbath, Aerosmith.. It's pretty much a mixed bag of straight forward Rock & Roll.

In time if everyone is comfortable maybe to a small gig now & then just for giggles but not looking to be a working band, There are alot of little corner spots around here..couple hundred bucks for the night, hang out with your friends...etc..hopefully it covers the bar tab...LOL
We have no singer now so we all just pitch in and cover what we can so if you are so inclined you can have at it as well.

We are really looking for someone who can be versitile and groove on the punk as well as the classic rock as well as some bluesy stuff not just one in particular.

We all have careers and families and stuff comes up we know this but are trying to do this pretty regularly so a little commitment is needed.

Looking for hard rock style, with some catchy hooks, and some experimental aspects, alternative rock, nu-metal, and middle eastern styles.

Main emphasis is singing. Must sing naturally in tune. Screaming / heavy

Definitely not: emo style, operatic singing (howard jones killswitch engage style), constant hardcore vocals.

We are looking to be successful worldwide-renowned recording artists. | Pinewood Derby ( http://myspace.com/pinewoodderby ) is looking for a new lead singer. We need a great new female vocalist. We are based around Allston/Brighton/Brookline. Musical knowledge/sense and experience is preferred, but as long as you have a great voice and you'll enjoy performing in the studio and live, that's all that truly matters. Writer/producer/engineer Jack owns professional recording equipment, so recording is free, frequent, and fun. Check out our old demos on our myspace (linked above)and please e-mail pinewoodderbymusic@gmail.com if you're interested, and please attach a sample of your voice if you have something recorded - even a lousy laptop recording will do just fine. If not, other arrangements can be made. Thanks, and looking forward to hearing you! | We need a drummer. Southern rock/blues/metal/punk. Along those lines. COC,BLS,Lynyrd Skynyrd,Old Guns,ZZTop, Copy and paste unclelefty.net to hear some songs. If you can play them exactly as they are or better, and you are interested, talk to us. We have some shows booked now and we get constant offers for more but we currently have a fill in drummer who is swamped with other projects so we have to turn them down. We have a free, secure practice room in North Andover, MA. We usually practice once a week from around 730 to around 11. We dont care how fast you can play double bass or how big your kit is or what kind it is. We just want a good shit who can play the hell out of the drums in the style we are playing. Again, if you are able and interested, contact us and we will give you a cd. Learn the songs, come on down, drink some beers, make some music.

I love a lot of music. Pretty much radio/arena-ish rock. I like rap. I don't write it, but I like it. I love to dance. At clubs. On stage. When I play guitar, I f**kin rock. But I like to roll to. I've fronted original and cover bands and been a solo acoustic artist, but now I want to...I HAVE TO...ROCK! I am all about writing original music, putting a good package together, and seeing where we can get. Heck, I'd really just like to jam and see what we can come up with first. The connection of the people playing the music is pretty much what it's all about. I have been writing cool new rock tunes lately, but have no motivation to record them b/c I'd rather finish writing them with other people. Those other people probably play drums, bass or guitar, or a combination of...Rock music needs a little help right now. Help me breathe some life into it. Thanks!
