There is a bus stop right in front of the building (a 5-10 min bus ride from Harvard Square) and there is free off-street parking behind the building. Easy load-in/out: there is no elevator to have to deal with. The room has its own electric circuit and four duplex outlets. The room is big enough for a three piece band (not much more than 100 square feet) and rents for only $250 per month including all utilities. This is a very clean and professionally maintained facility. We are looking for serious bands only that will treat the space well. Started in 2001 as an independent record label by Mark Kates (former Geffen Records A&R man and Grand Royal Records president), Fenway has put out records with Read Yellow, Unbusted, The Damn Personals, Consonant, The Kickovers as well as compilations like In Our Lifetime, and Hot Stove, Cool Music. <![CDATA[ OK...so what's the deal, you're asking. Well, I'm a voice teacher who gets $40 per hour for a lesson and that's great. I love doing it. I'm friendly, supportive, but demanding (in a nice way). But I'm looking for a very special kind of student. Maybe you or a friend or relative of yours, that I'd coach for free up to 4 lessons just for the fun of having a great student. The kind who has a voice with potential, who wants to be a singer really BAD and is willing to work hard at it. So, what are the qualifications? 1. You have to have, or believe you have, some kind of gift for singing that can be developed into a voice that people want to pay money to hear. 2. If you already have a voice that people are paying to hear, which I call a professional quality voice, you probably don't need me. But if you feel there's room for improvement I'd be glad, if you have a demo, to give you a free evaluation on what it is I think you need to work on and some specifics on how to do it. 3. The ideal student would currently have a voice coach or have had one or two in the past. Why? I'm looking for the challenge of being compared to other voice coaches...because I honestly think there's a lot of them out there that aren't that good when it comes to pop/soul/rock/blues/jazz/country, etc. 4. A flexible schedule is helpful. Weekdays up to 2pm are best for me. But for the right person I'd fit something in...even on a weekend. (Showing up, and showing up on time is important...missing a lesson means no more freebies...don't mean to be harsh but I want students who take their singing as seriously as I do.) 5. You want to be coached on anything but opera or show tunes...no offense intended because I love show tunes...it's just that there are already a lot of good teachers out there for that. 6. And now the BIG one - you actually have to have the time to devote an average of pretty close to an hour per day to practicing. That's my definition of someone who wants to sing. Practicing less than that to me is someone who WISHES they could sing...not someone who WANTS to sing. If you think this might work for you here are some good free video voice lessons that cover the basics so if we work together we can skip this stuff and hit the road running. <![CDATA[ We're an original rock band rehearsing in Windsor Locks, CT at the moment (it's kind of a hike from around Boston, but the guitarist makes trek every week so carpooling or whatever is an option). We've got a bassist, guitarist and drummer, and we're looking for someone with killer pipes to complete the mix (we're eventually looking to add a dedicated lead guitarist, but vocals is the immediate issue). We play straight up, simple, riff based rock n' roll. Fun tunes that are dripping with sleaze and attitude. Good stage presence is vital, we want a frontman, not just someone with a pretty voice. Songwriting is a plus, but we all write, so its not necessary. Male/Female is unimportant, and we're not that picky about age, just be in the ballpark (we're early-mid twenties, don't bother if you're pushing 40). Our musical tastes/influences run the gambit. Some of our favorites include Guns N' Roses, 70s Aerosmith and AC/DC, Hanoi Rocks, Quireboys, Dogs D'amour, Concrete Blonde, Electric Angels, Rolling Stones (through the early 70s, when they were still amazing), David Bowie, Vains of Jenna, Suicide Twins, Cinderella, Ratt, Faster Pussycat, Motorhead, The Replacements, Van Halen, Pantera, Tool, The Who, Skid Row, New York Dolls, The Wildhearts... We are looking for a bass player for our jam / band on Saturday nights, we play every other weekend mostly for fun but we do want to progress and get the sound as good as we can. We have our own well equipt cozy free jam space in Framingham and a really laid back attitude. We would much rather have a moderate player with a great attitude than a player extrordinare who's got the personality of a pencil eraser. The music is best described as "*f1%klosh&2=m4&"...which mean there is no set path yet. We do everything from 70's "All right now" Free to "Vaseline" STP, "gouge Away" Pixies, maybe some rockabilly, Rev. Horton Heat "400 Bucks" Black Sabbath, Aerosmith.. It's pretty much a mixed bag of straight forward Rock & Roll.
