You will find the tints and tones and expressions that you might have expected to see in a fine painting. These are rare works of an artist who can see beyond the constraints of photographic technology and create an impressionistic image that comes as much from the mind of a painter as from the hands of a photographer. <![CDATA[Hi there, my name is Brit and I'm an art major looking to give lessons to children and teens in the Charlotte or Huntersville areas. I'm extremely versatile with mediums and I'm willing to teach the properties and correct practices for each type of drawing and painting material. I'm great with kids and I'd love to teach them the principles of design and color theory in a fun way that they will understand. We would be working with graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, water-soluble colored pencils, watercolor, gouache, oil pastel, acrylics, and non-toxic (water soluble) oil paints. All the materials we'd be working with are high quality high pigment ratio mediums - never Crayolas, nor anything of that generally low quality. I will provide materials for the first three or four sessions so we can determine which materials your child enjoys most before you buy. We will work on projects that will improve logic, creativity and hand-eye coordination, and the result will be art that you would never expect from a/your child. You will want to frame every single piece. My fee is $20/hr for two to three hour sessions. I'm available to come to your home, or the student can come to mine. (I would prefer students come to my home because we can experiment more freely with different mediums, instead of being confined to what I bring with me.) I'm willing to teach students from five years to high school age, and I'm sure I can bring out the best artist in all of them. Faux Painting has become a popular method for those seeking home improvements and making changes that add value. But faux painting doesn't have to be limited to walls. Cabinets are very expensive and time consuming to replace. However, Faux & More can save you an average of 70% of what it would cost to replace them. Take your average oak cabinets. They work well, but have no personality or charm. Maybe the hardware is also outdated. Buying new cabinets means you get whatever is in their catelogue. So, let's explore further. When thinking of faux finishing, what's most important to you? Colors, textures, patterns, shadows, special effects? Here are some cool finishes that can incorporate all of these elements: Stone block walls - this can be done in any color you wish. Color perception can create texture and give a 3-D effect using shadows and high-lights. What about a stucco effect on your walls? A step further would be to have the stucco chipping off of underlying brick or stone blocks. Maybe add some cracking to the stucco. I can even have ivy vines growing out of the cracks in the stucco! What kind of room would benefit and how can I decorate it? A nice entryway would be perfect. Doesn't have to be large; just has to be a space that is characteristically designed to be the entryway. Maybe place some stone columns or stone statues and/or a bench to give it an outdoor feel. Another great place would be in the living room as an accent wall. This would look especially nice if you have a fireplace. Consider the master bathroom. Do you have a garden tub or a "cove" where the tub is? A stone wall would create a warm and relaxing environment with nice candles flickering on the edges of the tub. You will feel like you have spent time in a spa! Some bands we like: Unruh, Distopia, Disrupt, F-Minus, Spazz, Leftover Crack, Casualties, Nasum. (I personally like Minor Threat) We are not pro. We don't have attitudes. We do have skill, a little knowledge, creativity, and anguish. There is a guitar player we could get to play.
