<![CDATA[I am looking for a collaborator for a Fantasia-esque series of animated shorts. The first short, a 3D animation, is a week or two away from completion. The next two shorts are silhouette animations (search for "Prince Achmed" on YouTube for an example). Another planned short will be made in a more traditional, Disney style. (The remaining shorts have yet to be determined.) I am proficient in the writing, music, and filmmaking aspects of production, but my drawing/animation skills are still in their infancy, so I could use the help to get things rolling faster. 2D animation experience is essential. Must be able to both work remotely and meet regularly on the Northside. Compensation will be entirely profit-sharing and based on the level of involvement. You can sign on for one or more of the projects, but I am really looking for a long-term partner and collaborator, as I have larger projects on the horizon, including a Japanese-style anime, and a 3D-animated mini-series. <![CDATA[Some people have nothing better to do than be in other people's business. When I was approached by Center On Halsted curator about the "Cycles" exhibit at the Center on Halsted which exhibited last month I was told that it was a GLBTQ exhibition of female photographers. I was not aware that the exhibition would dubbed a "lesbian" show. I laughed about it since I am in fact 1/2 gay (menaing that I am bi) I had no idea that my sexuality, not my art, would apparently consume the thoughts of Ms. Dianna Long. I first came into contact with Liz Long Gallery in fall of 2007 when I applied for an exhibition of black artists. I withdrew because of the $35 fee, which is the first sign of a gallery that is not well established. I do not need to pay anyone to show my artwork in Chicago. Since then Dianna has remained on my mailing list. Around the time of the show I sent out an e-mail joking that although I'm not technically a lesbian (or at least not all of the time) I have been called worse and then went on to state the details of the exhibition. Apparently Ms. Long, whom, by the way, I have never spoken to verbally or in person, decided to send a hand-written note on lined notebook paper to the Free Press stating that I was a hetero! Gasp! Perhaps if Ms. Long had attended the exhibtion she would have met my ex-girlfriend. Maybe I should give her the phone numbers to a couple of my bitter exes mistresses and they could tell her how long my fingers are or how quickly my tongue vibrates. Or perhaps Ms. Dianna Long could get a fuckin' life. So my fellow artists, if you are thinking of exhibiting at Liz Long Gallery, think again. This woman, who doesn't know me from Adam (but will very soon *wink wink*) apparently has no time to for promoting your show, she's too busy writing the Free Press about me.]]>

<![CDATA[The Orphan Works Act of 2008, a reconstruction of copyright law, will be voted on within the next month. Here is what it is and how it affects you as an artist: -current copyright law protects anything you create, registered or not. -the Orphan Works Act will require you to register any work you produce, from a doodle on a napkin to work displayed in a gallery. This means you must pay in order to reserve the rights to your artwork. -artists must register work in a database that is to be created by the public in order to control infringement of their work. Any unregistered work is up for grabs to be used by anyone for any reason. With no limit on how many registries can be created and no set number on how many must be searched in order know if a work is registered, your work can legally be stolen by any individual or organization/corporation.
