| Got the name of the band: Monkee and his Organ Grinders. I'm the Monkee, need some Organ grinders, preferably female and hot. Going to wow the audience with beaver shots..............women that are featured in this group will be wearing short short skirts and nothin underneath. This will bring big bucks for the band and serious notoriety. The music (which is always secondary in importance) will be junky, sort of trashy like the New York Dolls or Hanoi Rocks, but harder edged like that porno chick's band who used to sing "Butcher Baby"

You might be getting the drift of this project and want to get in on the ground floor. Will be accepting applications for road crew, uglier the better. I don't expect to be a vocal prodigy or anything like that, but I'd like to do something along the lines of like Trent Reznor, Chino Moreno, Ben Gibbard, Josh Homme. They are all very different singers. I am aware of that, but I'd like to take a little influence from each.

Peace! | Drummer putting together a Bill Bruford tribute band (Brewford Stew) featuring the music of Bruford, Yes, King Crimson, UK, Levin/Bruford, Moraz/Bruford, Kazumi Watanabe and more.

Seeking musicians with excellent chops and an affinity for this type of music. While the idea of the band is centered around the music touched by a great drummer, the parts of the other musicians involved with him are demanding and impressive.

Seeking musicians who are versatile enough to cover the following talents:

Bass: Jeff Berlin/Chris Squire/Tony Levin/John Wetton
Guitar: Alan Holdsworth/Robert Fripp/Adrian Belew
Keys: Dave Stewart (not the Eurythmics guy)/Rick Wakeman
Vocals: John Wetton/Jon Anderson

Most of the music does not have vocals, so I wouldn’t want a separate singer, necessarily. If there’s a bassist with vocal skills or possibly a second guitarist who can sing well, that would cover it.

Multi-instrumentalists welcome, especially the above who might play a horn or two. I anticipate the scheduling of guest musicians at performances to do some of this.

I know the niche exists for this in Chicago among musicians and enthusiasts alike. I am very dedicated to this and am in the process of engineering and building an enormous electronic-acoustic hybrid drumkit for this venture.

I have a 9-5 career and am not looking to tour or play original music. Looking for established folks with similar situations. I would eventually like to play out once or twice monthly. This will be a summer building project. Serious and mature only, please.

Specifically looking for a hot new guitarist, but drummers will also be permitted to audition. Must be a highly-skilled musician. No beginners. Back-up vocals a huge plus. Also, this band has a large female fan base, so all members must have a hot, marketable look. Must be ready to commit to this band exclusively. Must be available to do a national tour. The auditions are being held tomorrow, Saturday May 17th from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts at 777 N. Green (near the corner of Chicago Ave. and Halsted). When you arrive, go to the Theater Studio and ask for Sarah or Cher. If you plan to attend the auditions, you MUST email your full name and contact number along with a brief description of your musical background (training, performance experience, other bands, etc.) to makingtherealband@yahoo.com. Be sure to indicate which instrument you play. Also attach at least one picture of yourself (mandatory). If you have a website or myspace page, please direct us to it. We must receive this email confirmation from you in order to place you on the audition schedule. | Westmont is having a great event all weekend - car shows, Muddy Waters exhibit, lots of live music, and great stuff to do for all ages.

We bring our PA and a few hundred of our obnoxious friends - all of whom won't be paying anything to get into the street festival, nor will they be buying anything for that matter - and all you have to do is pay for all of the logistics of the festival, the staff, tons of food and liquor, and you'll have to clean up all of our crap when we leave too, so be sure to factor that into your budget.

A lot of our friends tend to get naked when they're hammered and hopped up on goofballs, which they will be, so your festival will get a lot of exposure.

We are looking for someone in our age range (20-25), someone that is talented, that is able & willing to practice 2-3 times a week. We need someone that is also going to be available for gigs once we get a good set. What we really don't want is someone with an EGO, or anyone that is already in a band(unless your planing on leaving), everyone in the band right now are really good friends and thats what we are looking for.

We are trying to bring good rock back to the world! Our sound is very much like Velvet Revolver, or Operator. Here is a link that shows you what our goal is for the music: http://youtube.com/watch?v=dxMB2Lz9M0E Thats not what we necessarily want the singer to sound like, just an example of the overall sound. Some of our favorite bands are Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin, Dream Theater, Queens of the Stone Age, and Guns N' Roses..to name a few..

Just to note, we are NOT a cover band, we are writing our own music, but we may learn some covers to fill in our set list at gigs. If you have a PA, that is a plus, we currently do not have one, but can rent one out for any audition or gig.

We have two records out, one on Future Appletree Records (www.futureappletree.com) and the other on Deep Elm Records (www.deepelm.com).

We don't play live to often but this, hopefully, will change. We've played at Schubas and the Empty Bottle around town and also in Iowa City, Minneapolis, Madison and a few other towns. We also went to SXSW this year.

We're working on the new record and need someone who can commit to practice one night a week (Tuesday). We have a space with drums in it.

Having owned a sound company twice in my life, I can tell you that sound men don't work for exposure. A sound guy does a tough, all day job that begins and ends with loading a lot of heavy gear in and out of a truck. Why do you think any decent sound crew would come work for you for drink tickets? Are the other vendors/services at your event working for free? I'm sure you can get free beer, food, porta-potties, and all the other stuff, right? Tell the porta-potty company about all the exposure you will give them and I am sure they will donate their time and service. What you want should cost at least $400 a day from any real sound company that can handle a large event like yours. Do you do your job for drink tickets? You disgust me, and, if won't pay someone reputable to provide decent production for your event, you deserve the bad sound and angry bands that you are going to get. | THE DECCAS Chicago's Premier '60s Style Girl Group Needs Third Singer We are looking for a girl aged 21-35 who can learn music and harmonies FAST. WE ARE NOT A NOSTALGIA ACT!!! That means you will not be singing Supremes covers or any other obvious girl group tunes. We play places like Schubas, the Hideout, Dark Room etc. We do originals and obscure covers.
Please no flakes, cheesy theater types (you know who you are), or singers who only listen to mainstream music. The first weekend (May 24 & 25) routinely draws between 4,000 and 6,000 people. In the past, the market has been covered by the NY Times and Lucky Magazine. It's a great opportunity for exposure.
We're looking for someone who would owns a PA system who would be willing to run outdoor sound for the bands. We're hoping to find someone who would do this in exchange for some food & drink tickets, transportation compensation, and most importantly: great exposure & self-promotion.

We're not looking for any grand set-up - but the sound system must be strong enough to project outdoors. NOTE: The equipment is NOT expected to be loud enough for 4,000 - 6,000 people.

I just moved to Chicago and looking to form a band with my friend who already lives here. I play guitar and he plays guitar & sings. We’re looking to put some sort of Art, Post, or Prog Rock band together. Something that is aggressive and has a lot of energy, but can also slow down when needed into more moody moments but still maintains a good groove throughout. Also would like to explore some interesting time signatures and different styles.

We're looking for:

- Drummer
- Bass player
- keyboard player or some kind of electronic looper/laptop/or noise manipulator person

...also would not be opposed to jamming with a sax player

We like a lot of different bands and music styles, and here are some bands we really dig: Radiohead | Slint | At The Drive-In | Sonic Youth | The Pixies | Rage Against The Machine | Fugazi | Smashing Pumpkins | Sleater-Kinney | The Hold Steady | Flaming Lips | Beck | Queens Of the Stone Age | Mr. Bungle | Primus.

We’ve both been in bands before in New Orleans before we moved here and gigged a shit load so we’re looking for people who take it seriously and can practice at least once a week. In fact, my last band played last year’s Voodoo Festival in New Orleans before Rage Against the Machine.

We don’t really have a practice space, but we’ll figure out the logistics if/when we get some feedback on this. We’re both 23 so looking for people close to our age range please…think 21-29.

My friend’s old band:

http://www.myspace.com/brainrex

- My friend doesn’t sing on any of these really except backup on IHADADOG, but plays guitar on all these tracks.

I’m not saying these are the sounds we’re going for, but it gives you an idea of where we’re coming from. However, PLEASE listen to them. If you don't dig Teacake or some of the other stuff...might want to pass on contacting us.

BUT if this DOES sound like something that may interest you, please shoot me an e-mail. We’d love to get something going very soon. We want to keep this as originals for now and concentrate on writing new and innovative material and hopefully gigging soon afterward.
