Their cries, whimper and howls are hidden away from civilized lives in our town, yet unknowing consumers are increasing the cruel treatment of these caged and helpless animals through the choices they make.

Do you care enough to volunteer to spend some time 2-3 times a week to find animal -related news to post blog entries on myspace and facebook, or better still create your own blog / website? E.g. see my website/ blog : http://www.Heart4Animals.com

I started updating this website with animal-related news because the more people know what animals go through, the more people will refrain from buying products which will further increase animal suffering e.g. fur / fur-lined sweaters / outercoats (see picture below).
Part 2

If you or if you know of anyone who know Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Farsi, or any other language please enlist their participation as these are enormous markets that not exposed to the cruelty involved in the animal trade, and also, the animal organizations have not been able to penetrate into these markets deep enough. .( See http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/29/uncategorized/animal-suffering-continues-in-korea.htm Try to enlist people who know such language to start blogs / facebook / myspace / zorpia accounts to spread the message around.

Please tell your friends / relatives about the horrible cruelty involved at http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm to raise their awareness and ask them not to buy any fur-lined sweaters / outercoats as an animal has to go through an agonizing and slow death to provide the fur.
Needed Donated Space for Testing/Storing Used Computers for Overseas Schools

The local Chicago chapter of World Computer Exchange needs a secure space about the size of a two-car garage with available electricity. The space will be used for drop-offs when volunteers are present and then testing and storing of the equipment until we have 200 full sets to fill a shipping container. The donation of this space to our nonprofit is tax deductible.

World Computer Exchange works to bridge the digital divide for the world's poorest youth by collecting donated, working computers and shipping them overseas to schools, orphanages, and libraries. Our volunteers also work to strengthen these schools and youth organizations in developing countries. We ship working Pentium 3 and above computer sets to groups that have submitted sustainable plans for placing, using, and caring for these computers.

While giving these computers new lives, it also helps the environment by keeping computers out of landfills. Taking apart an old computer and manufacturing a new one makes 25 times the carbon footprint.

Visit www.WorldComputerExchange.org for more information.

Please contact Sumona at sdey@worldcomputerexchange.org
Reykjanes has something for everyone. Steeped in a rich vein of history, folklore and tradition, the region is also home to some of the world's greatest geological wonders, including the Reykjanes Ridge, meeting place of the Eurasian and American continental plates. Teeming with a wealth of bird and marine life whose habitats lie amid some of Iceland's most spectacular coastal scenery, Reykjanes is the natural choice for all lovers of the outdoors. In this town, the authorities are very open for new ideas, for example here you can find the former NATO base which is now becoming a University village and a centre of art and film making.

The authorities are now planning to build “a home for Trolls” near to the port of the town, close to the center. Like elves, trolls are also part of the ancient heritage of the Scandinavian mythology. Although they are human-like in form, they are still inhumanly strong, huge and ugly. They are very often thought to be fearsome and cruel creatures. But, like elves, trolls often treat people as they are treated and they return favors for favors, exerting vengeance if harmed. Trolls live in mountains, caves and cliffs, especially bird cliffs. Like humans, they live together socially. They fish, cultivate land and keep animals. They are also very good at handicrafts and hold feasts.

There is a very well known art group here in Iceland called Nordan Bál that has been doing all kind of art and performances in Iceland. This group will do the construction of the Cave (home) of the Trolls and also make the furniture and other things that they need for their daily life. Everything will be oversized so it will fit the big creatures. The international volunteers will help the art group to build the home and will also do some environmental work in the area around the place. Please notice that we will work with heavy things so the work can be physically demanding.

Project language: English

More information and enrollment: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-iceland.htm

For volunteer opportunities in other countries please click here: www.cadip.org

t: 604-628-7400
