We are not on welfare or any other form of gov. assistance. My husbands teeth are really bad, crooked, yellow, cavities etc. He was raised with parents that didn't take him to the dentist or doctor for that matter and we have been slowly trying to fix his teeth for a few years now. We now have a child and I don't want our child to be grossed out or scared of her daddy. We can't get family pics taken because he won't smile, we don't have pics of us smiling together that much because of his teeth and we have been together for over 5 years! My husband would even accept dentures - he would be a "guinea pig" for the OSU dental school etc. We are willing to do anything at this point to fix his smile. I really want to become a certified positive-reinforcement dog trainer, and I'm looking to gain more valuable experience for the field. I live in the Mt. Vernon area, so the closer to home the better, but can travel farther if need be. I have rescued and rehomed several dogs over the last few years - mostly strays or ones who were destined for the pound. I have some experience with behavioral issues: separation anxiety, hyperactivity, fear-based anxiety/aggression, and a couple of abuse cases. <![CDATA[Sharing daily life with a teenager from another country and culture is a rich and rewarding experience, and it's a wonderful way to bring more understanding into the world. If you've ever thought about welcoming an exchange student into your home and family, now's the time to learn more. AFS, the leading international high school student exchange program, needs families in our community to host high school students for an academic year or six months. Students arrive in August. AFS students come from more than 40 countries and represent many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. All kinds of families can host--two-parent households with young children or teenagers, single-parent families, families with adopted children, foster parents, as well as couples and single people who do not have children or who have grown children. One of the most important characteristics of a host family is being eager and excited to share your life and activities while providing the same kind of care, support, and comfort as you would to your own child or family members. Local AFS Volunteers enroll students in high school and support students and their families to help both gain the most from their experience. No cats, please! :-) Our goal is to raise money so we can continue to save lives, and all proceeds will go directly to care for our current and future rescue dogs. <![CDATA[Hi, I am a doctoral student at OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY who is researching on issues of racial/ethnic residential intermixing, spatial inequality -- poverty, discrimination, etc. in the Columbus area besides many other places in the US. If you live in any of the following counties - FRANKLIN, UNION, MADISON, DELAWARE, FAIRFIELD, PICKAWAY & LICKING counties then you can participate. Details: I am examining how the racial/ethnic residential intermixing/segregation in various neighborhoods of mid-sized metropolitan statistical area like COLUMBUS have changed from 1990 to 2000, and what are the underlying reasons. I have conducted these analyses with available census data, and have identified few "tracts" that have shown high degrees of change (positive and negative). I am now interested in talking to people, as they are the entities who ultimately take decisions on their residential choices. As such, they do have to interact with existing forces of housing market, and probably these experiences and perceptions differ depending upon what race/ethnicity and/or socio-economic class they belong to. This is the focus of my qualitative interviews. <![CDATA[Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio (AHDRO) specializes in Collies & Shelties and works with other family-friendly dogs. Established in 2003, our organization's mission is to provide homeless Collies and other family-friendly dogs a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition, and love until an approved home is found. To date, we have rescued over 300 dogs. All AHDRO dogs are placed in the homes of approved volunteers until they are adopted. Our organization is run solely by volunteers who share a love for dogs and a passion for our mission. We are seeking loving fosters to provide temporary homes for our rescued dogs that are waiting for their forever home. Fosters are asked to provide care, basic obedience training, house training (if applicable), and socialization (if applicable). *All dogs are up-to-date on shots *All medical costs are absorbed by Almost Home THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE NEED FOR FOSTERS.
