<![CDATA[If you are missing a cat in Balch Springs this will interest you. There is a couple that hate cats. They put food in cages to lure the cats in. I don't believe cats would go into their yard if they weren't lured with food because they have 11 dogs in their backyard. I called animal control and they said that every cat they have picked up has been alive. The owners probably don't have a clue what has happened to them. They also said that this couple is allowed to have the dogs because they pay $25 for each one after the five that are allowed. They also said they are allowed to trap cats because they have a permit. Why are they allowed all these rights but the cats or the cats owners don't have any. I looked up the ordinance and it says cats are supposed to be on leashes. Maybe that needs to be changed! We live near store, restaurants, and a creek. There have been problems with rats and mice. Don't cats keep the amount of rodents down? The problem would get worse if there weren't any cats. A few years ago a group of kids from our street were walking by this house and saw grocery bags tied up by the curb. They were curious of what was inside because these people are known as the cat killers. They opened one of the bags and a dead cat was inside. There was also a few cats that "jumped" into the backyard with the dogs and were mutilated. One of the cats was pregnant and what was left of the cat and its tail were put on the curb for the cats owner to see. This same owner saw her cat in one of the cages. She went to rescue it and saw a bowl of anti-freeze in the cage. Doesn't that kill animals? I think that it is odd that dead birds that look perfectly fine are dead near their bushes and in their neighbors yards. I wonder what is killing them? I think about all the people that have lost pets. The elderly person who can't find their companion, the sad child that can't find their kitty, or the missing cat that is someones best friend. This is cruel! I wonder what would happen to a possum, rabbit, or squirrel that got in the cages. There are many neighbors that want this luring into the cages to stop! If you know of any organization that would like to help please let me know. This is cruel and shouldn't happen to any animal. A couple days ago I saw a cat in a cage and the owner was standing there smiling and chatting with animal control. The cat was laying down and not moving. This broke my heart and I want this to stop.]]>

He is very much missed and loved. We go out every night and day looking for him even at 2AM. He is 2 and a half years old not neutered. As you can see by his picture he has a fluffy 'mane'. <![CDATA[This lab mix was picked up on Monday, May 12, by Garland Animal Control, after they received a call about a dog being hit by a car. The shelter believes that she was run over by a vehicle. It appeared that she had a broken pelvis. She had alot of bruising all over, as you can see in the picture (she was alive at the time this picture was taken). She may also have had a punctured lung, but they are unsure due to not having xray equipment on sight. The reason they suspect this is because she had very labored breathing. But, it may have just be due to the pain she was experiencing from her injuries. Yesterday, Tuesday afternoon, I personally went up to the shelter to see this girl, after seeing her picture (below) on Petharbor.com. They had her in the back where it was quiet. They allowed me to see her. At that time, she was laying with her head up, was very alert, and calm. She allowed me to pet her. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say that this poor girl passed away during the night last night as a result of her internal injuries. So, if this was your dog, I'm very sorry... She was a sweetheart! Despite the pain she was in, she was very calm, and a real trooper thru it all.... (I named her Sophie) Several rescue groups were stepping up to take her to get her treated, but, unfortunately, help came too late. I named her Sophie, so she would NOT just be another # (statistic). May you REST IN PEACE...Sophie]]>
