The hot afternoon at 3:30 has started with a welcoming cold ice cream, where audiences were very patiently waiting outside the theatre to watch the great show. The show started a little late than the scheduled time at 4:15pm, but went on at a great pace. Aditi Paul, the Indian Idol finalist, has opened the show with a devotional note on Lord Ganesha, and welcomed Udit onto the stage. Nicely dressed Udit came onto the stage with all-time favorite hit song ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ from Quyamat Se Quyamat Tak. It saddens me that we have a corporate take over of our political process (the insurance companies). The decisions should be between a doctor and the patient, not dictated by the insurance companies. Meanwhile, SB 217 got a lot of votes to do insurance mandates. Fast Company magazine documented recently how the insurance companies will use the money to buy up overseas hospitals and start sending Americans, yes the insured, not just the uninsured, overseas for knee replacements and anything other than primary or emergency care. This will make the US like Africa: leave the country for decent medical care. US News had this on their front cover this month also. (The article said 1 in 4 Americans making $60,000 a year did NOT have coverage in 2006). The insurance companies will continue to dominate the decisions when they have a vested interest in denying care (more profit for them). It saddens me that many Democrats want to hijack our tax dollars to give them to for-profit insurance companies (don't we work hard enough. Why subsidize a for-profit company?). Meanwhile, Republicans want to do nothing. McCain said health is like a college education: if you can afford it great, if not, then well, I guess you are out of luck. Germany has had universal coverage since the 1880s. How could it be that they are 130 years ahead of us? The mandates are supposed to reduce cost shifting. That is what occurs when the uninsured go belly up and can't pay their bills. Then the bills are shifted to the insured in their policy price. But the mandates are so bare bones that cost shifting will not end due to them. Why can't the people take back our political system? "Government for the people and by the people" sounds better than "Government for the corporation, by the corporation". It has a better ring to it. Don't you think? ]]>

It turns out that their staff is very aware of how abusive they can be when it comes to civil rights violations without the state or US Department of Education intervening. Discussions about religion, specifically Christianity, are frowned upon. Local reps for CSU-chapter of Campus Crusade are all but silent. My freedom of speech was blatantly violated in a class and I was withdrawn by staff in March. They denied me a tuition refund. My speech was of a Christian nature, apparently offensive to the anti-God classmates, teacher and deans. I am currently suing the school and I filed a complaint with the state, which, in the event of finding their actions unlawful, would have done very little about it. Following this was the Sej Aarthi, and a speech from Mr. Mahesh Jha, president of the Hindu Temple and Cultural Center of Rockies, presenting the status of the new Hindu temple initiative. Mr. Srinivas Nallapati recognized all the volunteers for their sustained, arduous efforts that made this extraordinary event possible. A total of almost one hundred volunteers provided their incredible support by participating in various activities of the event like decorating the auditorium, preparing the prasadam, Pooja arrangements, boxing and serving the prasadam, performing in cultural programs, front desk operations, video/photography etc. The program concluded by personal blessings to all Abhishekam participants and their families, followed by Prasadam distribution. A presentation of 50 slides with ‘Baba Sukthulu’ was presented on a projected screen during prasadam distribution, which attracted the audience. Each of the Abhishekam sponsors received a sacred kit comprising of a blissful plaque of shri Shirdi Saibaba, Sai Bhavana book, Shawl, Silver plate and prasadam. With Baba’s blessings, the Sri Rama Navami Maha Abhishekam in Colorado was a grand success, and all the devotees were spiritually gratified and went home with an ecstatic blessed feeling.
