<![CDATA[I am a volunteer of Paws for Life Rescue and Adoption and almost half a year ago an adopter of ours lost the cat they adopted from us. She was still slightly a scardy cat, so when she got out she ran for it and was not seen again. She is a beautiful calico cat who we have been trying to re-trap and get back. We only discovered a month ago that she was missing, and I decided to set a trap for her. She would be very hard to trap because I had trapped her as a kitten (how we got her in the first place). The trap I left set in the shed of a for sale house in Waterford on Percy King Road between Waringham Drive and Walking Lane, on the right hand side of Percy King if you are coming from Williams Lake Road. I talked to the people who lost the cat and they where suppose to be checking the trap, but they told me the trap was gone about 4-5 days ago, they though I removed it, although I did not. It is a standard live trap, and on it it says "Property of Star the Ripper" along with my phone number. It also says "Paws for Life." If you picked up this trap or have heard anything about someone finding a trap please email me and let me know. Our rescue doesn't have any other available traps right now and we need this one back. <![CDATA[Yesterday at 4:30 a.m I lost my two-year-old Scottish Terrier/Mini Pin. She was found around 6:00 p.m. the same day. I first posted on Craigslist that I lost her and then I posted that I found her. Someone replied to my last post and requested that I explain how I found her. The first thing I did was make a flier. Making the proper flier was the key thing here. I had to make sure that I could find good enough pictures of her--a front shot and a side shot to show all of her details. I also made sure to print in color and make sure that they didn't blur when printed. (I've seen so many fliers posted without pictures or with blurry black-and-white pictures that aren't very helpful). I also made sure to write out specific details about Roxie underneath. I wrote what identifying characteristics she had, such as her long legs, her wiry/curly fur, and the fact that three of her legs are tan and only the front right one was white. Again, I saw that other fliers didn't have much info and I feel that there is never enough information when trying to find your baby. Keeping that in mind, I gave six different numbers to call if Roxie was found--that way we knew that someone would get the message, my grandparents, my mom, my dad, my cousin, my cell phone and my home phone numbers. It doesn't much matter how many numbers you put on the flier, as long as you're confident that someone will pick up. Moving on, I then copied that flier and posted it on Craigslist before I went and printed out twenty fliers. Then I called every dog pound in my area to find out if any dogs had been brought in that day and if so, I explained how she looked. I was lucky that Roxie is such a unique looking dog and they were able to tell me quickly. The next thing we did was go to the police station--I wasn't going to, but my cousin said that people did in fact take lost dogs there sometimes and there is a kennel in the back for it. I left a flier on their wall and an officer logged the details of Roxie into the computer. This morning I got a call asking for a bit more information on her, but thankfully I was able to tell the officer that I have her back. I didn't simply post the fliers though. I posted some, but my cousin and I drove around and politely asked random people on the streets who we saw walking--we also went into the nearby trailer park and the apartment complexes--and gave the fliers to people who would take them. Many were very helpful and promised to try and find her. It was this way she was found though, one of the women I stopped said that she saw Roxie around noon on Republic. We finally had a lead! My boyfriend finally got out of work and he went around in his car too. We all carefully trailed each street around Republic and then he found her peacefully laying in the sun in someone's front yard. She was smelly and really dirty, but we were happy to have her home--I went and told certain people that I could find that they could stop looking, she was home now. I was so stressed out, but the point of this is that you can't simply post fliers and ads on Craigslist. Go out. Call shelters, go to the local police station, and ask random people who are out walking. I didn't want to at first, but I wanted Roxie back and the people I stopped didn't seem to mind at all. And if I hadn't been out asking those people, I wouldn't have spoken to the woman who was able to point us in the right direction. Good luck to those of you who lost your pet. <![CDATA[On 3/10/2010 in the morning(Wednesday), due to security issues at the checkpoint my husband was forced to remove his wedding band and put it in a bin when going through the metal detectors, because they couldn't figure out why he was still triggering the alarm after taking everything from his pockets. He did as he was told and somehow his ring got lost in the shuffle. This ring was a special ring, not only because it was being used as his wedding band, but also because it had previously belonged to my deceased grandfather, and it has real sentimental value to our family. This was not a very expensive ring...very simple in fact, and not worth much money at all. It is just a simple smooth yellow gold band with a slight etching on the outer ridges. I believe it is about a size 9 and 1/2. If by some stroke of luck anyone sees this and has found the ring, PLEASE PLEASE let us know. We would really appreciate having it returned to us. <![CDATA[The diaper bag was hand made for my son. It is dark green and has a tool box decoration on it with the last name Murphy. His winter coat was inside and it is green and gray. There should be a hat also, green gray black white and orange. I am not sure what else was in it diapers and what not...I am not so concerned about the rest. I don't have the slightest idea where I dropped them but we pretty much made a complete square around what was once Tiger Stadium. If you have them or if you saw them please contact me. <![CDATA[If you are missing a dog please check the Taylor Pound; Friday afternoon they had a lot of dogs. There was a small white and grey scruffy looking male dog extremely freindly, two rotts one looked younger then the other, several pitts (two were red look like identical twins) one brindle very young and a few other various colors all were very friendly. There is a Husky one blue eye one brown very verbal sounded like he/she was crying I want my Mama , a Shepard (mix) with a black bandana on this one is the most scared there he really needs to go home, a black long coat maybe chow mix very laid back and quiet, a few mutts medium sized brown all very scared, a few adult cats (one grey, one black n white) and the one that tugged at my heart strings most was a beagle that was maybe 15 lbs appeared to be older with grey eyebrows; very sweet ! Most of the dogs were marked as strays only a few were owner surrenders so please check this shelter if any of these may be your dog! If you are with rescue; most of these are avaliable to SAVE now !
