The Youth House School is a small education center for disadvantaged street children and children coming from a poor fishing village, located in the outskirts of Hanoi. The international volunteers will help run the school and will be responsible for keeping the school clean, cooking free lunch for the children, and teaching them basic things about their countries, health, etc. The volunteers will also organize some leisure activities for youth after school. This is a time for cultural exchange and embracing new relationships. The international volunteers will work together with a team of local volunteers, led by a group leader. The volunteers will teach around 15 children every day. Remember, the children are not used to rules and structure in their households, so volunteers must try to implement this by setting an example. The Youth House is also a place where young local people and international volunteers come to explore the cultural diversity, by teaching the children together or organizing leisure activities, such as taking the children to the swimming pool.
These activities are combined with projects to help disadvantaged people at the Fisher Village, who are very poor and live in slum-boats on the Red river. This is done by giving them food, medicines, water filters (for clean drinking water), toothpaste, second-hand warm clothes and free showers in winter, etc.
The Red River is the biggest river in Vietnam. The delta is located in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The city continues to expand with many people coming from the countryside into the urban area. This however, is an expensive endeavor with the government imposing a tax on people coming from the rural area to prevent a massive influx of people. Some people decide however to come despite this financial situation and thus must live in house boats at the river to escape from having to pay. Since they do not technically live in Hanoi they must pay for school which is usually free until the age of 12. The entire family must work hours that most people would consider inhumane. The children wander the streets begging and collecting rubbish. An entire family barely makes $2 a day.

For more info and enrollment, please go to: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-vietnam.htm

To learn more about the international volunteer workcamps go to: www.cadip.org/workcamp.htm or give us a call:
 617-502-0400

 604-628-7400

In Reykjavik you can experience easily the pure energy at the heart of Iceland’s capital city - whether from the boiling thermal energy underground, the natural green energy within the city and around it. Think of the qualities of a great city - fun, space, clean air, nature, culture - and Reykjavik has them in spades. It has the features of a modern, forward-looking society which are complemented by a close connection to beautiful nature. The population of the Reykjavik Capital Area is about 200,000. Reykjavik is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean on almost all sides.
In this time of the year when conditions are favorable you can see the Northern lights (Aurora borealis) glowing curtain of greenish yellow lights, dancing in the distance to a spectacular, multi-colored fusion stretching across the sky.
The world’s northernmost capital is framed by the majestic Mt. Esja, which keeps a watchful eye on the city, and the blue waters of Faxafloi Bay. On a sunny day, the mystical Snaefellsjokull glacier appears crystal-like on the western horizon, while mountainous moonscapes spread to the southeast.
The international volunteers will visit kindergartens in Reykjavik and introduce different cultures to the kids. One of the tasks of this workcamp is to prepare games, songs and materials for those visits and we kindly ask the participants to bring materials that we can use for the preparation. We will also participate in different types of activites in the centre of Reykjavik; this time of the year the city is usually full of life.

Metro Life International will be starting their very first Metro Detroit Masters Commission on September 12. It is a 9-12 month program that offers ministry opportunities, mostly inner-city missions. It is a program that will fashion and form the students attending into the person God has called them to be. It is a full-time ministry that takes Jesus into the inner-city of Detroit. This program is challenging. Some of the things that will be going on during this time are park outreaches, helping to mentor inner city youth, community dinners, Saturday children’s programs, inner-city street ministry/evangelism, feeding the poor, dance ministries, drama ministries and also international missions. There will also be daily prayer time and spiritual classes; there is also an opportunity to have accredited bible college correspondence classes.

The exciting part is that you will be able to share in this ministry opportunity in several ways. First, you can help by praying for Masters Commission and the students who will be attending. We have a total of 6 students attending. Pray that God will prepare us as we minister to His people, pray for those who we will come into contact with, that their hearts would be ready to receive the gospel. Also pray that our financial needs will be met. At this time, each student needs to raise $5,500 to attend the program. I know that God is able and willing to provide! Your help will be greatly appreciated! Also we are looking for people who are able to donate necessities, such as soap, shampoo, feminine products for the ladies, clothes and other items.

If you feel that you are able to assist in anyway, whether through donating items, we would be more than grateful with your contribution. If you would like to donate money directly to Metro Detroit Masters Commission tuition, you can do that also. Whether you feel led to contribute financially, through donations or through prayer, all of your support is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! Please know that you are an amazing conqueror through God!!

| Direct an Orphanage in Thailand

Mission Statement:

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) focuses on educating and feeding children who come from the most marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds. IHF has set up orphanages in Kenya, Indonesia and Thailand. We seek to provide a way for children to get an education that they desperately desire and are not able to receive. By educating and teaching these children that they are significant and competent, we also teach them that everyone has a voice that matters. IHF promotes self-sufficiency in the communities we work in, primarily focusing on the education, nutrition, and care of children. IHF encourages understanding and caring between people of all nations and religions in order to better prepare the leaders of future generations. We believe that by promoting communication and understanding between students from the poorest of the poor and students all around the world, we will all be better educated by this exchange. We desire for every student to have communication with students abroad who are different both culturally and socioeconomically, in order for all students to be educated about the world they live in.

The International Humanity Foundation is looking for directors to manage our orphanage in Chiang Rai, Thailand, and be friends and teachers to our children. By bringing together disadvantaged children of Thailand and volunteers from across the world, there is a learning opportunity for both. As both sides discover more about each other, their lives and their cultures and go on to teach their own friends what they learned in this exchange, we hope to create a world of greater understanding and compassion.

Our Thailand centre works especially with the hill tribes, the indigenous people who live in the tumultuous borderlands between Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos and as far as China and Vietnam. The hill tribes in northern Thailand face many challenges, and it is part of our mission to arm our children with the skills, attitudes and knowledge that they will need to have equal opportunities in their future like other Thai citizens. The children at our centre are from the Lahu and Akha tribes.

Work

IHF needs people with all skills. No matter your experience, whether a student or retired professional, IHF needs you. At the centre, volunteers divide their time between playing with and teaching the children and working on international tasks. The centre host English, computer and math classes, and the children often seek tutoring for their homework, all tasks which volunteers take part in.

All directors lead on one or more of our international task teams such as university relations, photography and child watch. To qualify to work at a centre, volunteers must complete twenty hours of work on one of the teams, and they continue to participate on the team once at the centre. In the rare case where you lack the ability to complete these hours but possess certain trade skills in agriculture, construction or others needed at one of our centres, you may be exempt from these pre-trip hours. If this is the case, be sure to immediately get in contact with the centre director to discuss your situation and possible alternative tasks.

It is important to note that IHF strictly requires its directors to work eight hours a day (four hours at the center and four hours online), six days a week. If this work is not completed, you will be dismissed from your position. As an entirely volunteer-run organization, IHF depends upon its members to contribute to the day-to-day operations, both locally and internationally. Without these daily hours, IHF would cease to function, so directors must be deliberate in their use of time. This is not a vacation. Directors are expected to work hard.

Cost: Except for the initial transport to the center, directors are not responsible for any costs.

Salary / Pay: Directors must commit to serve at least a year at the center. For the first three months, they are paid a living stipend of USD $120. At the end of this training period, the monthly stipend increases to USD $160. Directors are expected to work eight hours a day, six days a week, and have one long weekend every month. Additionally, directors are provided with a simple, private room, often furnished with only a bed, at the center and have the opportunity to eat all of their meals at the center with the children. Directors are responsible for paying for any special treats or outside meals they might wish to buy.

Admittedly, this is little pay for demanding work, but IHF is only looking for those who genuinely want to help children and who seek no financial benefit for themselves. This low stipend also assures that the greatest amount of money goes toward the children, the most important part of IHF.

Volunteer Type: Building schools, community development, childcare/children, culture, curriculum planning, disability issues, economic development education, English teaching, health, health care, health education, homelessness, hospital, housing, human rights, literacy, marketing, medicine, nutrition, orphans, popular education, primary education, street kids, teaching, women, water, writing, youth, youth development, academic reinforcement, AIDS/HIV, appropriate technology

Typical Volunteer: Our volunteers have a passion for immersion in foreign cultures, an openness to new experiences and a flexible approach to work. At our centres they work with local staff and directly with the local population in conditions very different from the Western world. Special projects constantly arise and include moving food during famine feeds to monitoring children during breaks. Our center directors have a lot of say in what they do as long as it is approved by the president and follows the mission of IHF.

So, also, print less, keep crayons longer or donate to daycares, schools don’t toss, Stop chewing GUM, go for organic dish soap and DO, recycle tires, use bleach over ammonia…..type products made from crude oil in any search engine..

Copy paste, and forward links expire. And repeat repeat repeat. We forget. Our address book changes, we add new and driving habits change.

→ Remember consume all you have, gas does gum up. Keep your car in decent working order, oil change, tires, fluids, etc etc. Change air filter and make a point to change battery 3-4 years avoids downtime and tow fee. Put a reminder on your cell. Don’t buy fuel if you DON’T need it, just because it dropped a cent or two. If it’s dropping, more than likely in 2/3 more days it will be cheaper.
→ Choose alternate transportation with less or no fuel – especially for short trips. Even make it your goal say IF it’s 4 blocks, you’ll always avoid driving it. And make it a goal to do this once a week for normal driving use. Report pumps that are incorrect to department of weights and measures. Best way to test a pump, run one gallon, did it read the posted price? Limit teen drivers cruising. If they go every Friday, make it every other Friday. Don’t mow your lawn if you have grazing animals, let them eat the grass down, and if they go thru your lawn, neighbors?? Keep prospective and look at prices across the country especially if your planning road trips.
→ What happens before I pump? What happens after I pump? Remember a hose is just like a straw IT ACHIEVES it’s own level, how can this work for me? Should I fill up or get few gallons at a time? LMAO everytime I get gas.
→ Keep traffic moving....if you see an accident, construction, bus; MERGE left. Please pull forward at pumps avoids others having driving around, and not just at pumps-anywhere. They even post this on the pumps. Drive the lights to avoid brake slow down stopped traffic. You know that bus is going to stop & if you are stuck behind it, so are you. And so will the person behind you. And if your at a light/intersection; and the light changes, so will traffic in the both ways you'll be blocking. Do you realize when you stop to drop off you MAKE all cars behind you stop also? Park. Allow other drivers out in traffic, keeps them going & not just sitting there idling. Look before you start the car anywhere, if your in a parking lot & cars & people are behind you, c’mon you know you’re not going it clears, why idle?
→ Combine all trips is good, combine all trips with neighbors, friends, relatives is better, and look for stores like Home Depot and Wally World that ad match. One stop shopping. And this is the only internet shipping I’d agree with, the site to store method. Why? That truck is already coming from the distribution point. When going out for lunch, ask coworkers if they want anything from where your going-eliminates multiple trips.
→ Avoid all drive thru’s of any kind…fast food, bank, ATM, pharmacy, even !funeral homes! , etc…park and walk it..consider it exercise, it gets you out of the 4/5/6 deep car idling line. Using the ATM takes about 3-5 minutes- why is your car on? Use the walkup ATM. Waiting on a train? Turn the engine off. Your stuck 5/10 minutes anyway.
→Buy local .. anything & everything you can meat market, produce, bakery, save fuel bringing things to you. The only people who should not are shut ins. We utilize that ship to me, that it is not a convenience anymore. IT’S killing us at the gas pump. And take a second to read labels, buy American. Best example: White Rain Shampoo/Condition made in USA….VO5 made in Canada …you paid for freight to truck it here, & sent your purchase dollar out of country
→Is there any value to a toll road? What is it? To go 80-90MPH? –do you need to get there faster? Will 15 minutes make that much difference? ONLY, when you crash on toll road, and then ..to get an EMS to you.
→Keep a copy in your car. And watch when you are doing and others, highlight or check off, look at after three days. Then go OMG! Great kids project. Excellent busy project for the kids in the car to look for.
→Go right on red all the time, don’t hold up traffic. It is also legal to go LEFT on RED, from a one way street to another one way street with traffic that you merge LEFT into. Mostly in downtown areas.
→Use CFC bulbs, generally cheaper at dollar stores.Home, unplug everything, but fridge stove, water heater and plug in as go; use power strips and unplug those also
→Totally skip the plastic bags at the stores, they are made from oil. Taking about 37 million barrels per year! Use cloth or canvas. If you have no choice reuse them all you can. Recycle.
→ Turn overnight parked Semis, cars, and trucks off at truckstop/rest areas.
Highway driving – find a semi going slightly faster than you and stay behind 100-200 yards or so—his tailwind sucks you along saving you gas, & he has radar for speed traps. Win win situation.
→ Rental Cars? Turn key off as they inspect for prior damage and show you features. This takes up to 10 minutes, why waste the gas? Why are’nt parking security guards on bikes, golf carts, ATV. They go just as fast thru a lot and places a car cannot and take less fuel? Not to mention cost of vehicle, insurance, plates, and driver. Why do armor trucks idle at pickups? Yet, the delivery companies don’t!!? When was the last time you saw a UPS truck running during a delivery? I never have. I think maybe they have figured out that the idling costs big time money. And there’s the theft issue. Me? I wish it was legal to relocate anyone’s car who does this, just to teach them a lesson. Rural mail delivery, why not park & walk those 20-40 boxes rather than idle inch by inch? Why do taxis sit idling when waiting on a fare? At hotels in tourist destinations? At airports? Why don’t the cab companies clamp down on this? It’s income out the door!
→ Did you see the new GM Chevy Volt? 232 MPG! Why aren’t they all being made that way? Why aren’t we demanding it? On all cars? Read up, and learn about CAFÉ standards… do you know cars only have to conform to standards from 1980’s yet our technology has exceeded? Why? Good reads A Declaration of Energy Independence by Jay Hakes;Energy Victory by Robert Zubrin. Use internet for cheapest fuel–don’t then go there get in line and idle wasting 1/8 tank to get ¾.
→….. Treat work vehicle the same, don’t take the approach, I’m not paying for the gas so who cares? Oh but you are. You pay with higher prices at pump, on your electric, AND that’s your next raise your wasting. When waiting on a pace car in construction zones or stopped in zones, turn your car off. They have those flaggers for a reason, why idle? Your not getting thru any faster even if you ram the car in front of you! And then your really not. Construction & OTR trucks that idle, don’t. I watched a dozer cut and load a side dump truck at site. Took over 30 minutes (I know that because that’s how long it took me to walk past) 30 minutes. It ran the whole time?!!!! WHY? And cut warm up times! If you do ½ hour do 15 minutes
→ Waiting AT the bus stop on kids? Turn the car off. If you do this 5 times (we know it’s 10) times a week for even 2 minutes a pop – you wasted gas for 20 minutes ONE WEEK. Reality is about an hour a week. Don’t take spouse/kids/friends anywhere to drop off like mall, library, grocery, store, etc then sit in the parking lot with car on. And don’t circle the lot, Park. altho email also, it’s faster & always there. I think places that service autos, ie insurance co, dealers, parts warehouse, etc. should keep a copy on their counters. Turn car off when waiting on a funeral procession, rural mail delivery that gets out of car, loading/unloading.
→Recognize when you are wasting gas, every person's needs are different.
→Forward this to your email contacts, make a bigger impact, use copy and paste.
→Concerts/plays/venues/fairs….take a bus to just to save, but if you drive – don’t sit in lot before & after with car on listening to radio AND after take your time 1) leaving the site just to get to your car and 2) in lot wait for traffic to clear. Or partying in your car with it on – at least turn it off.
→ Are you aware there are cars that are now being made when there is a 3 second stop, the engine is designed to shut down, to consume fuel. Why not all cars? And if they’re making cars this way – that are smarter than us; hmmm… what are we doing wrong? What does that tell you? Why haven’t you sent the auto mfr an email telling them? After all they just got bailed out with YOUR money.

Now you know what to do … forward….and use copy paste, links expire. Make a bigger impact. Or get ready for gas at the $4 mark.

Look at drive thru’s - in one major city (the one million mark) and you’ll be shocked! Or disgusted! One city has 172 fast food joints between all the top brands.....not including the little guys, local/regional brands OR convenience stores OR pharmacys, OR the tobacco barns (and is it cheaper if you are 19 cars deep ?? Saw that today)- just fast food giants, the Rb's,Taco Hell, MC, BK, lattes; those … do the numbers quickly, watch your fast foods drive thru's ... HOW many cars are in the lineup, 3-4-5-6 or more? Use the three …3 (cause it's a smaller) so 3 X 172 = 516 cars idling in ONE city, now we know there are at least 15 @ million + (seattle, sanfran, portland, denver, phoenix, stlouis, miami, cleveland, detroit,NYC,LA,Atlanta, houston, sananton, indy,) There are LARGE cities in 50 states, capitals?!? And at least 15 as large as this list; but we'll stick with small math, 15, so now it is 3 X 172 = 516 X 15 = 7740 cars (what was your tax return this year, was it $7740?) how long do those cars idle in drive thru? I have timed it - it averages 2-7 minutes, NOT counting if your order’s not ready and your asked to pull around and wait some more. But again, let's go with smaller number ..it is NOT realistic, but it’s comprehendable....so, now at a two minute wait time,
3 X 172 = 516 X 15 = 7740 cars X 2 = 15,480
now divide by 60 minutes in an hour = 258
In one city.....we idle 258 hours a day! Now, how much is your weekly paycheck? Electric bill? Mortgage? Does that give you a perspective?
Take a look @ the big picture.... take that 258 X those 50 capitals (between the caps and smaller cities in each it averages out) you get 12,900 hours. OMG!
Just for fast food. Not even all of list. THIS IS WHY WE PAY SO MUCH FOR GAS.
12,900 is a good number to “see”, how much did your car cost? How much does a NEW car cost? Do this math times… by trains, idling at bus stops, dropoff/pickups, rental cars, taxis, OTR, citations, cell phones, etc .. That’s 8. 8 X 12,900 = 103,200. That’s a house. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could possibly think they don’t make a difference in reality. There are none of the pizza delivery companies in that 172 either, that’s strictly fast food. There’s another 35 minimum.
Keep the price from rising. You can always do more, and here are many ways how !
I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the process or my experience during my donation.
Please this is not an attempt to purchase a kidney so please no responses from those looking to sell a kidney.

The feeling of pride I experienced after my donation was truly indescribable .

Money should not be a burden on the donor so Hotel, Food, Travel, and Lost Wages can all be covered during the donation process.

The economy needs improving for companies and individuals. If you are looking to share your opinions on articles for various companies - even temporarily - this may be a good option. People are needed to read and rate articles approximately 5-10 minutes daily, or when they can. They would rate them on a scale of 1-5, using stars. Many will probably feel more knowledgable, and will even earn a bit. But, this is best for people who enjoy staying informed and reading. Not going to make big bucks. It could be used for extra spending money, like: extra movies, fuel, dollar store, etc.

A variety of people who are honest are needed, as long as they can read and comprehend well. Expect to get approximately $20/month extra for reading close to 5-10 minutes a day. And, you get some articles to read daily when you log onto the site. You can choose up to 50 topics that truly interest you and that will make it easier to read them through them. Readbud has favorable online reviews.

It is home to the Victoria Falls, one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders. It is also a very historic city with many relics from a bygone era. It has a railway museum and the Livingstone museum is worth visiting. The Mosi-O-Tunya National Park is home to the endangered Black Rhino.
The Victoria Falls are among the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. The Zambezi River, which is more than 2 km wide at this point, plunges noisily down a series of basalt gorges and raises an iridescent mist that can be seen more than 20 km away. Below the falls the river enters a narrow series of basaltic gorges. The fragile ecosystem of the riverine rainforest within the waterfalls splash zone is also of particular interest.
The aim of the volunteer project is the preservation of Victoria Falls as one of the most important natural heritage sites. The volunteers will be involved in the maintenance of foot paths and trails at the Victoria Falls area. The renovated foot paths will guarantee improved accessibility to the site for both the tourists and the members of the local communities. The volunteers will also help renovate a community school in Chief Mukuni’s village.
Location: Livingstone is 600 km away from Lusaka and is serviced by road and air.

International volunteers will participate in a program to protect the marine turtles, working in tight collaboration with the local population of the beautiful virgin Colola beach on the Pacific coast of Mexico. The project aims to ensure the reproduction of the turtles and preservation of the species for the future. There are two species of turtles arriving to this area: the Negra (Black Turtle) and the Golfina (Olive Riddle Turtle). The people involved in the project will help by collecting eggs, burying them in the turtle camp, taking care of the baby turtles and collecting some statistical data.
The goal of this project is to protect the turtles and to help run preservation activities focused on protecting endangered species, at the same time promoting international cooperation and international solidarity.
The main work consists in collecting turtle eggs, burying them again in a secure place, and getting the baby turtles back safely to the sea. This must be carried out at night since the turtles do not go out of the ocean during the day (because of their natural predators, it is safer for the turtles get out of the ocean in the dark). In collaboration with local indigenous people from Colola, the volunteers will seek for the turtles and take care of the eggs and the baby turtles. Locals are very friendly and working with them is very pleasant as they explain to the group what to do.
We need very motivated volunteers who really want to get involved in the work for protection of the turtles and are willing to interact with the local people and their culture.
There are also some extra activities to be done with the local people in order to help improve the town such as setting names to the streets or helping to arrange a multi-purpose playground for the children, and maybe some cleaning tasks, but this depends on the volunteers' initiative. The local people are very open to participate in other activities and the volunteers can also propose their own initiatives, so your ideas are welcome.
The official language of the project is English. Some Spanish would be appreciated.
Location: Colola is a small town located on the Michoacan State coast, between Maruata and La Placita towns. It's a remote place that offers an excellent opportunity to be close to nature, on a virgin beach, with no tourism around. The closest city is Tecoman at 200 kilometers, but other villages such as La Placita that are closer (45 minutes by bus) can offer Internet connection.

For more details, please visit: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-mexico.htm or give us a call: 617-502-0400 (US); 604-628-7400 (Canada)

This project is part of CADIP's International Volunteer Program: www.cadip.org/workcamps.htm

General rules and conditions for participation on our workcamp projects: www.cadip.org

Semarang is located on the northern coast of Java. The northern part of the city is built on the coastal plain while the southern parts, known as Candi Lama and Candi Baru, are on higher ground. Two rivers run through the city, one on the east side and one through the west side, essentially dividing the city into thirds. The population of Semarang is predominantly Javanese, though with smaller numbers of people from many regions in Indonesia. The city is known for its large ethnically Chinese population. The main languages spoken are Indonesian and Javanese. Sometimes Hokkien Chinese or Mandarin is spoken among the Chinese minority. Semarang is home to several notable universities and high schools. A notable state-owned university at Semarang is Diponegoro University and Semarang State University. Other notable universities are Soegijapranata Catholic University and Sultan Agung Islamic University. As a result of its large ethnically Chinese population, the city boasts several Chinese temples. These include Sam Po Kong (Gedung Batu), built in honour of the Chinese Great Admiral Zheng He who visited the area in 1405, and Tay Kak Sie Temple. Blenduk Church, a 1753 Protestant church built by the Dutch, is located in the old town (called "Oudstad"). Tugu Muda (Youth Monument), a monument to heroes of Indonesia's independence struggle, is located in a large roundabout surrounded by famous buildings such as Gedung Lawang Sewu and the Semarang Cathedral. Jalan Pemuda, one of the roads leading into the roundabout, is a major shopping street. The Cathedral of the Holy Rosary is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Semarang.
This program covers intensive language classes and cultural activities to enhance participant’s learning motivation and skills. It is designed to improve the participant’s inter-cultural competencies through the language class, the traditional dancing class, Indonesia culture exploration, and various interesting programs. The participants will communicate with locals in Indonesian daily and be immersed in an Indonesian-speaking community. Besides, the participants will also do a school/university visit to exchange activities and culture with the students.

Teaching English and promoting hygiene practices in Pandan Elementary School

October 9 - October 23, 2010

The Pandan village is located in Rembang regency. The word “Pandan” itself means such kind of leaf which smells good and it can also be used to make a plaited mat. The village provides natural scenery and is far away from pollution. Pandan village is home to around 2000 people, who make their living by farming and trading corn and rice. Cows and poultry are also raised to provide for the people’s sustenance.
This is a pilot project in an elementary school in Rembang regency intended to give some contributions to the educational program in the school and influence positively the development of the village, while promoting international solidarity and intercultural encounters. In this context, a team of international volunteers is invited to take part both in renovating the area and in educational activities.
The project will be in Pandan Elementary School with around 100 students and 10 local teachers. The volunteers will help in the renovation and painting of the local school. The educational activities with the children will involve mainly teaching English and basic hygiene practices like cleaning hands, cutting nails, etc.
Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the Javanese particularities.
Leisure time: During the free time, the volunteers may visit Goa Akbar (Big Cave) and Goa Maharani (Maharani Cave). Near these caves, there is a tourist site called Wisata Bahari Lamongan (the site lies along the beach and is completed with some interesting games, performances and a swimming pool).

I tried desperately to find a low budget place that is suitable on Craigslist. But everyone is so demanding. I have $100. I have a few weeks of unemployment left. No more extensions.. I'm about to start working at Labor Ready for daily temporary work that pays cash at the end of a shift.

I have a full tuition scholarship because I grew up on Medicaid until 2013. Ontop of that, I'm eligible for $5,500 in cash assistance plus a Federal Work Study program that pays $2,000 - 5,000 for part-time work. I'm too late for the Fall Semester.

I am willing to pay my own way. I just need a flexible landlord. A furnished room, preferably. I'm not declaring I'll be late paying rent. I'm just saying that I don't exactly have a real job. I have to do this daily temp thing. I know someone that works there already as a 2nd job. I will also be searching for a main job or a part-time job. I can also deal poker at a charity poker room.

Today, a lady had me show up at some random house in Detroit saying I'd be able to live in the basement, have free rent to clean the house and maintain the lawn/snow, and we'd go to a donation center and get me furniture... When I got to the house, a girl said I had the wrong house.. So I just got pranked with my gas tank on E in Detroit. Luckily, my last paycheck came in the mail today from a job I lost Tuesday due to having nowhere to sleep.

I'm fed. I get $200/month food stamps. I'm healthy. I have no pets or kids, like 1 girl friend, no family or friends to visit.. Just looking for a simple place, hopefully long-term, but even short-term... Idk what to do.. I know someone in Richmond said back in June I could stay with her, but that is so far out of the realm I'm used to and away from my girl friend (the only person that seems to care about me).

My name is Alex Bland and the reason I am writing this letter is to tell you a little about our organization. We are known as W.A.V.E which means Warriors Against Violence Everywhere, and our goal is to help others who cannot help themselves. One of our efforts has been to feed the Homeless. We are providing this service to the more challenged areas of Detroit such as, Martin Luther King Blvd and Cass Corridor which is just to name a few.
In the last couple of years this has been challenging yet Rewarding in many areas. One of our obstacles has been trying to fund this operation to provide enough food. Food donations are needed, however, monetary donations are also gladly appreciated.
