<![CDATA[The painting is titled “His Top Horse” #76 and was produced by Olaf Wieghorst in 1946. According to Roy Wieghorst, the late artist's son and one of our best sources of information the painting was produced in 1946 for a Texas rancher named Whitaker who had a ranch in the Dallas area. The frame was one of several made by Mr. Whitaker. The painting is 30 X 36, and to my knowledge their are no prints available. I am interested in eventually selling the painting, and was advised by Roy Wieghorst a painting of similar size, painted prior to this piece went for $168,000 at auction. The painting has been in my family for over 40 years. The painting originally belonged to former Judge, Oilman-Lawyer-Author, Paul Moss and then to my Father, and former Sheriff of Ector County A.M. "Slim" Gabrel. As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”, but in this case the story behind the picture is worth much more. There is alot more to this story that I will be glad to share at later time. I would like to sell this painting to someone who would not only cherish the piece, but the history behind it as well. The painting is on display at a local jewerly store in Odessa and can be viewed throughout the business day. Please note that I am not interested in selling the painting in an acution at this time.
