<![CDATA[21 year old female vocalist (DO NOT immediately assume that means pop), who has musicians on both sides of the family and has been singing all her life, wants back in the music scene. I've spent WAAAY too much time away from it. When most people say "I've been influenced by everything" or "I like all genres", they actually mean about three, maybe four. Not me. My major influences range from The Dresden Dolls and Ani DiFranco to Bela Fleck and Masha Qrella, from Mindless Self Indulgence and My Chemical Romance to MIA and The Bouncing Souls. Music is the only thing on the planet that makes any real sense to me. I cannot play any instruments, although that's not for lack of trying, but I can sing both in a classical sense and in edgier styles, which is what I prefer. I've had minor opera lessons, but I'm an alto so that's not saying much. I do have a wide range and am ready and willing to try anything JUST SO LONG AS IT IS NOT A COUNTRY BAND, so help me god. Now, to nip the questions I usually get emailed to me in the bud, here's a few things to be warned of before you reply: 1/ If you're going to ask me if I'm hot, then let me go ahead and tell you this: I'm not going to dignify that with a response. I am not in this to look good. I'm in this to make music. If you wanna take that as me just not bothering to buy in, fine. If you wanna take it as I'm ugly as sin and insecure about it, also, fine. I am looking for a venue that would be interested in hosting a session anywhere from once a week to once a month. I am a be-bop saxophone/woodwind player and know that there are a lot of great musicians down here, but with no place to hang. I am also aware of the "yearly" jam session which was during the Jazz festival, and between you and me, that was one of the most unorganized sessions I have ever seen. Dedication and patience towards the goal, is very important. Valid excuses are still excuses, and a large quantity of them makes you a poor fit for any band. We have gigs lined up with large festivals and clubs, so time is of the essence here. This is a serious gig, and would require a serous drummer. We are not interested in being another small fish in a big pond. No "Brown Eyed Girl", or "Sweet Home Alabama" here. The kind of stuff we do is kind of a Hendrix + Coltrane + Stevie Ray Vaughn + The Meters kind of thing.
