It has Oregon plates but they may have replaced them with other plates. On the trailer were four Polaris four wheelers, one Suzuki four wheeler, and one Honda dirtbike. <![CDATA[Looking For True Heros Willing To Make A Difference This is going out to everyone in the hopes we’ll find some people who have it in their hearts to help us out with something very important to us. As many of you know.... We’ve been agressively working to put together a Charity Event here in Columbus GA for a family I grew up with in my hometown of Rincon GA. We’re setting up a large concert benefit down town to raise money for this family, who’s 7 year old son (Jacob Harper) has for the past 4 years been suffering from a very rare form of uncontrollable Epilepsy. He had his first seizure at 3 years old, but due to the initial sporadic nature of the episodes and how unusual his symptoms were, he wasn’t officially diagnosed with Epilepsy until he was 4. He wasn’t diagnosed until one day in September of 2004 when he had several long lasting seizures that prompted an immediate need for hospitalization. Soon after he regained contiousness his parents were to find out the extent of their son’s problems. He had trouble recognizing family members he’d known all his life, and had to be retaught simple things like colors, shapes, and writing his name, all of which were things he’d never had problems with. Ever since that time the family has devoted themselves to freeing their son from the effects of this condition that gets steadily worse as each day goes by, and to try and give him some sort of normal life. Jacob was sent to numerous doctors who tried one medication after another.... all of which have had little to no effect in stopping his seizures. Each time taking hope away from his parents. After multiple failed attempts his parents Mark & Melissa Harper made the difficult decision to seek out specialized healthcare. A decision they felt was necessary to help their son. This decision has meant numerous trips each month to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. The only hospital that has a specialized Epilepsy Center more suited to deal with Jacob’s condition close enough to drive to. Each trip is a 4 hour drive (one way) from Rincon, and involves having to stay in a hotel for a couple of days so Jacob can be treated. The costs of all the trips to and from Atlanta, the frequent hospitalizations and other medical expenses has been not only staggering financially, but emotionally as well on this family. The extent of damage to Jacob’s brain done by the seizures has been such that it’s very apparent on MRI scans now.....which left Mark and Melissa with yet another difficult choice to make.......Keep things the way they have been with an uncertain outcome for Jacob, OR..... Do what any parent would do for their child if they were in this position, Take the surgical option given to them by the doctor’s at Scottish Rites Hospital and at least have a chance at fixing the problem. The hopes are that by surgically removing the effected portion of his brain, his seizures will subside enough to give his brain a chance to regenerate blood flow to other areas, which will greatly increase his outcome and allow him to be a happy child. This is something that no child should have to go thru. A child’s place in life is BEING A CHILD. Problems are something that adults are more suited to deal with and aren’t something a child should be faced with especially medical ones. Something that really stood out was a statement that Melissa Harper made regarding the situation........ "As parents, we only want one thing; For Jacob to have a normal life, so that he can fufill his dreams." "Our deepest hopes are that this surgery will provide him that opportunity" This surgery is extremely expensive with a price tag of over $1,000,000.00. Even with health insurance the Harper’s financial burden out of pocket expenses are going to be several hundred thousand dollars, which would be on top of the already staggering medical bills that have been incured during the last 4 years of Jacob’s treatments. We’re graciously asking for as much help as your heart will allow, so we can help this family. So here’s what we need from you. We’re asking for anyone who can help with this mission to do so, whether it be financially, by volunteering, or at the very least by just telling other people about this event which is to be held in downtown Columbus on Broadway in the open courtyard between The Vault and Picasso’s Pizza on May 31st.
