In this city alone, there are many children and districts who are waiting for instruments, papers, paints, etc., so that they can provide art or music class even once a week, for a handful of children, and this often occurs after school hours through the support of volunteers and donations. We hope you will agree that as artists within the community, we have a collective responsibility to help support, and pave the way for today's creative youth. If every person who reads this letter would give a single dollar, or the change laying around your house that you have forgotten about, rather than perhaps caring yet simply passing by . .. we could establish a free arts program today, or drop off the supplies necessary to support a mentoring program or after school arts class. About Randy Becker: Randy Becker is an accomplished critically acclaimed actor whose credits include, his starring role in the Tony Award-winning Broadway play, LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! (w/ Nathan Lane), and the critically acclaimed Fine Line Feature film of the same name (w/ Jason Alexander). While on stage, Mr. Becker won an Obie Award and a Drama League Award. In addition to countless plays in New York and around the country, Becker has starred in several films including Miramax’s LIE DOWN WITH DOGS, FISH DON’T BLINK (w/ Leah Thompson), AMERICAN ADOBO, SWALLOW (appearing on HBO in 2004) and played supporting roles in Paramount’s SABRINA (starring Harrison Ford) and THE DEVIANTS. He has played recurring and guest starring roles on several television shows including NYPD BLUE, KAREN SISCO, JACK & JILL (WB), BEGGARS & CHOOSERS (Showtime), and many others. In 2000, Mr. Becker expanded his talents and formed Louder Films, an independent production company established to provide artists with a springboard off of which to take daring leaps. He produced the critically acclaimed and sold-out run of Tennessee Williams’ TIGER TAIL, on 42nd Street in New York City (NYC Premiere). He then made the ambitious film, EZEKIEL, producing, co-directing and playing the title role. EZEKIEL screened at several international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, won the International Cinematographers Guild Award. Mr. Becker has since partnered with producer Marvin V. Acuna of Acuna Entertainment, Inc (“AE”). This partnership provides Mr. Becker the opportunity to work closely with writers and directors that are in high demand by the entertainment community. Additionally, Becker is in a unique position to access valuable market intelligence. Most recently AE produced the feature film THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD, starring John Malkovich, Emily Blunt and Tom Hanks. Written and directed by Sean McGinly, BUCK made its world premiere at the 2008 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL to acclaim and will make its national theatrical bow in October of 2008.
