<![CDATA[Harley was recently rescued from a puppy mill, where he lived in a small wire cage, without any human contact. It will take time for Harley to adjust to life in a home, but he is hopeful his forever home is out there. Harley is a 5 lb, 9 year old, male, who is a longhaired Chihuahua. He was recently released from a puppy mill and is still a scared little boy. He is UTD on all vaccinations, has been neutered, dewormed, and is tested HW negative. He does not have any teeth, due to poor nutrition during his life. Harley will need a quiet home, preferably one with experience dealing with mill dogs. For the first few days Harley was in my home, he would potty when I approached him to pick him up. He is now to the point to where he will come to me to be pet. It takes Harley a while to warm up to strangers, but with love and patience, he will be a beloved little dog. A home with at least another dog is a must. Norma Jean is doing better than expected with her socialization with humans. She is curious and spends time, running around with her tail up, investigating the house. I feel she will adjust smoothly in her transition from a wire cage to a home environment. Norma Jean is a very quiet girl who would spend all day curled up on someones lap. Her mom abandonded her and we bottle fed her and raised her. She needs to be in an only animal home. She will not do good with other pets!!! Prefers women over men...not sure why. <![CDATA[We have moved in with my inlaws for financial reasons and sadly, cannot take our cats. All 3 of them are 2 yrs old... lots of info on each!! Pics available of each cat. "Indy" is a large (20 lbs?) mostly white male with black markings. He is very soft and LOVES attention but is skittish around young children. He is lazy and sweet. Meows to be fed. Will usually hide when company comes around. Neutered and recently given Frontline. "Darwin" is Indy's brother. Almost all black with a little white markings. VERY beautiful. Big also at about 15-18 lbs. Loves everyone. Allows our kids to pick him up and sling him over their shoulders. (actually, loves to be held by everyone in this position) Meows for attention & to be fed. Sticks around to make new friends when company comes. Lets our 9 month old pull his fur and doesn't hurt her or try to get away. Neutered and recently given Frontline. TERRIFIC cat-would make a great addition to a family who wants a cat but dad hates cats-you'll love Darwin regardless! He's more like a dog!! Both the boys like to be outside BUT are definitely indoor cats. They will meow and scratch at the door to go out and to come back inside. They would do great with a cat door (have one for our basement to keep the dogs from getting into their litter boxes). However, they would NOT do well as outside only cats. Prefer to keep together but separating is ok. "PINKY" is a beautiful, solid white, female cat who is petite-she looks like a young kitten. She is NOT fixed and I am willing to pay for 1/2 the spay fee if taken to a reasonably priced vet. She has also recently been given Frontline. Pinky is extremely sweet and loving but will probably be skittish at first. She doesn't scratch or hiss/growl, but will run from you. Once you catch her, however, she is fine and will lay quietly in your lap and let you pet her/even curl up with you to sleep. She doesn't like to be held tho. Although she doesn't usually run from children, she doesn't stick around for them to grab her either. She would do great with a single female. For some reason she likes me more than my husband and kids. They are about a year old, but they are so very skinny, I have been feeding them but they don't gain weight. None of the shelters will take them and I cannot keep them. He is about 5-6 years old. He has some rear hip problems that may be eased with proper vet care. He is very happy, though. He love to go for walks. Now this special dog not only has a permanent lap to sit on at home, he gets to take rides in the car to town and has all the latest summer fashions to model. If you are looking for a special friend then please know several members of Craigslist run small "foster cares" out of their home. They save animals from kill shelters and they try to find them special people. They do not get "paid" to foster and usually do it out of the kindness of their heart and love of animals. They take them to the vet, love them and sometimes pay for treatments from their own pockets! This is a great way to get an animal that is socialized and usually good with around kids because they are fostered in homes with kids. Save your new family member today! Some may charge a re-homing fee only to assure that the animal goes to a loving home and many fees are very small considering larger rescues or "breeders". Take a chance and post what you are looking for and remember to support your local animal shelters and if you have a loving animal you need a special place for PLEASE post it before taking to a kill shelter.
