Any art program that can produce images that are 32-bit PNG transparent can be used but Fireworks or Illustrator are preferred. The project will require about 9 different 800x600 backgrounds, 9 head shots of characters that will be around 200x200 and 30 smaller items in the 200x200 range. Those items represent the real meat of the project but only represents about 1/2 of what I need done. This is -potentially- a paid internship, and as we are a nonprofit separate benefits may be available to students receiving government assistance. The right candidate must possess the ability to take a flat design and come up with creative ways to enhance the website through the use of Flash and/or Javascript. You will work with the existing graphical design and integrate your programming to form a functional, dynamic website. The project manager will be working remotely for much of the summer, so this will be a telecommuting (work from home) position as of June 10, going through August 15; after that we will meet and regroup, and (hopefully) put finishing touches on the site. Flexible, can work at home or in our comfortable office on a Newer Mac with current software. You can build charts, follow template rules, and know when to break them. Work with little supervision and do what it takes to stay on schedule. Also be a nice fun person because lets face it, everyone wants to be around nice people! Us: We have a large catalog to get out in a short amount of time (doesn't it always go that way). A new Art Director and a catalog built in Quark and we don't want to go back to that. We need 1-3 people, workload will vary as we ramp up so we won't need 40 hours to start with but it could be that many hours (if you want them) in the middle and toward the end. We don't mind if you take work home and do it there but we do want someone who can come to our office and be at meetings (rarely, we don't like meetings any more than you do) to get direction and discuss proofs. We don't want to review proofs repeatedly, we foster a do it right the first time and KISS way of working (built it correctly to begin with so we can all move on to the next signature). Products are medical, first responder, Firefigher/EMT related but you don't have to be an expert in that. Just an expert at getting pages out fairly fast and with a high degree of accuracy following directions from our Art Director and or merchants. If you would prefer you can do most of your work here which is always faster if for no other reason you can communicate with the Art Director and other staff more easily. We'll try not to distract you or pull any office pranks, we're all too busy for that!
