Live, my band usually feels something like Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, The Band...great players, big harmonies, exciting performances... I'm playing at least one set every day from June 26th to July 6th...on three days, I'll have two sets. If you play bass, drums, lead keyboards, pedal steel (or anything that uses a slide), fiddle, mandolin, guitar, etc and can really kick ass, AND are free for the entire festival, shoot me an email. <![CDATA[Would you like to grow your talent and grow a band? It'd be cool to gather up some souls and start making music on a regular basis with the goal of playing once a week. Two bands in one seems to be ideal: Band one = cover / tribute band (maybe called The Pirates) -- sounds just like the radio -- Tribute to Weezer, or maybe Jack Johnson, Dave Mathews, Foo Fighters ($$ and experience also it's not too hard to play this stuff). Band two = originals music. The real money in music is made by selling publishing rights to orginal songs and collecting royalties from radio stations. Audiences seem to like songs that mean something -- either politically or personally. I like the name-- The Objectors (for an original band) -- ideally the band would be against the WAR! I like focus. Focus pays. Some money, some success, and people having a good time in the audience is the end goal. I'd like to play with potential "Rock Stars", but certainly "Rockstardom" does not have to be in your playing as of reading this post, but Rockstardom does have to be in your heart. I think that's what's really important. A person can always learn how to play, but a person really can't "learn" to be a "Rockstar". I need to practice myself, and learn how to play lead guitar better. If you have a couple years experience playing that would be best, but perhaps the most important thing is that once you're "in the band" you would practice a couple hours every other day. Practicing is the key to playing well. I've traveled and lived all around the country and currently got the balls to pay UWM a lot of money to tell me I'm good at guitar - I'm a guitar major... My point though, is that I want to start something new and honest in the way The Violent Femmes did back in the 80's (if you didn't know they're from Milwaukee you may still respond, but make sure to let me know of your ignorance... ignorance is not a bad word...). I want to compose a long set of songs that outline the experience of being a girl going out to the bars in Milwaukee - something I know nothing about, but something I know will translate well to a live show - you know, calling the dive-bombers on their bluff or something. I'm not gay either, just perceptive :) I also want to play the sex card (sorry). The music should be so hot that no one can touch it! That got me interested again so I picked it up and started learning their songs, then I got a message from them saying they'd broken up. But I'd really forgotten how much I enjoyed playing and am now looking to start a band or find a band that needs a bass player. I'd need a rhythm guitarist/vocalist and a drummer. The lead guitar out of the other band would probably take a lead guitar spot if I can find the rest. I'm open to most styles of music but would prefer to play alt. rock or "new" country. And I'd like to play with people that are creative enough to get some origional songs going and that would be dedicated. <![CDATA[I'm 27 years old, live in Riverwest, and although I have reliable transportation, I don't really want to drive an hour to and from practice twice a week. I play Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Keyboard, and Trumpet in descending order of preference. I have a knack for pro-audio and have pretty much all the equipment necessary to put on a small show or lay down a reasonable demo. I don't sing. My musical interest ranges from 70's country (kenny rogers, johnny cash), through classic rock (metallica, sabbath, skynyrd, van morison), modern pop and mall-punk (staind, afi, arctic monkeys), on to real punk, both classic (lou reed, iggy pop, velvet underground) and modern (90lb wuss, nofx). I'd be interested in Jazz, Hardcore, or Ska as well, but wouldn't call any of those a current strong suit. I'm equally at home in either a Christian or secular group. I prefer playing and being a part of writing originals, but enjoy covers as well as the next guy. I'm not looking to "make it". I'm married and have a real job. Rather, I'm looking for a creative outlet. I don't want to manage the band. I can't host practice. As for personality, I'd rather chill in the back, sitting on my cabinet laying down a smooth bass-line than be up in front, pumping adrenalin and screaming at the crowd. We've been together in various forms for years. We've played The Rave numerous times, Shorewood Legion Hall, Tanner Paull...the list goes on.
