Since 1977, World Experience Teenage Student Exchange (WE) has been dedicated to fostering international understanding between the peoples of the world. If you are interested in learning about different cultures or contributing to creating a more peaceful world, hosting is for you! WE is currently seeking open-minded and caring families willing to open their home to a teenager from another country. WE host families are volunteers who 1) provide meals, 2) can provide a bed and comfortable living space and 3)love, guidance and learning opportunities. The students-many from The Czech Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Bolivia and Japan-are eager to experience daily life in the USA by becoming a member of your family, your community and attending the local high school. All students have their own spending money and medical insurance. <![CDATA[Be a "Keeper" to assist in the operation of the North Point Lighthouse as an historic site in Milwaukee's Lake Park. Serve as a greeter to visitors arriving for scheduled tours on Saturday afternoons and/or other pre-arranged occasions. Greet walk-in visitors during public visitor hours, collect admission fees, staff the lighthouse Gift Shop, share information about the exhibits and lead a longhouse tower climb if you wish and are able. We have some marvelous maritime artifacts and more are on the way. The North Point Lighthouse Friends, on behalf of Milwaukee County, operate and maintain the historic site. At North Point Lighthouse, volunteers are expected to attend at least one scheduled training session. Volunteers must be reliable and respectful of our historic site and act as host or hostess to our visitors. Scheduled dates are flexible. ]]>

<![CDATA[The mission is weekly house cleaning in the newly remodeled well-lit North Point Lighthouse, second floor office, and a portion of the tower stairs. The volunteer(s) will be supervised by the on-site Operations Manager. All equipment and supplies are provided. The Lighthouse is open to the public each Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and for special pre-arranged tours, usually on weekdays. When should cleaning be done? Weekdays--Tuesday through Friday, sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Hours are flexible as to time and day from week to week. The only requirement is the physical ability to do house cleaning in an organized way. There are some steps to be climbed. All inquiries are extremely welcome. Trial interviews to further explain the duties can easily be arranged. You have landed upon a marvelous opportunity in an historic lighthouse in marvelous Lake Park. Groups of school children and the general public will hear your presentation on this historic site. Your topic includes the lighthouse keeper's quarters and tower, the 2007 remodeled and well-lit museum gallery, and maritime artifacts. The collection includes the rare Fresnel lens, the Milwaukee Harbor Fog Bell, and many navigational instruments. You tell the stories of lighthouse keepers and their families, the role of Great Lakes maritime travel in the history of Milwaukee, and of North Point Lighthouse's location in historic Lake Park. North Point Lighthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places Training sessions are available on a scheduled basis for those who wish to explore this volunteer opportunity. You must have the physical requirements to climb stairs and, after learning the facts, be comfortable in speaking to and leading a small group. ]]>

I am starting a Teen Group home for those that are pregnant and/or parenting and also troubled youths of Wisconsin. My group home is called "There's Hope Tansitional Living Center. I am making all plans and arrangements on locations and stuff now but here is where your help comes in at. I am going to be volunteering at the Brewers Stadium for at least 10 games that is about 4 hrs at the most. All we do is work the concession stands and clean after. LEC is a Paris based organization whose aim is to increase international understanding by bringing young people together. LEC host families accept an English-speaking French student into their families for a 3 weeks homestay. The American family need only provide room and board, friendship and understanding. All parents are supported by a network of LEC Coordinators. Although not officially a part of the program, American hosts are often welcomed as guests in France in the home of their French guest. Last summer several hundred French students enjoyed the warmth and friendship of American families. This summer more families are needed to host students ranging in age 13-19. How can I get involved? HOSPICE OFFICE VOLUNTEER Spend 2-4 hours a week putting together materials for patients in the Horizon offices. KNITTING VOLUNTEER On an individual basis or with a group of friends, offer your thoughts and sincerest wishes or prayers as you create a shawl for a Horizon patient. Receive 25 hours per completed piece. CRAFT VOLUNTEER Use your talents to create a valuable care card to show Horizon patients they are loved. Our patients are joyful when they are appreciated with a gift of your beautiful crafts. SPRING CLEAN TEAM / VOLUNTEER Gather a team of volunteers for a day of dirty work! Depending on the patient’s requirements, the team will complete yard work, house work or both! It is a day of fun that will certainly bring a fresh feeling during a very trying time.
