My Husband and I started a car business with a second partner at A warehouse location and things didn't go as planned we are now stuck in a lease until dec. 2009 and our partner has promised to pay the rent and is not doing so. Therefore we are screwed and going into default. I was hoping to connect with different artists to see what the odds are that I could rent out warehouse/Office space within the community for projects,studios, or classrooms to pay the rent on the place....I would need to hear from quite a few people to pull it off but it could be a lot of fun.I myself love to work with creative media and think it would be a ton of fun to have other artists working and sharing space and ideas... It is a 2000 sq.ft 2 bay garage space very well lit inside. and 1000sq. ft office space basically 3 divided spaces within the office area. 2 min. from the Lebanon rd. Spence lane intersection.Downside is there is not a TON of parking. As we are supposed to stay in front of our building probably 5 or so parking spots. On one side of us there is never anyone there so we may be able to use those but, I've got a lot to work out on it and would appreciate any input from people who may be interested....To fully cover costs we would need about 3k a month but if we got half that worked out we would be in much better shape then now. Let me know what you think, if it is plausible, silly, ignorant, fun,intriguing,concerns, and any input or ideas or encouragement on what might work or help would be forever appreciated we are getting desperate. In a fun environment of high-level instruction, encouragement and support, campers explore creativity and develop their artistic talent. <![CDATA[ Attention Artist, Fabulous Fakes Exhibit was a great success! Many compliments to the artist who displayed your work! We appreciate your talent and hope that you will be involved in other exhibits here at the center! You can pick up your photos sometime this week. We are in the process of collecting for our next exhibit “Generations.” Here is some information: There will be a new Exhibit, at the Donelson Senior Center open to all art forms! Tom Sawyer is our next production her at the Donelson Senior Center, Nashville Dinner theatre. It is also our annual children’s camp production so we would like pieces displaying grandchildren, great-grandchildren, children, up to age 18, or family oriented pieces. The exhibit will be displayed in the halls during our production of Tom Sawyer July 25th-August 10th. Bring your pieces (if they are pictures/paintings, we ask that they be framed/mounted, ready to hang) to the center the week of June 16th and deliver them to the director Jane Schnelle or program director Mel Shicks. Artist can enter more than one piece in the exhibit. Be sure to have on the back of each piece: Your name, (name of your studio or business name, if you have one), your phone number, the name or title of the piece, the work or artist that inspired this piece, and the price you want or put “not for sale.” Also a short bio is appreciated (if you would like to hang our bio next to your piece, please bring it framed and ready to hang). If you do wish to sell your piece, 75% of the total sale goes to the owner, the other 25% will benefit the Donelson Senior Center and Senior Center for the Arts. Remember, this is a great opportunity to become more known as an artist, as the plays have sellout crowds every week! Art pieces will be hung by Jane Schnelle, Mel Shicks, and Roberta Steinmetz. Each piece will be given an identification plaque with information about it. There is no limit on the number of submissions as long as there is space in the hallways (first come first serve policy). However, some of them have issues with the veiling (netting) on them being so brittle, and as I plan to wear some of these, I would like to replace it. Does anyone know of anyone who has repair skills with such things, or would be willing to show me? I am a fair seamstress and know where to get replacement veiling, but I am nervous about screwing around with these. <![CDATA[I am looking for feedback from anyone that maybe interested in or have experience with starting a photographers studio co-op. I would like to start up a co-op for photographers who are interested in having solid studio space available 24/7. I have several leads on locations and have found that many of these leads look promising for a small cost. If we could find 30-40 photographers who would be interested in this, I think something could be put together in a very short period of time. Assuming that we would be looking at an 800 sq/ft space (20ft x 40ft) and assuming that the average studio space is going to run about $1.5 sq/ft for lease and utilities, we would be looking at $40 a month. Each photographer getting about 194 hours a year or about 6 hours a month during prime time with extra time late at night. That would come out to about $6 an hour for shooting.
