| this post is to more fully describe this position. "4-day work week" means 4 ten-hour days (you start at 7 a.m.) and if it is your week to "work late" you can expect to work 12 hours or more. "willing to train" is because someone with little experience in this job will feel really important until they discover what this job really entails. "great benefits" are health benefits that you better speak up and demand before 60 days is up (they really want you to wait 90 days) because your ability to obtain health insurance without preexisting conditions expires then. "flexible with start/finish times of clinic" means you will be expected to begin early or stay late depending on how overbooked the schedule becomes. "must be able to keep up with very busy clinic" means that you will be lucky to get your 30-minute lunch and definitely no breaks--i lost 20 pounds in the first couple of months and heard similar stories from other employees. you must enjoy traveling to outlying clinics, getting into unheated SUV on cold mornings to travel to said clinics, be physically capable of lifting heavy supply totes of medical supplies and laser equipment (40-50 pounds--i could have been working for UPS) onto the SUV on three out of four days (your only real nashville clinic is in brentwood) and do this four times on those three days. i notice free uniforms aren't provided now--they were shabby and from ex-employees, and pulled from totes kept in the office where holiday decorations were stored. also plan on doing senseless inventories of nearly every item in the office from pencil sharpeners to thumbtacks when the physician and his favored entourage travel overseas. be sure to eat your breakfast in the morning before leaving your home because grabbing a cup of java or warming up your bagel in the toaster to take with you after you have packed up the SUV for travel to an outlying clinic (shelbyville, pulaski, murfreesboro, and rivergate) will get you called into an office meeting to be told you are not being paid to have breakfast on company time (never mind you aren't going to get a break during the entire day except for lunch and your ride to and from the clinics). oh, and hands off the supposed office-supplied snacks and gum--an actual sign on the kitchen shelf "please help yourself to one piece of gum, not the entire pack". 100% reliable means you are to take care of ALL business and personal errands and doctor appointments on your "off day"--Mondays--don't ever expect to call out sick or for any other matter--this is definitely not the job for anyone with children, pets, spouses, significant others...oh, and the office staff who does work five days a week gets paid for any holidays that fall on Mondays (they work 5 eight-hour days, you work 4 ten-hour days) and you don't...you are safe until--well, figure it out on the calendar...if you enjoy being part of a team that is phased out every year or so, then this is the job for you. i heard some negative comments about this place before i took the plunge--wanted to be fair and disregard the negativity. i strongly recommend you call any other retina practice in the nashville area and speak off the record with employees who have left from there (six in our group in less than one year--nearly the entire staff was looking at one point).

positive points:
stickers on your timecards for proper time punches
occasional lunch from puffy muffin and a monthly birthday cake for all
halloween prizes for coloring in little paper pumpkins--i got an aretha franklin tape but you also could have chosen a candy bar, lip gloss, or halls mentholyptus losenges.
and i must admit the $200 shopping spree at Christmas with dinner was pretty nice and other employees told me it was much better than dinner with some Christmas carolers singing at their table and a complimentary CD of said singers the previous year.
