Okay, here's the deal: I need a SQL Server guru who knows SQL well, is a good dba and has at least some experience with SSRS. I have about a zillion queries that need optimization plus a whole bunch of application programmers who know just enough SQL to be totally dangerous. Fortunately, we know all that and go to great pains to try to get things right. However, we think it's not the same as being completely focused on the topic. Also, we've fallen behind in reporting so I need some immediate help there as well. We're a small company so everything you do here counts and we'll listen to you! BTW, we're right in the middle of upgrading from 2005 to 2008 (wish us luck).

Us: We're small but we hold a significant place in the industry. We've been in business for 10 years and have been hiring all through this 'recession'. We offer a competitive salary, have a 401K and really good health insurance (at least until Obama screws it up). We have a small, tight, interactive team that is made up of a lot of smart people. So, if you aren't smart, you might want to skip this job because they will eat you alive. Also, you have to be a self starter because we don't believe in hiring a bunch of managers. We really like doing things on the fly as it drives our competitors crazy, so you have to be fast and flexible in your thinking. If you hate the way most software shops are run, you'll love this place; very little structure, lots of work and lots of progress. We basically believe in hiring good people and then getting the hell out of their way!

So, how do you get this cool job, you ask? First, don't BS me. I've been around the block and I know crap when I hear it. Even if you're honest, please have the guru level experience I need . Yes, I know you're smart and hard working and a really fast learner but, the job I have open is not for newbies. Please be in commuting distance to Franklin, TN as I really need someone on site. So, all you programmers in India or Russia or any other place that is not within commuting distance will just annoy me resulting in near instant destruction of your broken English resume. Oh, and for all you headhunters, I'm not interested. Yeah, I know you have this great new program but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that this recession has, unfortunately, put a lot of good people on the street.

If you've gotten this far and you still think you can cut it, please send your resume to jimc5240@aol.com. I'm sure there will be a ton of resumes and I'll never have enough time to get back to everybody so, if you don't hear from me in a couple of weeks, you can assume the worst. I hate that but I'm just trying to be realistic and fair. Regardless, good luck with your job search, I know things are tough out there.
