I'm completely outsider of art/design industry. Does anybody know how to expose a material to artists? Any website which artists exchange such information exists? <![CDATA[Serigraph "Dreams and Flowers" of Lea Avizedek LIMITED EDITION OF 300. This one is signed by the artist and marked 113/300. Painting itself 30 x 50 inch. Very beautifully framed. The following is cited from a gallery in Jerusalem: Lea Avizedek was born in Jerusalem and is descendant of an orthodox family firmly rooted in Israel during five generations. She received her formal art training at several institutions including the notable Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem and the school of drawing in Tel Aviv. Her talent was recognized at an early age. The simple sketches that she drew were compared to the works of post-impressionist Toulouse Lautrec, with their simplicity of few lines and bold and colorful silhouettes. The central theme of Avizedek's works is the female form. Her women appear in either a solitary pose of tranquility and reflection or in the social interaction of a group. Varying combinations of chalk or pencil, acrylic or watercolor are applied loosely, and are finally painted or stenciled. A combination of bold, heavies smear with light sketches then create a dense and multi-textured surface. Currently, the artist resides and paints in Tel Aviv. Personal footnotes : "I try to project women as warm, loving human beings. I don't care if the women I paint look ugly, if their legs are fat or their socks are half off. My work is conceived in tension. When I work it's emotional. My life enters on my art. When I paint, I make love with my paper. Nothing I paint is a lie. Every line or fingerprint has a meaning. The back is signed, "James Lewis of Columbus Georgia, down and out blues, January 17, 1964." I found some information about the James E. Lewis museum in...which features African American artists. I don't know whether or not this painting was done by that James Lewis. There is a name on the front lower right hand corner - which I cannot make out but I believe to be the name of the musician. <![CDATA[I acquired the painting during the Invasion of Iraq in April 2003. The painting was located in the republican guard area of Saddam Husseins compound in Uday Husseins personal gym (which only Uday Hussein himself could use) located along the Tigris river in Baghdad. The brief history of the painting is that it was a gift given to Uday wishing him a speedy recovery. Uday Hussein was shot several times in 1997 allegedly by a plot by his father Saddam issued over a power struggle in which Saddam thought there was an alleged plot for Uday to over throw him. Uday ran a newspaper in Baghdad in which propaganda was distributed and this gift was from the newspaper that Uday ran. The same newspaper that Uday used to distribute propaganda that could be used to over throw his father Saddam. It has an unknown artists signature in the lower left corner. The painting also has Arabic script on the back describing the paint used. The Arabic script also translates that the painting was a get well gift presented to Uday in hopes he has a speedy recovery. ]]>
