All I can find are horrid cover bands with the same sad song list and extremely bad Rock and Folk style acts. I'm looking to do something mixing New Wave, Synth Rock, and Brit Pop influenced music. The music I do on my own is a mix of New Wave, Synth Pop, Dream Pop, and Brit Pop style (can't Brit Pop if you're not from the UK). It seems the 'Alternative' acts in CT are cut VERY thin in relation to one another. Even though artists like each others work, it seems to be not exactly what the others want to do. Seems like starting from scratch is the only answer rather than adding to something one already has. It would be nice to blend together Duran Duran, Oasis, The Killers and Depeche Mode styles into one. I'm 36, producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/singer. I do have certain connections all across the industry, but only for the right project would they be able to be used. As far as what I would be doing in the band, I'd prefer to be the front man. However, I'd play guitar if not. Right now with a new project I'm open. I have songs that can be brought over to the band if things work out and I'm sure you all might as well. I continue to be pleased by the DRAMATIC RESULTS that I get, often within the first session. I specialize in a “voice as an instrument” approach. That is to say, you learn to play your instrument (voice) as an instrumentalist learns to play theirs. This includes exploring the range, sound, textures & nuances of your voice along with developing STRONG TECHNIQUE and musicianship. I have created my own “BODY, BREATH, VOICE, WARM-UP” as I see these three elements as inseparable. The warm-up encourages relaxation, effortless vocalizing, a positive singing stance, whole-body breathing and brings an awareness of "you" as your instrument. I work with developing MUSICIANSHIP SKILLS and EAR TRAINING which are also tremendous CONFIDENCE builders, so necessary for singers. I have developed tools for opening the voice so that you can utilize your vocal instrument to it’s potential with all of it’s colors, range and power. I encourage expressing your own ORIGINALITY. Rather than taking away from what you already have, we'll add options and vocabulary so you can sing more expressively. We will work on expanding your skills and vocal palette perhaps replacing some old habits with more positive ones. Teaching voice is a vast subject. For some students a few lessons are enough as the first handful of lessons are especially powerful. For other students who prefer to go more deeply the work can continue for years. I’ve had radio airplay in Canada with several of my compositions over the years, and I’ve written music and lyrics for many television shows. It doesn’t really matter what city you’re in (I’m live in Los Angeles); how old you are or what sex. We're pro's, not beginner level musicians. The music style is twangy/bluesy, southern rock, with pop harmonies, and room to stretch and experiment. We have a rehearsal/recording studio at our disposal outfitted with plenty of gear. Some influences include but never limited to: Wilco, The Band, Blind Melon, The Black Crowes, Old 97's, The Who, New York Dolls, The Faces, The Stones, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, The Clash, Sloan, Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds...
