I need people who feel deeply enough about animals such as these Animals at http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm to spread their message around.

You can play an important role in broadcasting animal -related issues and educating the masses on the internet by creating a myspace and facebook account, and/ or better still create your own blog / website. E.g. http://www.Heart4Animals.com

Are you able to spend some time about 2-3 times a week to find animal -related news to post blog entries ?

I started updating this website with animal-related news because I got to see images of what happens to animals hidden away from our sheltered city lives.

The more people know what animals go through, the more people will refrain from buying products which will further increase animal suffering e.g. fur / fur-lined outercoats.

Do you or if you know of anyone who know Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Farsi, or any other language ? These are enormous markets that not exposed to the cruelty involved in the animal trade, and also, the animal organizations have not been able to penetrate into these markets deep enough. Please tell your friends / relatives about the horrible cruelty involved at http://www.heart4animals.com/2008/04/18/uncategorized/against-fur-farms-in-china-we-need-500-signatures.htm to raise their awareness. We are interested in dedicated, empathetic individuals looking to have a meaningful impact on someone’s life, and who are willing to make at least a 6-month commitment.

The purpose of the program is to offer companionship to the homebound elderly. You would meet with your senior regularly, spending time however you please: going for a walk, meeting over a cup of coffee, taking in a movie, or simply sharing stories in their home. This is a worthwhile opportunity to brighten the lives of seniors who unfortunately suffer through loneliness and solitude.

Hudson Guild's mission is to create and sustain a strong, effective community that acknowledges and responds to the potential, achievements and interdependence of its diverse members. One Brick (www.onebrick.org) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides support to other local non-profit and community organizations by creating a unique, social and flexible volunteer environment for those interested in making a concrete difference in the community. This enables people to get
involved, have an impact and have fun, without the requirements of individual long-term commitments.

When we finish each volunteer project, we gather as a group at a local bar or restaurant for food, drinks and the opportunity to continue to get to know each other. This helps to create a really fun social outlet as part of your volunteer experience.

Here's a little more information about the upcoming event:

About Fort Greene Park:
Fort Greene Park is a 31 acre park located in the heart of Fort Greene, a diverse Brooklyn neighborhood. The park was designed in 1867 by Fredrick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, designers of Central Park and Prospect Park and is home to the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument commemorating the loss of an estimated 11,500 patriots who died on British prison ships in the New York Harbor during the American Revolution (1776-1789). This monument was built in 1908 and was designed by the architect Stamford White. In addition, Fort Greene Park has influenced and inspired writers since the nineteenth century, dating all the way back to Walt Whitman, who was instrumental in founding the park in 1847

It's My Park! Day is a citywide park clean up day organized in part by Partnerships for Parks. This spring, we will be making Fort Greene Park more beautiful, by preparing soil and planting flowers and shrubs in entrance gardens. When they bloom making it look spectacular, you know how rewarding it would be! Plan to revisit the park and enjoy the fruits of your hardwork
Looking for a volunteer opportunity that's fun and social, as well as great for the community? Look no further!

One Brick provides lots of rewarding projects, that are also fun and social. We make volunteering easy... we don't require any sort of on-going commitment, nor any troublesome orientations, like some organizations do. And signing up for a One Brick event is as easy as the click of a mouse.

If you're looking for a fun way to give back to the community and meet like-minded social volunteers, then One Brick is the way to go. Here's an upcoming event you might be interested in...

When: Sunday, May 25, 2008 - 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM
Where: Empire Fulton-Ferry State Park -
1 Main Street, Brooklyn
RSVP: Click Here

About Transportation Alternatives:
T.A. seeks to change New York City's transportation priorities to encourage and increase non-polluting, quiet, city-friendly travel and decrease--not ban--private car use. We seek a rational transportation system based on a "Green Transportation Hierarchy," which gives preference to modes of travel based on their benefits and costs to society. To achieve our goals, T.A. works in five areas: Bicycling, Walking and Traffic Calming, Car-Free Parks, Safe Streets and Sensible Transportation.

This is the fourth annual Tour de Brooklyn. It is one of the three free borough rides that we have to showcase the cycling infrastructure of the borough and to allow new riders to experience cycling in Brooklyn

Other Event Info:
Please look for the event manager at the volunteer check in table. Volunteers will be setting up tables, chairs and literature. This is the most important volunteer job, because a smooth start sets a positive tone for the whole ride. Flexibility is crucial.

This event happens in other locations too, BUT please note that you are RSVPing for 'Hudson River Park in DUMBO'. The SOS Children's Village is situated in the centre of Viet Tri City, the capital of Phu Tho Province. The first children moved into SOS Children's Village Viet Tri in 1999. There are now about 168 orphans living in 15 families under the care of the village mothers and staff. The orphans come from 5 different provinces in the north of Vietnam, and are at the ages between 1 and 18.

Volunteers will help planting vegetable inside the village, cleaning the area, organizing games and social activities for children, teaching English to the children and encouraging them to learn better. Volunteers will also join the families to get closer to the children’s life and try to build up wider horizon for the children.

Location:
About 100 km north from Hanoi Capital.
