I am a 30 year old straight, single guy; a suit & tie professional with hippy roots originally from Seattle, and I just moved to Orlando and am trying to meet laid back, nerdy progressive-types who like to drink beer, and this worked like a charm when I lived out west. I am interested in starting a Scrabble or Trivia Pursuit monthly week night get-together in the winter park, college park, thornton park area. Preferably at a coffee bar or public place until people are comfortable enough to play the home version. The idea is to drink beer and play a game of wits. I have found that people that gravitate towards smartypants board games and quality beer tend to be pretty cool. Nothing creepy, lude or sketchy and nothing Christian. I'm an Athiest; I would only piss you off if you want to make sales for Christ. I am interested in talking about travel, lefty politics, music, books, dogs and the occasional self-depricating anectdote. Dry wit is a must. Couples welcome, but you have to have 3rd wheels to balance the number of players. I am competitive, and welcome competition, but please don't be assholes. Some ideas I had of locales are Stardust, Copper Rocket, Lake Eola Wine Co. or any low key place where there are no servers to piss off while we battle wits in a game of fairplay and get a Belgian-Beer-Buzz. Our next meeting Thursday meeting will be at the FL Hospital Behavioral Access Center. This building is the SINGLE STORY WHITE BUILDING (#525) NEXT TO, the FL Hospital Behavioral Center. It is the Access Center, Bldg 525 adjacent to the the parking lot. If you look at the info/map associated with this event, please zoom in until you see E. King Street. The facility is located at the end of E. King St., east of N. Orange Ave. (527) on the same side of N. Orange Ave. as the hospital. E. King goes over the railroad tracks and shortly reaches a point where you need to turn right or left. Turn left. Parking lot on left. Park in any of the open spaces even though there are no parking signs or signs that say they are reserved for staff. It is after 5:00 and we are expected to park anywhere in the lot. The front door stays locked. Please do your very best to be there early or on time. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm sharp. IF YOU ARE LATE press the buzzer on the wall to the right of the front door. A FL Hospital employee will buzz you in. FL Hospital is letting us use this meeting room on a regular basis at no charge.
