I have two lhasa apsos and, with the temperatures in San Antonio, they require a full grooming / shave down about every 8 weeks. At PetsMart, this was running me about $90 per visit and my dogs were so stressed out that they didn’t want to go through the automatic doors to the store. With Crystal, I can get both dogs groomed for about half the cost and they’re not only more relaxed, they’re happy when they realize where we’re going! It might be a cheaper alternative that you can use if the heartworm is not that advanced. Ivomec <a href="http://www.internetvets.com/Articles/ivermectin_dosing.htm" rel="nofollow">http://www.internetvets.com/Articles/ivermectin_dosing.htm</a> <a href="http://www.heartwormsociety.org/article.asp?id=11" rel="nofollow">http://www.heartwormsociety.org/article.asp?id=11</a> Ivermectin Ivermectin (Heartgard® & Heartgard® Plus by Merial, Iverhart® Plus & Iverhart MAX™ by Virbac and Tri-Heart® Plus by Schering-Plough) was the first in this family of drugs to be approved for preventing heartworm infection. An infection with larvae as long as two months prior to the initiation of ivermectin treatment will be blocked from development. <a href="http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?A=610" rel="nofollow">http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?A=610</a> Ivermectin Only? Melarsomine treatment is expensive and often out of reach for rescue groups, shelters, and many individuals. If the dog is stable (Class I) one option is to simply leave the dog on an ivermectin-based preventive. This option has led to a great deal of misconception about the ability of ivermectin to kill adult heartworms. Let us lay the rumors to rest now: • Ivermectin does not kill adult heartworms. • Ivermectin does shorten the lifespan of adult heartworms. • Ivermectin does sterilize adult heartworms. • Ivermectin does kill microfilaria (keeping the dog from being a source of contagion) • Ivermectin does kill L3 and L4 larvae (preventing new infections). This means that if one opts to treat a heartworm positive dog with an ivermectin heartworm preventive only, one can expect the dog to remain heartworm positive for a good 2 years and the heartworm disease will be progressing during that 2 years. This is not good for the dog but certainly beats getting no treatment of any kind. This approach should only be considered for patients who are Class I and may be able to withstand 2 years of heartworm infection. Now the theory in doing ivomec treatment only is this. Instead of killing the heartworms fast kill them slower. The heartworm treatment that vets use kill the heartworms faster. The dog given the heartworm treatment must remain calm and on a baby aspirin to prevent clots. Why? Because when the heartworms are killed they don't exit the body like roundworms do. The heart worms head for the lungs and this can cause the lungs bronchi to get clogged therefore the dogs can't breath and die. With the ivomec treatment you prevent the larvae from hatching and sterilize the adult heartworms. The life span of a adult heartworm is less than two years. It is cheaper for animal rescue groups to do this instead of the other. Animal rescue groups take in so many animals that cost is always a factor for them and they have to save money if possible. Instead of posting negative posts of what the original person posted about what vets don't want you to know. Maybe you should thank that person for all the rescues they have done. You see they have rescued over 600 dogs in the last 5 years. Not one time have they lost a dog to the ivomec treatment. I know I am a vet tech that works for the groups veterinarian. I have seen the work they have done and all the lives they have saved. The veterinarian I work for is the one who approves of the ivomec treatment as an option. They have spent over $20,000 dollars a year out of their pocket. They do this because they care. Depending on the vet if he/she only cares about money then they won't tell you about this option. Did you know a heartworm positive dog can be given heartguard but not interceptor. Why? Because interceptor will cause a dog to dies if they are heartworm positive becsuse the ingredients in intercept are stronger than ivomec. You can though give a heartworm positive dog Heartguard. Now there are some vets that will dispute this but the makers of heartguard have said that yes you can give a dog heartguard that is heartworm positive. vet clinic ]]>

<![CDATA[You have to treat the Dog as if he was an older sibling to the baby. Give him attention and allow him to explore. If he starts barking....take him immediatly to another room and keep him in there for about 5 min. or so....he will quickly get the hint that his barking results in negative attention. When your husband talks to your tummy and he does NOT bark....give him praise for it. Dogs are very intelligent and it won't take long. When the baby arrives continue to pay attention to him like you normally would. Talking to him in a low soft voice when around the baby will keep him calm.....SLOWLY introduce the baby to him. It is ok to have a big dog and a baby....in fact he probably already knows and will be very gentle. If the baby is in the swing and he decides to push or jump on it....make a high pitch yelp.....they don't like these annoying noises andhe should respond the same way when you confine him to a room for barking. Also...on Animal Planet watch a show called "It's me or the Dog".....it's great and will teach you a lot of things that you can use for your dog. Good luck. <![CDATA[There is a 5 month old fluffy black male. He wants attention and it would take no time to get him adjusted - just feed and pet him. There is also a 10 month old black and white (neutered with shots) male(Prince). Also a spayed Calico female about 2.5 years old. Also another spayed black and white one that is about 15 months old. I was told it was definitely male when it was a kitten, but it had kittens eventually. Her name is Hitler(the pic shows why). She knows her name well so changing it did not work. They have been raised outside, but are very adaptable. They have great personalities. Prince is an awesome adult cat. He gets along with cats and dogs as well. Hitler is a very nervous cat and would take the longest to adapt. She is a hunter and definitely an outdoor cat. You would have to bring a carrier for any of the cats you want. It will take 2-3 days for the cats to get used to you. If for any reason you change your mind, I will accept any of the cats back. It takes patience on your part for these outdoor raised animals to adjust. My sister and her kids were here for a couple of weeks and after 2 days the kids were abusing and playing with these guys.]]>

Our Vet says she's full grown. She still has alot of puppy play in her, and has gorgeous green and blue marbled eyes. We have had her spayed, and given all her shots. <![CDATA[My neighbor has two cats that she has to get rid of. She wanted so badly to keep them for her daughter, but unfortunately she is severely allergic, and just can't do it any longer. It is a Mama cat and her baby girl kitty. Both are beautiful, almost solid gray tabbies. There are just some slight spots on the underbelly that might be a little more towards solid white, but mostly they are almost solid tabby, and they are beautiful!! Mama has not been to the vet or had any shots, and is not spayed. In fact, they found her pregnant and took her in to care for her and her babies. The baby has also not been to the vet or had any shots (nor is she spayed). Both are well-cared for and appear happy, healthy and well-adjusted. The baby is the most docile, happy, cuddly, lovable thing you have ever met. And is used to be "handled" by a 3-year old, so will do well with kids. There are also dogs in the home, so they're used to other animals, as well. We're guessing that the Mom is either under a year old, or just right at a year - she's very young. And the baby is approximately 3 months old. They could literally be twins! The first two pics are of baby, and the last two are of Mama. Beautiful, sweet, precious cats that just need a loving home. I think the funniest time was traveling from California to Syracuse, New York in a mini-van packed with 3 kids, a dog, 3 cats, 2 parakeets and a hamster...lucky for us we had a mini-van... We found that if we ship the middle seat of our van with our household goods we had all that open space for kennels/cages etc..be sure to have tags on your pets, leashes attatched before you open your doors, bowls for food/water/most of your rest areas have doggie enclosed areas so they can all go for a walk when you stop...alot of motels are pet friendly they may ask for a deposit and put you in a smoking room, but you do get your deposit back if the room is clean.. The last move we made was here to retire and again we had 3 birds, hamster, 2 dogs, 3 cats and 4 kids and a 2 ft iguana!...this time we had 2 vehicles to move with, we split up the kids, we also had a horse to bring down on this move! The horse we had shipped once we got here...very lucky he was stabled in a place where friend put him on a transport truck once we left and we were here to greet him...he arrived looking great! There are ways it just takes preparation... Also to me if you have kids it doesn't give them the sense of dread that you are moving and have to get rid of beloved pets!]]>

It has 1/2" bar spacing, which is perfect for everything from finches to parakeets, cockatiels, and small conures. It has an optional playstand top (pictured below) and wavey perches, with are great for your bird's feet. Included are the original plastic cups, never used, and two stainless steel cups which are healthier for your bird (can be disinfected). I also have two playstands. One looks like a playground, complete with seesaw, monkey bars, swing, tetherball, mirror, bell, and food cup. The other is wooden; the paint came off the last time I washed it but otherwise it is fine. It has a swing, ladder, rope perch, and toy. Brand new, all of these together would be about $140. I am asking $75 OBO for all of them! Cash only. This is a really great way to set up your smaller birds with a large cage that allows for fun and flight and some playstands for quality time with you outside their cage. There is one medium-long haired male and two short haired females. I live in a tiny appartment and can't have cats here anymore. <![CDATA[I have a very playful, energetic lab/beagle mix. he is about 20 months old (1yr 8months) and weighs about 60 pounds. I need to find him a good home since i moved to a apt and no longer have a big yard for him to run around in, which for his size he needs plenty of space to play catch and toss around his stuffed animals. : ) he is crate trained, house/broken - potty trained, listens very well to your basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, off, come here, and no. He has traits from both beagle and lab, but mainly has lab traits, except when hes running around outside hes all beagle with his tail straight up ready to smell anything coming his way. It breaks my heart to part with him, but i know he would be better off in a bigger home with more space. He has had all his shots, needs to be neutered. Had acquired red mange as a puppy, but is not contagious at all and was only contracted to him by his mothers womb. It is very well controlled, it took me a while to find the right medicine that worked for him and is doing great now. Will give you a bottle of that medicine just in case he has any flare ups during the transition. but like i said before, it is very well under control and has been fine ever since.
