<![CDATA[I also agree with ALL staff being drug tested randomly throughout the year. I am employed with NEISD in the kitchen and know we are only drug tested when we (all NEISD staff not only kitchen) first apply or when reporting an accident. My children also attend NEISD schools and I would rest easy knowing the people my kids spend the majority of the day with aren't high or addicted to drugs of any kind. ]]>

The responsible party ran a red light and hit my car. I could have been killed. Now, this person, named Johnny, is denying that he ran the light and lying to my insurance company. Johnny is going to get away with this because the reporting officer failed to interview any of the witnesses at the scene. They are with our children all day. I know I WOULDN'T want my child with a Drug USER. I saw the News about this subject and a parent was asked if teachers should be drug tested. That parent replied : What they do on thier OFFTIME is their business ". Well SORRY but THATS WRONG ! Drugs can stay in your system for days. And I guess that parent felt like it was O.K. if thier child's teacher went to class stoned or high.It's just outragous at how our society thinks. <![CDATA[Shame on Susan Reed… I’m writing this letter because I cannot stand by and idly watch one of my fellow comrades in arms be persecuted and treated so horribly when I know he is an honorable man and a champion of freedom. I’m talking about my friend Tom Pena, a soldier and a war veteran who I met as a patient at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center Warrior Transition Battalion, Fort Bliss, Tx. My name is Joe Keel, I am also a two time veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a former Navy sailor, who went and joined the Army National Guard, and I am proud to have served my country as I know my friend Tom was too. I say was because I am starting to feel like he is. My friend is married to a lovely young lady, and they are having a terrible time because their fight is not over. It turns out Tom and Carrie are having to fight an enemy within their own town, where they used to feel safe. Something very terrible happened to Tom and Carrie while he was in between deployments, and that should be hard enough to deal with, if the Bexar county District Attorney’s office would just let them be and move on with their lives. It is a common scenario, soldiers suffer from PTSD and can’t cope and sometimes their families feel the affects and can’t deal with it either. The short of the story here is Tom and Carrie had a small fight while they were engaged. Their local P.D. made matters worse and dropped a packet to the D.A.’s office. According to what I learned, Carrie and Tom told me that they had been assured nothing would happen by a clerk in the D.A.’s office. So they moved forward and put the past behind them and were married right before he went back to Iraq. Now comes the upsetting part. While Tom is fighting for his country and his life in Sadr city Baghdad, Iraq Carrie receives a letter stating that, after ten months the D.A. is going to charge Tom with a crime of domestic violence! Carrie was shocked and devastated, because it was a total lie. Now, according to Carrie she made the statements to the peace officer under the influence of alcohol and fear of the peace officers to say something to avoid going to jail. I can actually say that does happen, because I myself am a police officer in Virginia, and to some people the fear of going to jail can be real frightening. My point is this, if there had been a real crime the actions of the D.A. would be to act on it right away. A real D.A. would get the victim a protective order and warn the accused to stay away from the victim. The D.A. would not release the accused to go back home to live with the victim. Also, the accused and the victim would not have gotten married 7 months later, with a ceremony by a judge from the same county courthouse. I am in total disbelief and I am appalled at the actions of the junior prosecutor to abuse a policy that was made to actually protect real crime victims. Carrie has stated repeatedly that nothing happened; it was all a lie out of fear of the police, who probably showed up in force and rushed into their home like Nazi Storm troopers! Yet, Susan Reed is allowing a junior prosecutor to push this case, knowing it is a direct waste of time and taxpayer money. As a peace officer, I know domestic violence is a serious crime and should be handled with all the attention it deserves. But there are instances where the letter of the law does not fit and it is up to the elected and appointed officials to use common sense and make sound judgment to not waste resources and to protect the real victims of these types of crimes. I have actually had a chance to look at the complete case file with police report. I even saw a correspondence from the CSI of the P.D. where the case was from (Live Oak Police Department) . Anita Seaman, the CSI for this case, actually went down to the D.A.’s office and pleaded with Catherine Babbit to drop the charges and that it was the Live Oak Police Departments Official position to have the charges dropped and the warrant revoked. My God, are we still in America? I mean you have the complainant telling you the accusation was a lie out of fear of going to jail under the influence of whiskey and beer. You have the police department saying drop the case, there really was no crime; and you have no immediate involvement of the D.A.’s office to make a real attempt to protect an alleged victim until almost a year later, when the accused is off at war fighting for his country and the ideals of freedom and democracy. Come on Citizens of San Antonio, what’s wrong with this picture?? I smell scandal and corruption. I smell fraud waste and abuse… but that’s just my opinion… and I did after all fight for mine and your right to speak our minds with out fear of reprisal. I’m Joe Keel, and my friend is Tom Pena. We are both combat veterans and we both deserve a heroes welcome home. Instead my good friend and war veteran received a trip to jail with a heart monitor on him all because a junior prosecutor wants to make a name for her self. I tell you what, I was proud to serve and be an American, but I was not proud that June 17th day when my friend was taken off of Ft Bliss to be charged for a crime he did not commit. I have one request and that is to the D.A.’s office of Bexar County. Let Tom Pena go leave him and Carrie alone and let them get on with their lives. Please let Tom heal up and get back home to his loving wife Carrie and his family. God Bless America. Let America be awakened to the tyranny within, for it will be the abuse of power that is the beginning to the fall of the republic. I urge Bexar county residents to appeal to your local city council, state representatives and the office of the attorney general along with the governor’s office to call for action and to review your county and city offices and see that they are conducting themselves ethically, morally and within the legal limits of the law. <![CDATA[Please Read: City offers Garbage Rebate Assistance program -Qualified residents benefit from one-time credit- The City of San Antonio’s Department of Community Initiatives and Solid Waste Management Department is taking applications for the new Garbage Rebate Assistance program to help San Antonio residents with the $24 garbage/conversion credit. The program will assist households through September 30, 2008. To apply, residents must meet certain criteria. Households must have an active residential CPS Energy account and pay the City’s solid waste fee. They also must meet 125 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. For example, a family of three would have a household annual income of no more than $21,462. Priority will be given to persons age 60 years or older, families with school-age children and those who are disabled. "We will use the guidelines as we do for the CPS Energy and SAWS utility assistance programs. Annually, we serve more than 25,000 households with these programs,” said Dennis Campa, director of the Department of Community Initiatives. “We hope that the $24 rebate will benefit Solid Waste rate payers,” he added. To reach eligible seniors, the City will sponsor 20 City Council district fairs beginning in January 2008. When residents sign up for the Garbage Rebate Assistance program, they will also have an opportunity to learn more about free income tax preparation, financial literacy services, health and wellness programs, prescription drug programs and computer classes. <![CDATA[I am still mad about this issue and feel CPS should give us a credit on our bill. I live outside the city limits and a garbage collection credit has nothing to do with me. I was just wondering what others on here thought about this issue. Considering my CPS bill used to be only $75 a month and now with fuel charges and extra unexplained taxes is now $180 a month. The city manager has no clue about how "normal" people live. And an energy credit would benefit most people considering prices on everything are going up. <![CDATA[Most of the posters on this thread are exhibiting signs of road rage mentality. Common courtesy does say keep right except to pass. That was once taught in driver's ed. here in Texas, don't know about that anymore. The flashing of headlights is an internationally recognized "request" to please move over (ever been on the Autobahn?). It's not someone yelling at you. However, if you insist on maintaining the left lane, even doing the speed limit, and don't move over, you must take responsibility for your actions. You are causing road rage and are exhibiting passive road rage of your own. Just because you believe you're following the law doesn't mean you're right. You're only meeting the minimum standards. I remember when Texans prided themselves on being courteous. If you don't yield to your neighbor, you're not exhibiting the qualities our Texas mothers tried to instill in you. And, we tax payers shouldn't have to pay for signs on every street for every traffic law. Use some common sense out there. This rant is from a past road rager that came very close to losing his life from the same scenario you folks are talking about. Slow car in front, I passed on the right with rage at 100mph. The fellow up front slammed on his brakes because he perceived me to be coming up to fast. I dodged him and rolled three times and barely survived. I hit no one else. Yep, it was my fault. He may have shared culpability, but I would be wrong to blame him when I was the one driving aggressively. The only answer is courtesy and patience. If you think otherwise, I'm here to tell you that you are mistaken. Take it from one who knows. Neither of you is right or have the right to assume an aggressive attitude on public streets. You're both wrong. ]]>

My uncle Martin Sada Jr. was murdered in the field there at his home on the north bound side of IH35 at Schwab Rd. The land is for sale now. Its about 64 acres and I was wondering If anyone remembers this? Does anyone know any information about what happened or even the correct date? I have googled and all that but I can't find anything. My uncle and his wife and two small sons lived there for a while then my aunt went back to WV and my uncle was murdered there in the field. Then somewhere along the way his parents moved into the home, they were Martin and Stella Sada, they were from San Antonio. My uncle by marriages sisters were the late Caroline Sada former Model for joskey's etc, she passed away many years ago and the other sister is Jean Sada. I verly remember Jean from when I was a child. If anyone in the Law enforcement field is interested- they never caught anyone or anything. Even when giving them an actual response that was not offensive to anyone, gave truth, and did not take sides. <![CDATA[ When "Pawn Shop" is mentioned to some people, they automatically think of a place that stolen items are fenced (which may be but with proper ID required that should make it difficult and a deterant). Now as for myself I found myself on both ends of the receipt. From time to time when I've needed some quick cash the pawnshops were quick to give me very little (1/4 of actual value)for my item and charged me loan sharking interest rates(15-20%month)until I could pull it out. On the other hand when I do have some extra money I will look in pawnshops for that good deal on something I could use or need. Finding that good deal is like a needle in a hay stack. With this era of information pawnshops are quickly finding out what their newly aquired items (new and sometimes used) value are. Google is wonderful isn't it? So guessing and mis-pricing is a thing of the past for them. Unless you run into the total opposite where management isn't using the info highway to find competitive prices and is asking way more then the items new value. Now once in a very long while you think you've found a great deal only to find out when you get home your item does not work and when you go to return it they only offer you store credit. Good luck finding something else there soon you'll want or use. I've even seen these pawnshops place an item back out for sale after I let them know this item is not working. Guess they got stuck with it so they're just passing the buck onto us. I think I'll just spend my money on ebay. Everything is as it seems there too now isn't it? ]]>

I have never posted anything on this web-site, but was 'venting' via this forum... it was and still is, a very emotional time for our family. The outpouring of support is very comforting. Many of you asked questions I can not answer, unfortunately, for legal reasons. I can not go into details about the case as it is still being reviewed. I can only say that the City of San Antonio may be losing one of their 'heroes' (the oneS thAt Frequently riDe in the big red trucks or the ambulances with their sirens on them......). Although I recently heard a person refer to them not as heroes, but rather as a "racquet" (direct quote) of people that make up injuries to collect on insurance payments. But thankfully, there are people that know this to be false, and realize that these heroes injure themselves because of their duty to save peoples lives! Again, thank you for the emails of support and please keep sending them.
