<![CDATA[People, you are all missing the point. That post was to point people in the right direction of some companies NOT to book through because it is truly pay to play. I understand the pre-sale stuff and I actually prefer to do presale because . . . .well after all are sold we make some decent cash. Plus after all the tickets are sold, you make a good amount from the door. The post was aimed at companies that are charging a ridiculous amounts of money up front just to play, then have you sell really expensive pre-sale tickets for a dive bar. For instance $70 to play, sell tickets at $12 (which they expect every cent back) for . . . . O’Connell’s. (I am not bashing O’Connell’s because they usually don’t have this kind of promoter) The post that was originally listed was to inform people of some of the promoters and promotion companies that truly take advantage off younger inexperienced bands that don’t really know about booking. <br> <br> Some venues make the band do pre-sale because it insures that they will not lose money that night. The difference is that these venues and promoters set a realistic expectation, for instance $3 / per ticket for about 30. After that, you make up your own price and will always get at least $60. That is the kind of pre-sale worth doing and that is the pre-sale requirements by a promoter, club owner etc. . that actually gives 2 shits about the band. <br> ]]>
