It was a 4 alarm blaze that brought in help from many other stations around the north bay (Marin Fire Services; Novato, Marinwood, Marin County, Kentfield, Ross, Mill Valley, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Southern Marin and Ross Valley). The only injury of the night was one of our own due to a fall and it was minor.

More information can be found on local news channels or our website http://www.cityofsanrafael.org/Government/Fire.htm

Insurance Company to Offer Eminent Domain Insurance

By Jon Coupal

When the subject of unusual insurance policies comes up, people
usually think of Lloyds of London, the venerable insurance syndicate
that has been insuring almost anything for over 300 years. In
addition to writing mundane policies, Lloyds has insured Tina
Turner's legs, Keith Richards' fingers and even Tom Jones' chest
hair.

Now we have a San Diego firm offering to write policies that some
observers might find just as odd but, sadly, could be a prudent
investment for California property owners. The Ward Group LLC, in
partnership with the AmWins Group, Inc. is offering to write
policies to protect property owners against losses suffered if they
become victims of eminent domain -- the government taking of private
property. A Home Value Safeguard policy would provide up to $200,000
to cover loss of market value when the home is taken, plus up to
$50,000 to relieve the expense of moving.

The use and abuse of eminent domain has become a major issue since
the 2005 U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Kelo v. the City
of New London. In this case, the city wanted to take the middle
class homes of Susette Kelo and her neighbors to make way for a
development including an office building for Pfizer, the giant
pharmaceutical company. The court said there were no federal
constitutional protections for the homeowners -- even if the
property would not be used for public purpose -- as long as the city
could claim that there was some "public benefit." (Of course, the
plain language of the Constitution refers to public "use," but so
what?) In this case, the public benefit was higher tax revenue.
However, the Justices added that individual states were free to
establish more stringent protections for the owners of private
property.

Not surprisingly, most states reacted very quickly to this
horrendous decision by making it more difficult to take private
property from unwilling sellers to be turned over to other private
interests, while maintaining the traditional power of government to
use power of eminent domain for public purposes like schools and
roads.

California is notably absent from the list of states providing these
protections to property owners. Here, government can continue to
take homes, business, farmland and even houses of worship to be
turned over to private developers for strip malls and other
profit-making projects.

While some property owners may want to consider eminent domain
insurance, there is even more powerful insurance being offered on
the June 3rd ballot, and it's free. Proposition 98 will bar
governments from seizing private property to be turned over to other
private interests, without interfering with government's legitimate
ability to acquire property for truly public projects, like roads,
dams and fire stations.

If voters approve Proposition 98 three weeks from now, they can take
great comfort in knowing that their property will not be taken by
greedy governments looking to increase tax proceeds. And isn't
providing peace of mind what real insurance is all about?
Whose behind Prop 98.

Approximately, 83% of the backers are wealthy Apartment and Mobile Home Park Owners. and is a small minority by number. A main sponsor is Sam Zell, who holds more Residential Real Estate Units then any private person in America He also owns 300 Mobile Home Parks They have deceptively got the Prop 98 on the ballot by misleading the public who signed the initiative that it was to eliminate the taking of private property by the government for private profit. (Kelo vs Supreme Court) Ms Kelo had her home taken by the City of New
New London Conn. by eminent domain for use by a private developer. Do you really believe those fat cats give a hoot about Ms Kelo? They would be the likely developer who convinced the City of New London to take the property so they could make a killing on their project.
But wait, at the end of Prop 98 actual Ballot text, is one lone paragraph abolishing Rent Control.; from eminent domain to Rent Control, that’s a reach.

They will make a fortune if 98 passes.

If Prop 98 passes privately owned Section 8 housing are not likely to renew Rental contracts at the old Rental rate. Subsidized private housing, and low income housing, under contract or leases with Cities and Counties are not likely to be renewed and cooperate as in past as the Landlords can raise the Rents as much and any time with no restrictions and prohibit any interference from local governments. Rent control in Cities like San Jose, Los Gatos, Milpitas keep Rents down in adjacent Cities not under Rent Control. If Prop 98 passes there will be no limits on Rent. This is a monster Proposition.
The most vulnerable ,Senior Citizens, the elderly on fixed income, the poor, and the disabled in Mobile Home Parks will likely just walk away, at the sale of their Park Home , because a potential buyer will not want to pay the high new space rent. E.g. Santa Cruz recently lost rent control and the space rents doubled and in some cases quadrupled.

Prop 98 supporters are a greedy small minority and heartless to the core.

They give Capitalism a bad name and face.
foremost, it reflects another failure by projecting a level of
spending in excess of revenue. The fact is, the taxpayers of
California have done their job -- and then some. You have provided
political leadership with billions of dollars more than just a few
years ago. In fact, general fund spending has about doubled in just
ten years, from $50 billion to $100 billion. It may be a worn-out
expression, but it is fundamentally true: California does not have a
revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

The Governor proposes to close much of the gap, not by reducing
expenditures to the level of revenues, but by, once again, borrowing
money. This time, there is a complicated proposal involving
"securitizing" the revenue stream from the state lottery, in the
form of bond debt. This must be approved by voters. The bad news is
that there would be a trigger mechanism which would impose a sales
tax increase if the voters failed to approved the lottery proposal.
We strongly object to any proposal which threatens Californians with
a tax increase if they fail to approve some other proposal.

I had several meetings yesterday with Legislative leaders whom I
believe to be fiscal conservatives opposed to tax increases. What
they told me is that there is great skepticism about the Governor's
spending plan and that it is unlikely that the budget would garner
the requisite two-thirds vote in the Legislature needed for passage.

In the meantime, know that your executive, lobbying & legal teams at
HJTA are monitoring the budget process very carefully to protect
YOUR interests and the interests of all California taxpayers.

Every year millions of people are diagnosed with chronic pain. Millions of people are added to the list of millions of individuals who were robbed of a productive life, are no longer able to afford health care, are misdiagnosed and mistreated a thousand times, watch their careers and everything they worked for disappearing, their families falling apart, falling in financial bankruptcy, getting addicted to drugs, living depressed and often ending their lives without even knowing what "hit" them.

Chronic Pain is and epidemic of humanitarian proportions. The medical establishment so far failed millions of individuals, their families and loved ones. Society is deprived of talent, the next Einstein, the next great humanitarian, great father, mother, teacher, mayor, artist, etc, etc. Insurance policies are often discriminatory and do not cover enough to treat chronic pain.

The workplace has no pace for individuals in chronic pain although most injuries happen at the workplace.

Chronic pain is the invisible handicap of the 21st century's modern society.

But what if people were educated enough to know what is pain at least? Wouldn't that be the first step to treatment?

Marriage Protection Amendment Drafted by AFM Is Essential to Protect Views of the Vast Majority of Americans

WASHINGTON, DC - The Alliance for Marriage Foundation is calling upon Congress to pass AFM's federal Marriage Protection Amendment in the aftermath of a California Supreme Court decision striking down marriage.

"In the most populous state in the Union, radical activists have convinced judges to ignore the will of the people and to follow the destructive lead of the Massachusetts courts in striking down the common sense definition of marriage," said Matt Daniels, president and founder of the Alliance for Marriage Foundation. “California is now ground-zero in the Battle to Protect Marriage, and the fight in California must now be joined in the Congress.”

Recently, California voters delivered over 1.1 million signatures to protect marriage with a constitutional amendment. The signatures are being verified by county election officials for the constitutional amendment to be approved for the November 2008 ballot.

“The future of marriage in California should be determined among the 36 million residents of the State of California -- not by the personal, closed-door deliberation of seven judges,” said Rev. Sam Rodriguez, Jr., an Advisory Board Member of the Alliance for Marriage Foundation. “For several decades, America has been wandering in a wilderness of social problems caused by family disintegration. Tragically, as bad as our current situation may be, today’s decision by the Court can only make the situation dramatically worse.”

"Given the continuous attacks upon marriage in courts across the country, AFM's Marriage Protection Amendment is clearly the only hope for the American people to determine the future of marriage under our laws," Daniels added.

"Americans want our laws to send a positive message to children about marriage, family and their future," said Daniels.

Members of Californians for Marriage include Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, Jr., National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, Rev. Felix Posos, Northern Pacific Latin American District of the Assemblies of God, Dr. Jessie Miranda, Alianza Ministerial Evangelica Nacional, Dr. David Lazo, Church of Power, Dr. Sergio Navarrette, Assemblies of God, Pacific Latin, and Rev. Gilbert Montelongo, Tabernacle of Praise.

Californians for Marriage is sponsored by the Alliance for Marriage Foundation a multicultural coalition whose Board of Advisors includes Rev. Walter Fauntroy – the D.C. Coordinator of the March on Washington for Martin Luther King Jr. – as well as other civil rights and religious leaders, and national legal experts. |

I have even tried to kill myself" ordered the child back into the custody of her mother. The child was spending her spring break with her father, who appeared in court, and was chastised by the judge, when the mother's attorney indicated that the father might not be returning the child to her mother after spring break. The father asked the judge directly, if she believed it was in the best interests of the child to return her to a place that makes her want to kill herself, and Judge Bernardini said. "Yes it is!"
Here is the text of the e-mail from the 11 year old.
This is something I sent to : (The name of her schoolmate she sent this to, has been left out for privacy)
I'm not special. I have almost no-self confidence after living with my mom for this long. Two summers ago I regained all my confidence, after about a week with my mom it was gone again. I waited all year hoping it would come back the next year and it didn't. I've been like this for about a year. I have tried to cut my wrist with a broken army knife and I've wish I was dead over twenty times a year for the past six years of my life. If you want to prove you really are a good friend to me, either find a way to help me get my confidence back up. I'd really like to have someone to rely on and help me.
Once you read this reply by saying your going to help or just stay the same..
How competent are the people who are making decisions about our lives, and our children's lives, if they cannot figure out, that having this child live with her mother CANNOT be in her best interests?
This same child had reported to a a Family Court Services Assessor, that her mother continually verbally abused her. This assessor recommended that the child continue to live with this verbal abuse. Perhaps her suicide attempt was an act of desperation upon finding out, that even after describing how she lives in constant fear of being yelled at, she was still not going to get any relief from her mother's abuse. Her mother's abusive behavior includes such actions as calling her a "little traitor", and shoving court documents with things the child had told the assessor in her face. Now the mother has tried to intimidate this child from any further disclosures by telling her, "You are going to wind up in a Foster home!"
While the child's attorney agrees, that the mother's behavior in both instances is inappropriate, she is still trying to figure out what to do. Would you trust any of these people with your kids? | http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/cyber/echouafni_s.htm

Below are just a few examples of some of the crimes carried out against me by the employees of Dominican MRI Center, RMG. Because of what these people did to me they belong in jail. No, they don’t rob banks, but they are without question criminals.

Dr. Michael Spellman ~ Perjury during deposition and theft of drugs. He claims to have changed my MRI referral from "WITHOUT CONTRAST" to "WITH CONTRAST". Rider changed the referral without my informed consent. Spellman was just trying to cover up the facts. Spellman is a partner in Dominican MRI Center. From what I understand, changing an MRI to add contrast can add a thousand dollars or more to the total bill. My insurance approved an MRI “WITHOUT CONTRAST” and they billed for WITH CONTRAST, so they are also overcharging insurance companies.

The story: Bay area grade schoolers from many schools have practiced since they were told in September that they would play at the Giants game May 17. Last week during their final rehearsal at the Giants stadium, they were told by the Giants that they were not going to play because of a scheduling error. The Giants went on to say they had a professional group coming instead. Then later they said it was actually under privileged youth from the Mission District called Mardi Gras Brazilian Carnival, with Los Vegas style costumes and a showgirl venue. E mailing the person representing their group did not bring any resolution. The Mardi Gras Carnival scheduler said, well it happened to them before.

First the Giants said that they had scheduled a professional group to play instead of the kids playing the National Anthem during May 17th game. Next they said it was not a regular professional group at all but an under privileged group from the Mission. Turns out in fact it is "The Mardi Gras Brazilian Carnival Dancers" featuring the King and Queen and Las Vegas style bikini clad dancers. So the Giants just said "Too bad kids." I guess the Giants just don't care if the kids did practice for the last nine months for this event. Too bad all the parents, relatives, grandparents (I am one) and friends who bought tickets. In fact we were 500 miles out of Palmer Alaska heading down the Alcan to F.S. to see our grandson play at the Giants game, when my cell phone rang (lucky us as cell phone coverage is rare in rural Alaska) from our daughter telling us of the kids being canceled. With the cost of gas up here in Alaska we decided to turn back for home (another 500 miles). So here I sit rather shocked and very disappointed with the Giants. Well maybe if they funded the music program in these kids schools for a while I might feel better? As it is there is no more money for the music programs. What do you say Giants? Will you live up to your name or stay diminished in our eyes? |
On June 3, 2008 if Prop 98 passes you will lose Rent Control. Forever

NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98 NO 98

This may be one of the most important vote you ever made.

WHO IS BEHINED Prop 98.

(Kelo vs Supreme Court) Ms Kelo had her home taken by the City of New London Conn. by eminent domain for use by a private developer.

Subsidized private housing, and low income housing, under contract or lease with Cities and Counties are not likely to be renewed and cooperate as in past as the Landlords can raise the Rents as much and any time with no restrictions and prohibit any interference from local governments. Rent control in Cities like San Jose, Los Gatos, Milpitas keep Rents down in adjacent Cities not under Rent Control. If Prop 98 passes there will be no limits on Rent. This is a monster Proposition.
The most vulnerable Senior Citizens, the elderly, on fixed income, the poor, and the disabled in Parks will likely just walk away, at sale of their Park Home , because a potential buyer will not want to pay the high new space rent. E.g. Santa Cruz recently lost rent control and the space rents doubled and in some cases quadrupled.
Prop 98 supporters are a greedy small minority and heartless to the core.
They give Capitalism a bad name and face.

Most of these kids (5th. graders) will be attending a variety of middle schools in September. Giants made a mistake and the kids have to pay! Please do not recommend social services, housing authority, aids housing non-profit groups etc; for I have tried all of these organizations, many times, and they have done little, if anything, on my behalf.
I NEED IMMEDIATE HOUSING (NOT IN THE TENDERLOIN WHERE I WILL GET MY HEAD BLOWN OFF)!

| A lot is at stake here this June. A real estate magnate by the name of Sam Zells and his company Equity Life Style (ELS) is behind proposition 98.
This bill and the underlying segments to it which the average citizen will not see or know is designed to destroy rent control. Smoking the bill that it is against Eminent Domain to which has become a major issue , this bill is rought with lies and a personal vendetta against government that if passed will open up a pandoras box not just in this state but across the country.
The company is led by Sam Zells, a real estate mongrel who has made it a mission in life to file frivolous lawsuits across the country to the point that many cities, counties have no money left to fight him and he goes in for the kill.
He has absolutely no interest in the welfare of any citizen. He is 100% about profit and money. His take on eminent domain is so that he can do what he wants with his land to the point it affects the actual livlihood of innocent victims, will cause more homeless, remove affordable housing for seniors and disabled and in his quest to build what he wants with no regard to environmental impact. He is the male version of Leona Helmsly)The Millionaireness who saw those beneath her as the "Little People" VOTE NO ON PROP 98. YES ON PROP 99.

Get out and vote this June....... |

As you may know, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national health agency dedicated to finding a cure for the number one killing disease of children, leukemia and the related cancers, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. My older brother was dignoses with leukemia (A.L.L.) in the late ‘80’s. The 6 years following his diagnoses were a very scary time for my family. He eventually reached remission. We were lucky. When my brother was receiving treatments less than half of all A.L.L. patients made it to remission. As the sister of a survivor I can tell you that organizations like this one do make a difference.

The Team In Training program is a comprehensive endurance-training program for walkers, runners, cyclists, skiers, mountain bikers and triathletes to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The goal of Team In Training is to increase the funding that supports the Society’s mission while promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I first learned about Teem in Training around the time that my brother was going into remission. I wanted to join the cause then but was asked to consider joining when I was over the age of 18. It has been more then a few years since then, but I have finally joined the team.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is one of the top non-profit organizations in the country for managing their funds, with at least 75% of your contribution going directly to research and patient services. Please consider supporting my efforts in the fight against leukemia and the blood-related cancers.

On June 3, 2008 if Prop 98 passes you will lose Rent Control Forever
This may one of the most important votes you ever made.
