<![CDATA[I rescued this adorable yellow Labrador from being hit on Hwy 30. I've tried, without success, to find her owners. She is housebroken, leash trained, knows commands and has been spayed. She is one of the sweetest and most loving dogs I have ever had in my home. She adores my son and loves to cuddle. I would keep her if I had a fenced yard, but I do not and she tends to run the neighborhood if she gets outside without her leash. Although she does come back, once she's had her strut and moment of freedom, the dangers are too great to let her roam. Because I cannot find her owners, I am now interviewing for a new home for this great pup. She is probably no more than a year old, and it appears she was spayed sometime in the last 6 months, as the scarring is still very noticable on her belly. She would probably do best with someone who has a large yard and children for her to play with, or perhaps even another dog. She loves to play with my shepherd and the children next door. If you have a place for her, please write to me and let me know of your interest. You just cannot go wrong with this beautiful little girl. I have not seen anything aggressive about her; all she wants is your love, your time and your attention. Thanks. ]]>

<![CDATA[We were on our way home tonight when the car in front of us swerved, narrowly avoiding hitting a dog. I got out and called to it and it came to me. It's a male and is not neutered. He is very friendly, but has been badly neglected. We took pictures and videotaped his severely matted poop-encrusted condition. I understand that sometimes animals can be difficult when you try to groom them. I can understand the occasional mat and toe nails sometimes getting a bit long, but the condition this dog was in is ridiculous. I would rather see a dog with no hair than a dog whose hair is so bad that it effects his ability to walk properly and mats so thick you can barely find his ears and toes. At least with a dog with missing hair, you can cut people some slack because they could be treating it. One of my own dogs is on stuff now because of hair loss. But the dog we found tonight was in inexcusable shape. As soon as we can, we will be getting him into the vet's office to get scanned for a microchip and may need their help getting him cleaned up (we spent hours on his hair tonight and were able to get everything but his feet as it appears that the mats have completely engulfed his dew claws to the point of us not being able to see them and touching that area causes him pain) and whatever else he may need. If you think this may be your missing dog, please email me through this posting with his description (breed, collar color, age, etc). Be prepared to explain to us and to a vet why he was not properly cared for and also be prepared to reimburse any vet fees we might acquire meeting his basic needs. If you have not claimed him after a few days, you can rest assured knowing that he will be well cared for.
