My current equip is : 1 dean edge playmate 10 active electonics 4 string bass 1 cort active/passive 6 string bass 1 peavey 2 channel 600 watt bass head 1 300w 15" cab (getting a second one on next payday) My influences consist of : black sabbath, iron maiden, sepultura, static-x, slipknot, drykill logic, etc.. I can pretty much learn to play anything almost on the spot as long as I can get atleast the main notes first then I can add anything inbetween. Im looking to find some people who are dedicated and are looking to pursue music as a carreer (I hate my damn dayjob) and get paid. Id like to play nothing but originals, but Im happy playing some covers as well. I will not play country, I cannot stand it... Im really looking for hard rock/alternative/metal/punk or something along those lines. I do have my own transportation, but the only thing is I do have a day job that I pull about 50-60 hours a week, but I am always off BY 8pm. <![CDATA[Just a quick note to remind everyone that ticket sales for tonight's local show by founding Television members RICHARD LLOYD and BILLY FICCA's new band THE SUFI-MONKEY TRIO have been extremely slow. We realize it's a Monday night, and a $16 ticket price (or $18 at the door), but this rare concert is a perfect example of the sort of unusual bookings that the Tiny Team are trying to bring through Savannah on a more regular basis. Richard and Billy are quite literally LEGENDS of punk rock and new-wave music. They are the folks who convinced Hilly Kristal to let original, underground bands play CBGB's. Their band, Television, is one of the most important and pioneering rock bands of all-time, inspiring and influencing everyone from the Talking Heads and the Patti Smith Group to R.E.M., Luna, The Smiths, The Pixies and countless other seminal groups that would come in their wake. Malcolm McLaren tried to manage Television, and when they turned him down, he stole their ripped t-shirt, diffident stage presence and in-your-face guitar style (without the stunning virtuosity) dumbed it down for the masses and created The Sex Pistols. Richard's lead guitar work on Matthew Sweet's phenomenal power-pop albums Girlfriend, Altered Beast, 100% Fun and Kimi Ga Suki represent some of the strangest and most technically intricate solos ever to receive massive commercial radio airplay. His newest record is a minor masterpiece of Stonesy, Led Zep-esque rock (with a strong dose of Television-style compositions), and this is his first tour of the Southeast in over 20 years. Opening act The Supreme Court is tremendous as well. Lead guitarist Glenn Phillips is a cult hero worldwide for his completely unique style and tone. Frontman and rhythm guitarist Jeff Calder (of The Swimming Pool Q's) is one of rock music's most literate and inscrutable characters. <![CDATA[First off, I am a little jaded with music from poor past band experiences. I'm not looking to have an ego struggle with anyone. That isn't music and it certainly isn't fun. So let me go ahead and set that disclaimer out front. I am a guitarist/singer/songwriter looking to collaborate with a couple of like minded souls here in Savannah. I am looking to have fun with some talented people and see where it goes. This is not a get famous project. If you're a hotshot looking for a record deal, my attitude is as follows; I want to play music so that when the rock comes together, it rocks. Like rocks. I am not interested in "trying to get signed" or whatever. I am purely interested in playing some good jams, and going from there. I'd like to write some songs collaboratively, bounce ideas off of like minded people, hang out, (smoking and drinking while not a mainstay, are often a necessary part of the brainstorming process) and eventually, play some shows. I dont care about money, or tee-shirts. This is my pleasure not my job; again, not to say that if things work out these wont be useful tools later on, but... My musical influences as related to what i like to play are: nirvana, toadies, tool, queens of the stone age, blind melon, porcupine tree, opeth, zepplin, sublime, incubus, stone temple pilots, smashing pumpkins, and a lot of other stuff. I have not found my vocal niche but like experimenting with different sounds. That's enough info. I swear, making a band is more complicated than a dating service profile. WHO I NEED I need: a drummer, a bassist, and a kindred guitar/songwriter spirit. WHAT I GOT half stack mic and a guitar. working on the PA but it will be a couple months. So, yes that means if we start playing tomorrow, nobody would hear me sing. But isn't that what acoustic guitar, a Capella bass, and drumming on legs or nearby objects is for? The 53-city tour kicks off August 27 at the Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama. With a cast and crew of more than 60, “Flashback – the Classic Rock Experience,” delivers anew the hit music of the all-time greatest artists: Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and more, presented in a mind-boggling multi-media spectacle one must see to believe. “The intention is to present the music like it’s never been presented before,” says Bowen, founder of “Flashback – the Classic Rock Experience,” and its creative director. “I wanted to do it even better than done originally. We have the world’s greatest players, who studied every move the classic bands ever made.” The Mystic Orchestra features 14 brilliant rock musicians and singers, as well as an 11-piece string-and-horn section, elevating classic rock to new heights. The Orchestra’s core band, with music director, “BANG” guitarist Frank Gilcken who recruited fellow guitarists Phil Hilborne and Jamie Humphries (veterans of the hit Queen retrospective “We Will Rock You” and the Australian Pink Floyd Show, respectively), keyboardist Brian Chatton (Phil Collins and Meatloaf), keyboard/woodwind player David Boruff (Madonna, Chicago) and Australian drummer Adam Troughear. Rocking the mics, Shaun Williamson (lead singer, King Karma, The Atlanta Rhythm Section), Spanish vocalist Jose Manzano, Katrina Chester (star of the off-Broadway smash “Love, Janis”), Elizabeth Eagan and star lead vocalist Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night, back to sing that band’s greatest hits and more. The nearly three-hour show reworks indelible songs of the most highly regarded era in rock: the Doors’ “Light My Fire” and “Riders on the Storm.” Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” and “Mercedes Benz.” Jimi Hendrix masterpieces like “Purple Haze” and “Foxy Lady.” Other rock classics include Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water,” Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild,” “Layla” by Derek and the Dominoes, Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May,” as well as Three Dog Night’s “One” and “Joy to the World,” sung by Chuck Negron. The second half of the show offers something never before attempted in the rock ‘n’ roll universe: Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd playing together. All their greatest songs are featured, including Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” “Kashmir” and “Stairway to Heaven,” as well as Pink Floyd’s “Money,” “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Comfortably Numb” and “Shine On You Crazy Diamond.” This is a carefully crafted meeting of the titans - a loving vision of what might have been. Behind the scenes, Bowen assembled a world-class production team to mount “Flashback – the Classic Rock Experience.” They include promotions manager and founder of Rainbow Ticketmasters, Lou Dickstein; lighting designers Bryan Hartley and Phil Ealy; art designer Ed Unitsky; and sound mixer Seth Goldman. Collectively, these experts have worked with the top acts in rock ‘n’ roll: Elvis, Zeppelin, Janis, the Doors, Floyd, Kiss, Elton John, and Van Halen to name a few. Great as the bands were in the ‘60s and early ‘70s, they were handicapped by primitive light and sound. For “Flashback – the Classic Rock Experience,” Bowen and his team have no such problems. Six truckloads of intelligent LED lighting, lasers, pyrotechnics, zeppelin with two screens and five additional video screens are all backed up by an EAW 225,000-watt surround sound system. Bowen is in a unique position to oversee “Flashback – the Classic Rock Experience.” A veteran producer/promoter of at least 1,500 concerts, Bowen has seen and worked with such immortals as the Stones, Zeppelin, Moody Blues, Elvis, Janis, The Doors, Three Dog Night, and Rod Stewart, to name a few. But he sees this project as the culmination of a life’s work. They were shot in the necks at point blank and are in critical condition at the hospital and are lucky to be alive. The recovery will be long and they will need some financial assistance during that time.
