How it works

Each city uses NOAA's 1991-2020 climate normals from the nearest major weather station: average January and July highs, yearly snowfall and total precipitation. Cities that pass every slider light up, and the table lists the matches with the most comfortable months first (highs of 62 to 86°F, lows of 42°F or more and under 4.5 inches of precipitation).

Averages hide extremes: a city with mild normals can still get a heat wave or a freak snowstorm. Open any city's weather page for the month-by-month picture.
