How to count a state

Most people count a state once they have spent time there, not just driven through it or changed planes. A night's stay, a meal in town or a day out are common rules of thumb. Airport layovers usually do not count. It is your map, so pick a rule and stick to it.

Washington, DC is shown on the map but is not one of the 50, so it is counted separately. Alaska and Hawaii are the two that most travelers have left, which is why the city passport gives them extra points.

Fill it from your city passport

If you have added cities and towns to your city passport, tap "Add states from my city passport" and every state with at least one of your places is colored in. Your states map and your passport are saved separately, so clearing one leaves the other alone.

Your data

Your map stays in this browser. A share link holds your states in the address itself, so we do not store anything when you share it. To keep your map safe on another device, use Save my data.

Questions

How do I make a map of the states I have visited?

Tap each state you have been to on the map above. Tap again to mark it as a state you have lived in. It saves in your browser as you go, and Share my map gives you a link with a picture of your map.

Does Washington, DC count as a state?

No. DC is shown on the map so you can mark it, but it is counted separately from the 50 states.

Do I need an account?

No. The map is saved in this browser. The share link carries your states in the address, so nothing is stored on our side.
